Medic Plays A Real Pokemon Game for the First Time – Part 0

I’ve never played an actual Pokemon game before. Sure, I play Pokemon GO, but that game has half the battling and a very different combat system. I’ve also played Pixelmon Reforged, which does have the correct combat system but is a chore to play. The most I’ve ever done is briefly play on other people’s games. And that’s it. However, I think it’s time to change that. After all these years, I’m going to play an actual Pokemon game. “What took you so long?” Well, it’s mostly because I never had the right device. The consoles I had while growing… [Continue Reading]

Does Anyone Actually Like Needing 400 Candy To Evolve A Pokemon?

There are a few Pokemon in the Pokemon universe that start off as small and weak, then evolve into something amazing. Magikarp is probably the most famous for this*. It’s a weak fish that only knows Tackle and Splash, and if you have the patience, you can evolve it into a massive sea not-a-dragon. Normally, in the main Pokemon games, you need to level the Pokemon despite it having awful moves. But the grind is worth it because you get a cool new badass Pokemon. In Pokemon GO however, you can evolve these Pokemon without having them in battle. It… [Continue Reading]

Weird Pokemon Dimensions in Pokemon GO

Every time you catch a Pokemon, regardless of game, that Pokemon has stats about how big it is. How much it weighs and how tall it is. These numbers are generally completely random, but it’s a nice bit of flavour text whenever you catch some Pokemon. Makes them not look like clones or something like that. However, in Pokemon GO, you can’t see if a Pokemon is big or small until after you’ve caught it. Thankfully, sizes don’t really mean much, right? Cosmetic sizes All Pokemon have a height and weight given to them, with a small chance of being… [Continue Reading]

My Three Favourite Starter Pokemon

In every Pokemon game you play, you start off with, well, a Starter Pokemon to take with you and train with. In Pokemon GO, your starter Pokemon is very basic, with a static 10/10/10 IVs and at CP10. Normally those are quickly abandoned, due to being mostly useless and cosmetic. The main series games though, your starter Pokemon is normally your best buddy forever and ever, growing alongside you. Anyway, if I were forced to pick a starter for myself, it’d be one of these lot. #4 Charmander As much as I want to like Squirtle and Bulbasaur more, Charmander… [Continue Reading]

A Like and Dislike for Mega Raids in Pokemon GO

It seems that most people have somewhat accepted Mega Pokemon. Now that there are easier ways to earn Mega Candy, and the Megas stay around for 8 hours, it’s all just about acceptable. Yet still, there’s something about Mega Raids that irks me. They’re just not quite right. No one really wants to do them If you’re unlucky enough to miss a debut of a mega Pokemon, then you probably won’t find many people hosting them. At least, that’s the problem I’ve been having with Mega Raids. I couldn’t get people to join in Manectric raids nor Ampharos. But even… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon I Like But Never Get To Use

When it comes to Pokemon GO, the meta doesn’t change much. In PvP, there are random cups that offer a change, but your standard PvP match will always have familiar faces, especially as you play the higher leagues. In PvE content, the meta most of the time is use six of one Pokemon and never use the default recommended stuff the game suggests. Anyway, here are some Pokemon I like, but rarely get to use in battle. Entei and Suicune The legendary beasts Entei and Suicune are really cool Pokemon. Doesn’t help that their choice of attacks just aren’t very… [Continue Reading]

My 5 Least Favourite Shiny Pokemon (that I actually use)

I’m a simple person. If I see something shiny, then I feel I must have it. My brain works like that of a magpie or crow, always gathering shiny items. However, since most magpies and crows can’t use game consoles, they can’t really understand what a shiny Pokemon is. And as we slowly climb towards nearly a thousand different Pokemon, it’s a tad tedious to rate all of them. Instead, in today’s article, I’ll be sticking to only Pokemon that I use. Because, even if we round it down to just Pokemon GO, we’d be here all day. Garchomp First… [Continue Reading]

Somewhat Warming Up To Costumed Pokemon

Costume Pokemon are here to stay. Despite communities grumbling that hatted Pokemon are a waste of space, it seems like costumed Pokemon will always be on the rise. As we’ve continued throughout the year, we have had more and more costume Pokemon, to the point that nearly every other event has SOMETHING with a costume. But despite costume Pokemon wasting space, I do have a bit of a fondness for them. Most if these Pokemon are kinda cute The Pokemon chosen for most events are adorable. The most recent new hatted Pokemon is actually Hoothoot, the round owl Pokemon who… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Shiny Pokemon

Shiny Pokemon are cool. In the main games, a shiny is a stupidly rare thing to find, but you do have some control over it, by breeding and completing the Pokedex. In Pokemon GO however, there’s nothing you can do to increase or decrease shiny encounters. Whether you catch a shiny or not, it is 100% RNG and good luck. That being said, I’ve caught quite a few shiny Pokemon over the years. There are still a lot of shinies that I don’t have or haven’t been released yet. So, for today’s article, I’ll be sticking to shiny Pokemon I… [Continue Reading]

Please Can We Have a Master Ball?

While Pokemon GO does include many features from the main games, there’s an odd thing that we’ve never had before. While having the same fighting system is one thing this game lacks, I want to talk about something much smaller: the Master Ball. For the handful of people who have never played a Pokemon game, a Master Ball will catch any Pokemon with a 100% guarantee, and 0% chance of breaking out. In the main games, you generally only ever get one Master Ball for your entire region. It’s such an amazing and useful Pokeball that you really need to… [Continue Reading]
