When A Minecraft Server Turns into a Gambling Server

I like to play a bit of Pixelmon. Pixelmon is a mod for Minecraft that basically combines Minecraft and Pokemon. The best experience to do this is on a multiplayer server. There are lots out there, but I play on one in particular. Unfortunately, this server just seems to be turning into a place to gamble. To the point that, well, I really wouldn’t recommend playing on the RC-Gamers Pixelmon servers at all. Now, I understand that servers need to make money, but… I’m going to get this out of the way first. Yes, servers need donations to keep on… [Continue Reading]

Is Pixelmon the Most Complete Pokemon Game?

Pixelmon is an unofficial Pokemon mod made for Minecraft. It’s actually a mod I’ve discussed here before, and one of our most popular articles goes into depth about how depressing it is to play in single player. But for all the negatives that I throw at Pixelmon, it has an insane amount of features. And it also contains nearly every single Pokemon in the entire Pokemon series. And the most recent update started introducing Gen 8 Pokemon! Yep, we’re starting to get Generation 8 Pokemon. Not all of them, just some of them. The Galarian variants of other Pokemon aren’t… [Continue Reading]

Single Player Pixelmon is Bad

Whenever I play Pixelmon, a Minecraft mod that basically recreates Pokemon in Minecraft, I almost always do it in a multiplayer server. Pixelmon multiplayer servers can have their problems, but at least you can do things like trade between players and fight each other. Many servers also have options to give new players items like Pokeballs and easy access to Healers and PCs. There’s also always people around ready to help. Single player Pixelmon has none of that. It is by far the most awkward thing to play, by a long shot. At least in terms of Pokemon games. This… [Continue Reading]

The Pixelmon Master

On September 25th, at about 10pm, I achieved something on the Pixelmon server that I play on. An achievement popped up, exclaiming that I had filled 100% of the Pokedex. For some reason, this had popped up at 807 owned Pokemon, because clearly Meltan and Melmetal aren’t really proper Pokemon with their own region yet. As far as the game was concerned though, I had managed to touch every single Pokemon and have every single Pokemon in my inventory or in my PC at least once. Somehow, despite having never touched a Yveltal or a Tornadus. On this particular Pixelmon… [Continue Reading]

Playing on Modern Large Minecraft Servers

Back when I actively played Minecraft back in Minecraft 1.7 and before, back when things were more simple and there weren’t zombies and skeletons literally every-fucking-where, the Minecraft servers I used to play on weren’t huge, but they had stable enough communities and regular players. These servers also had a bunch of basic commands, like being able to protect areas, protecting your chests and a multitude of anti-griefing plugins. Eventually though, I stopped playing Minecraft aside from glancing at new versions and playing in single player creative mode. It wasn’t until I started playing Pixelmon that I got into Multiplayer… [Continue Reading]

On Finally Catching a Cosmog

Curse this Pixelmon server. Curse it and its temptation. The fact that this server, in order to curb auto-fishing, allowed you to fish up random Pokemon like a Super Rod with an increased chance of shinies is bad enough, but some evil bastard decided to put Cosmog, the legendary starry cloud Pokemon from Generation 7, into the pool of potential rewards. It’s an interesting idea as it forces people to actually be in-game and fight Pokemon and unable to just leave a macro and an auto-fishing redstone contraption running, but it sent me on a spiraling quest to obtain one… [Continue Reading]

Fishing for Cosmog

I’m not sure what day it is. Everything is blurring together. The little jingle of getting experience in Minecraft is stuck in my mind. I hear the sound of a bobber being pulled under at random. Large, blue surfaces and pixel oceans make me stutter. And I want to murder every single Deerling and Surskit in existence. Why? Because I have been fishing for Cosmog. You see, the other day, the Pixelmon server I play on had a minor update. You see, this server has a way to earning in-game money by mining and fishing and various things like that.… [Continue Reading]

Single Player Pixelmon is the Most Depressing I’ve Played Recently

Lately, I’ve been playing on a very nice multiplayer Pixelmon server that recently upgraded to version 7.0.1 of Pixelmon Reforged, bringing with it all the Pokemon from the Alolan region, Z-Moves and more. The server community is very nice (if a bit ravenous and grabby) and, thanks to the various plugins they have, it’s not too hard to actually catch Pokemon. Even if you start off with nothing at all, you can slowly start catching Pokemon and leveling yourself up, because the server optionally offers you basic things like 5 Pokeballs every 2 hours, as well as daily kits containing… [Continue Reading]

Pixelmon, also known as WTF DO ALL THESE BERRIES DO?

Minecraft modding these days is so easy. You just install your mod manager and mod extender of choice (e.g. Forge) then drop your mods inside the Mods folder. It’s honestly just as easy as installing old versions of Minecraft. Gone are the days where you had to delete the META-INF folder and mess around with other things. Between this and the fact that I kinda actually do like Pokemon these days, I couldn’t help but say yes when my sister invited me to play Pixelmon with her. Pixelmon is basically a Minecraft version of Pokemon, spanning generations 1 through 6.… [Continue Reading]
