Day One of GO Fest was Fun

I bought a ticket for GO Fest. I’d enjoyed the previous GO Fest events in previous years, so I thought I’d enjoy this one. GO Fest 2023 was a mostly simple but fun event. Was it worth a ticket though? Let’s find out. Just like previous GO Fests, day one of GO Fest 2023 was split into four biomes, which rotated throughout the day. The biomes in GO Fest 2023 were based on minerals, and the main theme was crystals and gems. The Pokemon behind GO Fest was the mythical Pokemon Diancie, a rock/fairy Pokemon that, well, makes crystals and… [Continue Reading]

Hoopa in Pokemon GO and Hope for Transformations

November was a pretty interesting month in Pokemon GO. While we’ve had various themed seasons so far, November ended with a pretty cool bit of special research. Rather than rewarding you with a Legendary or Mythical at the end, we got Hoopa early on. This was then followed by a secondary quest, in which we unlocked something awesome. The ability to change Hoopa’s form, from its normal version to its unbound version. Hoopa Unbound, within Reach The ability to change a Pokemon’s form in Pokemon GO is actually a pretty new feature. We first saw it with Furfrou, a weird… [Continue Reading]

One-Time Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon GO

Mythical Pokemon are weird. They’re simply not like other Pokemon. The vast majority of Pokemon are caught within games of Pokemon, whether it’s the original Red and Blue, current generation 8 Pokemon or even side games like Pokemon GO and Snap. However, with mythical Pokemon, it really does depend. Many Mythical Pokemon are somewhat withheld from normal, natural gameplay. Instead, they are given away as promos and prizes in various events. This can make filling a Pokedex a tad tricky and awkward to do. But, luckily, with Pokemon Home and Pokemon Go, you can much more easily catch Mythical Pokemon.… [Continue Reading]

Genesect Special Research

Normally I wouldn’t spend €8.99 on a single thing in Pokemon Go. I’m actually pretty tight and will only spend a tenner or so every couple of months for raids. But considering how all EX-raids are cancelled for the time being and my local community is struggling to get enough players for EX-raids anyway? I probably won’t ever be able to ever GET a Genesect for a long, long time. So I bought the premium research, A Drive To Investigate. So A Drive to Investigate does the same thing that most previous Special Research does. You do a bunch of… [Continue Reading]

PUNCH IT TO DEATH – Darkrai and the Pokemon Go Halloween Event

Pokemon Go’s Halloween event is up, and out of all the games I play regularly, Pokemon Go has had the best spooky event so far. Not only is the Spiritomb special research back, this time rewarding a Litwick and a Yamask as well as Spiritomb, there’s also a bunch of vaguely new things to do too, like a new level 5 raid boss. Most of the Pokemon Go Halloween event is pretty simple. Dark and Ghost type Pokemon are spawning more frequently, which I love because I’m still after a shiny Drifloon and shiny Houndour, and there’s a new costume… [Continue Reading]

A Thousand-Year Slumber – A Quest for Jirachi

Jirachi, for reasons unknown, is the last Generation 3 Pokemon to be released. Being a mythical Pokemon, we all knew it would be thrown either into some sort of special research or into EX-Raids. Deoxys got the EX-Raid treatment, being split into two useless forms, one okay form and one form that has all the health and none of the damage. Mew and Celebi got special research tasks. It probably would have been weird if Jirachi had been thrown into EX-Raids. This special research, dubbed A Thousand-Year Slumber, is a collection of tasks which, once you have completed all 7… [Continue Reading]

A Ripple in Time – Special Research for Celebi

Special Research in Pokemon Go is, as the name suggests, special research that has you go through various tasks, working your way towards a legendary Pokemon. At the time of writing, there are two special research quests, the Mew Quest “A Mythical Discovery” and the Celebi Quest “A Ripple in Time”. While I still need about 60 more Magikarp candies for the Mew quest, I’m so close to catching that damn Celebi. It’s been a real slog. Funnily enough, step one was simple. I had to power up Pokemon five times by feeding them candy, I had to battle in… [Continue Reading]
