Pokemon That Should Always Be Available

These days, most research tasks that ask you to catch Pokemon generally have a wide variety to catch. You’ll see tasks like “catch X fire type Pokemon” for example. During the Paldea event though, we had a “Catch 15 Nymble” challenge for some star dust. That research task was a bit odd, especially since it was just a normal research task. In special research tasks though, having to catch a specific Pokemon is a more common task. For example, for the Meltan special research, you need to catch some Gulpin and Slugma, because they are rather liquid-y, the same way… [Continue Reading]

On Catching 100 Different Species of Pokemon

In both the Paldean Adventure special research and the Master Ball timed research, there is a particular task that I thought would be quite difficult. The task is to catch 100 different species of Pokemon. Now, I originally assumed that this task would be difficult. After all, most events only spawn like 5-6 different Pokemon, and the time between events, the spawns aren’t much better. However, I got this research task for A Paldean Adventure only a few days ago (at the time of writing) and I’ve somehow pretty much finished it. And this was just after the Psychic Spectacular… [Continue Reading]

My First Zygarde Cell

Zygarde is a Pokemon with multiple forms. It starts off as a single cell, it grows into a dog, it then evolves into a draconic snake, before changing into its 100% form, which looks like some cool humanoid monster with tassles. In Pokemon GO, while we don’t get the single cell form, the A to Zygarde research gives us a 10% Zygarde, the little doggy form. In order to evolve it, we needs Zygarde Cells, which we catch in a Zygarde Cube. But this process is… tedious. To evolve your Zygarde 10% into a Zygarde 50%, you need 50 Zygarde… [Continue Reading]

Timburr Community Day

Fighting type Pokemon are very valuable when it comes to raiding and PvP. There’s a lot of stuff weak to fighting, so you need a good team. So Timburr Community Day was a good chance to stock up on some good fighting types. Ranked pretty near at the top, this fighting type is a perfect candidate for any fighting-based raid. So it was definitely worth doing. Especially with the double candy and double stardust bonuses. Conkeldurr, the final evolution of Timburr, is a pure fighting type Pokemon. It’s nearly as strong as Lucario and Terrakion, while also a bit more… [Continue Reading]

On Creating A Route

A while ago, I made a route in Pokemon GO. However, it never appeared in-game, and appears to be stuck in limbo. So, the other day, I gave up on ever seeing that route, and decided to make another one. I could have done this sooner, but for a long time, I was experiencing crashes when trying to start the route creation process, so I basically gave up. However, in the mean time, there had been multiple bug fixes, so I decided to try again. The route I decided to make was around my local park. It’s not a very… [Continue Reading]

Routes in Pokemon GO are still a broken feature

Routes are a relatively new feature in Pokemon GO, and they are a royal pain in the arse. You have to follow a set path through goodness knows where, and there’s not much to do on them. Sure, you can get some random Pokemon spawning on these routes, but that’s about it. Routes solely exist to give us Zygarde Cells. Sometimes. Completing routes does give you some rewards, but they are very lop-sided. I went on a walk with my brother the other day, and I got some berries and stardust for completing a route. He got two Elite Fast… [Continue Reading]

Too Many Shinies?

Sometimes, one suffers from success. In most Pokemon games, shiny Pokemon are stupidly rare and hard to get. It’s almost pure luck, and you can only increase your chances with bizarre methods, or by completely filling the game’s Pokedex, which gives you an item to make things ever so slightly easier. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet though, hunting for shinies was made a lot easier, thanks to special sandwiches that boost the chance of shiny Pokemon appearing nearby. However, even Scarlet and Violet’s ways of getting shiny Pokemon are anywhere near as close as the chances in Pokemon GO. In… [Continue Reading]

Things That Annoy Me About The Buddy System in Pokemon GO

I like the buddy system in Pokemon GO. It’s very simple and basic, but it’s nice to have a companion Pokemon that follows you around and gives you certain gifts and buffs as you level your buddy up. But the system is certainly not perfect, and there are definitely some things that annoy me. My first pet peeve is feeding buddies with berries. You need three berries initially to get started and have your buddy wander around, and feeding it additional berries will keep your buddy out in the real world. To earn hearts, you have to feed your buddy… [Continue Reading]

How the Psychic Spectacular event could have been more Spectacular

The Psychic Spectacular event comes by every year, generally after the Ultra Unlock events end. It’s an event that bridges the gap between the GO Fest rush and the October spooky events. However, this year’s Psychic Spectacular was rather boring. Here’s how it could have been better. More psychic types We did get a few psychic types but they’re all mostly old ones. While some people may need Exeggcute for the Meltan special research, most other Pokemon are somewhat recent or kinda spawn already. We already had a Slowpoke community day, Spoink is useless and a common grunt in Team… [Continue Reading]

Grubbin Community Day

I do often wonder how Niantic decide on who and what gets a community day and when. For September 2023, we got Grubbin, the small bug type Pokemon that evolves into the bug and electric type Vikavolt. Why did we get Grubbin? No idea. But either way, we got a new shiny and a technically new move. The bonuses for the community day were alright. Triple catch XP is always a welcome sight, but Grubbin isn’t the easiest to get excellent throws on. Luckily, Grubbin is pretty easy to catch, so you get that extra First Ball experience. There weren’t… [Continue Reading]
