Is Warframe Dying? Yes, No, Maybe?

Simply put, Warframe’s most recent update, Scarlet Spear, was NOT well received. In fact, most players have somewhat disliked it! Even I, someone who tolerates a lot of things, found the update to be mostly bad. Bad enough to write a couple of unhappy articles about it. But the problems with Scarlet Spear bring another question. Is Warframe dying? Is it slowly declining? To be honest, I’m not sure. You an answer that question in a lot of ways. Is Warframe itself dying? Well, no. Not really. While things look pretty bad, especially from a normal player’s outlook, I won’t… [Continue Reading]

Hey, Vsauce, Medic Here

I was chatting with someone the other day and they said they needed to clear out their subscriptions on Youtube. They were subscribed to SO MANY things that they didn’t watch most of them. All sorts of stuff, but mostly just video game stuff, or things related to the TV shows they watched. I shrugged and said I probably needed to do the same. After all, there are channels I don’t watch at all. There are also channels I probably watch too much of. Frankly, I can split my subscribed channels into rather predictable groups. I have quite a few… [Continue Reading]

1920 x 1080

For most of my brief existence, I’ve not had the best monitor. I’ve had a tiny little screen and played all my games in dumb resolutions. But now I have a semi-decent computer (okay, a laptop) that has a much larger resolution. Despite, funnily enough, the laptop not being that much bigger. I can now experience the beauty that is 1920 x 1080. And blimey, it’s kinda hard to get used to. It’s all so… vast… The first thing I noticed was, funnily enough, how I had no images that fit my new massive desktop. I absolutely NEED a good… [Continue Reading]

On Owning Pets

I’ve never really been a pet person. When I was little, I never had a pet and the only pet I knew of was Tinker, the old, derpy dog my nan used to look after. Tinker was cute and fluffy but I was little and he seemed huge and scary and I didn’t always see much of him. I actually didn’t really get a pet until I was an adult, and even then, they were someone else’s pets. I just happened to share a house with them. That being said, we’ve actually had a couple of blog posts here on… [Continue Reading]

Things To Do In Warframe When You Don’t Have Anything To Do

Warframe is a funny game in which it’s never really sure where the end-point of gameplay is. Are you an end-game player when you’ve done all the quests? Are you done with the game once you’ve unlocked all the nodes on the star chart? Are things like Eidolon hunts and Profit-Taker deaths when you’re done with Warframe? What about mastery rank and getting every item in the game? Who knows? But despite all this, there are times where you find yourself without much to to, whether it’s in a lull between larger updates or you’ve just completed the MR28 test… [Continue Reading]

Learning About Minecraft Bedrock Edition

I have played Minecraft on and off since 2010, back when Minecraft was in Alpha and brother convinced me to buy it and play it. Back then, there was no hunger meter, there were no beds and there were far, far fewer types of biomes and hostile mobs, while friendly mobs spawned all the time, mainly because you couldn’t breed them. Breeding didn’t come out until the far end of Minecraft Beta and, when I started playing, Skeletons finally actually held Bows to fire arrows with and the Nether had literally just been released. And when I say the Nether… [Continue Reading]

A Thousand Words A Day

Keeping the Daily SPUF going with an article a day every single day might have seemed pretty easy back in 2013-2015 when the Steam User Forums were busy and filled with actual people, back when there were more people with opinions who wanted to make those opinions known. While not everyone was a fan of the article format, there was enough traffic for me to be able to schedule weeks’ worth of articles. Zoom forward today and it’s been a pretty desperate struggle just to make sure to have 3 days of articles scheduled in advance. While the Daily SPUF… [Continue Reading]

On Comparing Healers in Video Games

A while back, a long while back, I wrote a handful of articles pitting various healer characters against each other in a weird healing and fighting sort of thing. It’s pretty fun taking characters from different games and throwing them at each other in a hypothetical fight. No one will ever know the true winner until every character in existence appears in Smash Bros or something, but you can make some interesting comparisons. Determining a winner though is much more easily done with characters that do a lot of damage. For example, comparing Widowmaker from Overwatch with the TFC Sniper… [Continue Reading]

Dead Articles

Being a new year and a new decade, sometimes I think about clearing out all the backlogs and finishing off a lot of unfinished stuff. After all, every time I log in to the Daily SPUF to write an article, I am met with the same old message, the same reminder that there are nearly a hundred articles sitting in the Drafts section, unwanted and unloved. The same goes for the Pending section, which is currently sparsely populated with four mediocre backup articles that I can schedule if I really fuck up and don’t have anything else to publish. But… [Continue Reading]

Hello 2020!

It’s January! January the 1st, 2020! A brand new year and a brand new decade. Time for change and new year’s resolutions and all sorts of sudden changes in lifestyles that we can’t realistically keep up! In fact, you might be trying to decide right now what your new year’s resolutions will be, what changes you will make in the future, how you will try and make your life better this year compared to last year. Actually, if you’re anything like the late Douglas Adams, you might even be looking for a piece of paper to write your new year’s… [Continue Reading]
