The Team Rocket Leaders Are Actually Worth Fighting Now!

After three months of awful shadow Pokemon, the Team Rocket Leaders now actually have good Pokemon! In fact, all three of them have pretty good Pokemon! It looks like it’s time to equip those Rocket Radars I’ve been holding on to. With the Halloween Rocket Takeover event, we got three new Pokemon from the Leaders of Team Rocket, and Giovanni is also back with a new shadow Legendary. Sierra is back with Sableye, Arlo is skulking around with Bellsprout and Cliff is now everyone’s new best friend with Dratini. All three Pokemon have the potential to be shiny, and are… [Continue Reading]

The Shadow Mewtwo Event Should Have Been A Proper Raid Event

On June 27th and 28th 2023, we had an event featuring Shadow Mewtwo in 5-star raids. The event was alright, but it could have been so much better. Here’s how I would have done the event. But first, let’s quickly discuss the actual event. Just a normal day There were no special boosts or anything for the weekend. It was part of the Team Rocket takeover event that introduced shadow raids in general. This would have been fine, but the raid pool was filled with not just Mewtwo, but the 1-star and 3-star shadow raids as well. At least, that… [Continue Reading]

Team Rocket GO are Mediocre, But I Love Them.

Every Pokemon game has some bad group that do bad things and you, the 10 year old player character, have to go and stop them. In Pokemon GO, we get Team GO Rocket, run by what I assume is a clone of Giovanni. It’s called Team GO Rocket, either way, but Team Rocket GO is cooler. Or I can just call them Team, Rocket, it’s all the same. Still, probably better than Team Star in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Team Star just seems to be filled with kids bunking off school or something. Anyway, Team GO Rocket aren’t really much… [Continue Reading]

The Second Best Team Rocket Grunt

Back in March of 2021, I wrote a long-winded article about the best Team Go Rocket grunt. Sure, all these grunts are the same. They’re the same copied and pasted model and they all have pink hair. But there’s something about one grunt that stood out. I was, of course, talking about the water-type grunt with 3 Magikarps as his Pokemon. A team like that is so bad that it’s actually good. Well, good for us at least. But all of a sudden, I have run into the second best Team Rocket Grunt. The Grunts have changed a bit since… [Continue Reading]

The 5 next best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO

A while ago, aabicus went over the the 5 best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO. His list was very strong for the grunts back then. However, we’ve received more Pokemon over time, and some Grunts have changed. Aabicus’s list is still a great setup that can beat any team you come across. But there are other Pokemon worth considering. Specifically, the ones in this list! Machamp Machamp is great. Sure, you can use Lucario or that other guy. But Machamp is simply too easy to get, power up and give a second move to. Sure, you can give Riolu… [Continue Reading]

Somehow a Team Rocket-Themed Event is Bad?

Followers of the Daily SPUF will probably recognize two things about me. Firstly, I use a yellow Volt a lot. But secondly, I really like Team Rocket fights in Pokemon GO. There is something cathartic about kicking grunts in the groin and stealing their Pokemon. Wait… that’s what they’re supposed to be doing to us. Either way though, grunt fights are fun, and I always enjoy events that spawn more of them. However, the Luminous Legends Y event has me questioning that. Somehow, this Team Rocket event is bad. Actually, that sentence is wrong in two ways. Firstly, this isn’t… [Continue Reading]

Two Weeks Without Team Rocket

In the middle of April, a Pokemon GO update broke Team Rocket fights. The bug didn’t affect everyone, but it would basically soft-lock the game. So, to keep the game playable, Team Rocket was disabled. Honestly? I thought this would be fine. I’d survive without Team Rocket, even if I was at 5/6 radar components. It’d be fine, right? Well, no. I kinda lost interest in the game. I was actually kinda surprised by this. Originally, I thought I’d be fine. But I quickly stopped opening the game as regularly. Normally, I’d use Team Rocket fights for the stardust and… [Continue Reading]

2000 Team Rocket Battles Later…

It’s only been, what, seven months? But after so much grinding, I have finally done it. I have defeated 2000 Team GO Rocket grunts. In doing so, I have earned the Platinum medal. This means I get one extra Pokeball for catching Shadow Pokemon. My 2000th battle was against Arlo. If anything, it wasn’t even impressive. Could have done the fight with my 1499CP Poliwrath, but I couldn’t be bothered. Arlo’s lineup contained the rarely seen Infernape, but ended with Salamence, which would have made the fight a bit tricky for Poliwrath. That being said, I actually defeated all three… [Continue Reading]

The Three Worst Team Rocket Grunts

While I do enjoy battling Team Rocket Grunts, some of them are definitely better than others. Most grunts will go down pretty quickly, some will put up a fight. All of them wonder why you beat them, despite using Pokemon with a universal weakness. I’ve discussed the best Team Rocket Grunt, a poor guy with nothing but Magikarps. In today’s article though, I want to talk about the three worst Team Rocket Grunts. Boy, are these guys a pain in the ass… The Same Psychic Type Over and Over. There’s only one male grunt on this list. But, coming in… [Continue Reading]

The Best Team Rocket Grunt

Team Rocket Grunts come in a bunch of different forms. Generally, they are male or female and have Pokemon based on their type. You can generally guess what Pokemon they’ll have based on the line or pun they spout when you challenge them. When you defeat a grunt, they’ll scurry off and leave one of their Pokemon behind. Grunts seem to change on a regular basis. Well, I say that, the grunts themselves stay the same. No matter what Pokemon they have, they’ll spew the same old puns and one-liners. And they’ll always abandon one of their Pokemon at the… [Continue Reading]
