Three Of My Favourite Activities in the Sea of Thieves

The Sea of Thieves has a huge amount to do. There are islands everywhere, there are world events and there are creatures in the water that want you dead. From finding sunken ships to killing Ashen Lords, there is plenty to do. Here are my favourite things to do on the Sea of Thieves. Sea Forts I have always liked Sea Forts. They’re a nice, simple activity that is normally always available, unless someone has recently completed the fort just before you get there. Generally, the best time to do a sea fort is just before you set off on… [Continue Reading]

Voices From Chernobyl – A Review

Some books can find themselves sitting on shelves for years, waiting to be opened and read. Many books end up sitting on shelves and never moving at all, never picked up or read, only jostled about as other books around them are moved. Some books though do eventually get picked up and read, even if they are not exactly enjoyable books. Sometimes, these books are more harrowing than anything else. Voices from Chernobyl is one such book. Put together by Svetlana Alexievich and translated by Keith Gessen, you can tell from the very start that there is little joy to… [Continue Reading]

I Had No Idea That You Could Have More than Four Players in Risk of Rain 2

I’m not very good at Risk of Rain 2, but it is definitely a game I play sometimes, often with friends. However, I was always of the impression that you could only have 4 players at most in a single run. That was until I sat in on voice chat in Kaiga’s Discord server. A nice fellow by the name of Cheezbeargur explained that, in fact, you can actually play with more than four players. All it took was a handful of console commands, and we’d be able to play with five people. Without using any mods or anything like… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon GO and Me

I have a habit about ranting about Pokemon GO. It’s a very simple game that has made a ton of money, but the company behind the game, Niantic, constantly make weird decisions about various game features. As of late, they have been constantly changing the item bundles in the store, and they’ve reduced remote raid usage by limiting remote raids to five per day. Niantic’s relationship with its players and customers is all over the place, and a lot of its Quality of Life changes have been slowly disappearing. Even right now, I could make an argument about how remote… [Continue Reading]

RIP My Black Pen

Whenever I draw something, I often want to outline it in black pen. After all, my pencil line art is very messy, to say the least. I draw lines over lines over lines with my pencils, and it’s very easy for my pencil work to all smudge together into one horrible line of grey. So in order for my drawings to not end up in a giant, massive, grey mess, I use a black pen and go over all the lines with that. Once I’m done with the black lines, I can then erase all the pencil lines, leaving a… [Continue Reading]

Eternalism And Everyone Being The Main Character

Most MMOs have the same problem. There’s technically only one protagonist, despite hundreds or thousands of players all being that one single protagonist. This is normally hand-waved away, because MMOs need a protagonist to do their main quests and storylines. It’s the singular hero (or team of heroes) who struggles though the plot of a game, while everyone else might as well be an NPC. It’s always bothered me a little bit, because it basically makes no sense. Either we all do these story quests or no one does. Warframe is no stranger to this problem. After all, it’s only… [Continue Reading]

Some of my Favourite Fonts

Fonts are everywhere. Every single online word has a font associated to it. Whether we’re designing something new or are modernizing old artwork, there are millions of fonts to choose from. I currently have over 2000 fonts installed on my computer, to the point that I’ve broken the font list on Illustrator and can crash paint applications just by opening the font menu. However, while there are so many fonts, there’s also a selection of fonts that I like to back to, which look nice and professional.   Gotham Gotham is the font we use for our official artwork. It’s… [Continue Reading]

One Day Of An ‘Unintentional Bug’

On June 28th, a change was made in Pokemon GO. Rather than the 40m area to catch Pokemon, the range was increased to about 70m, allowing people to see Pokemon from further away. This immediately meant that you could see way more Pokemon at any one time. And, frankly, it was great. Normally, I can see one, maybe two spawns at home. My position is awkwardly stuck between two gyms, and GPS drift means I can only access one of them at a time. The same goes for Pokemon spawns, there’s one I can always see, and maybe a couple… [Continue Reading]

Niantic and Night

Editor’s note: Several days after writing, Niantic decided to change everything so that night time spawns start at 6pm and end at 6am. However it’s not clear whether this is a permanent change or if it’s just for the Summer Solstice event. And it’s also curious that they had to make this change in the first place. As of writing, there is a Summer Solstice event going on in Pokemon GO. But for some reason, we have both day and night spawns, with specific Pokemon spawning based on the time of day. While the daytime Pokemon are pretty obvious, the… [Continue Reading]

They need to be bigger/smaller…

When I used to play Pixelmon, I spent a lot of time hunting oddly sized Pokemon. The server I played on had special items that randomly changed the size of a specific Pokemon, and you could make your Pokemon either incredibly tiny or incredibly huge. Being someone who had played for quite a while in that server, I accumulated a lot of the size-randoming item, and I used them on quite a few Pokemon. Legendaries would be made huge, while Pokemon I like a lot were made tiny. My favourite Pokemon was a shiny Houndoom that I had made tiny.… [Continue Reading]
