A Bunch of Lovely Electric Warframes

Volt couldn’t remember how he got there. He wasn’t actually sure where ‘there’ was. Either way, it was a very tight space, with only just enough room for him to stand up straight. What bothered Volt more though were all the needles sticking out of his metallic Warframe flesh. Every few seconds, a tingling sensation would run up his body then drain away, as if the needles were… sucking electricity out of him? Volt wasn’t sure. The last thing Volt could remember was being attacked by a literal ton of… No, they weren’t Zanuka Hunters. If they were, they had… [Continue Reading]

The Problems with Region Chat in Warframe

Region Chat, Recruiting Chat and Trade Chat are all very weird things and very different beasts. Recruiting Chat is filled with the same bunch of people trying to get others to join their Rad Shares, sprinkled with the odd recruitment for clans. Trade Chat is mostly filled with people wanting to buy Prime sets for next to nothing or trying to sell their riven mods for huge amounts of Platinum (even if they’re not very good). Region Chat is… a different beast. Because that is where most of the moderators live. Most of the time, moderation in Recruiting Chat and… [Continue Reading]

Mirage – The Other Trickster Warframe

When it comes to trickery, it generally arrives in two forms – either the quiet, stealthy form that Loki embodies, or the “holy shit my eyes are burning” flashiness that Mirage personifies. Loki is stealthy, Mirage is completely in your face, blinding you with flashy effects, disco balls of death and duplicates of herself. There’s nothing too fancy about Mirage. Her first ability spawns up to copies of herself, confusing enemies and quadrupling your bullet output. Her second ability can stop traps and cameras, and also places a small, glittering mine that damages enemies. Her third ability buffs her damage… [Continue Reading]

Spores, Spores and More Spores – Slaying with Saryn

There are four base elements in Warframe and six combination elements. There are also Warframes that mainly use a single element. Fire, Cold and Electricity are covered by Ember, Frost and Volt. Toxin is… kinda covered by Saryn. But she’s way more toxic than just Toxin alone. She’s viral too. She’s… something else. Oh and she’s insanely powerful. But let’s start off with the pain in the ass it is to obtain Saryn. You see, she’s locked away behind the Kela De Thayme fight. Which is a good fight in of itself, but it requires you to fight on the… [Continue Reading]

Pretty, Bloody but not very useful – Garuda

Garuda is the Warframe that was released alongside Fortuna, having been hyped as the “blood and gore” Warframe. But after I worked my ass off trying to get her… it turns out I don’t like Garuda. And it seems as though I’m the minority when it comes to that opinion. Right off the bat, Garuda is a bit of a problem. You see, she LOOKS like she is easy to obtain. Her blueprint is acquired after the Vox Solaris quest that introduces you to Fortuna and her component blueprints drop The drop rates on her Neuroptics, Chassis and Systems are… [Continue Reading]

Running Out of Standing

In Warframe, ‘standing’ is a currency. Not only does standing measure your rank within a syndicate, from anything from the bickering relay Syndicates to the unplayed Conclave to the secretive Quills and Nox Solaris, but it’s also a currency that you can use to buy things. It’s basically using reputation with a group as cash. Standing can be earned in a huge number of ways, depending on each Syndicate. The six normal Syndicates all have daily missions which reward more standing based on your rank, as well as medallions which can be traded in for standing later on, and you… [Continue Reading]

Fortuna is way scarier than it actually seems…

Fortuna, as the opening cutscene tells you, is a debt internment camp. Sure, there’s some nice singing and everyone seems to be working and all that, but everyone working there is deep in debt. So deep in fact that they’re forced to work in Fortuna, one of the harshest, coldest places on Venus, until they repay their debt. Of course, working in these harsh conditions would instantly kill the normal human body. So you have to get augmentations. Which cost a fortune, meaning you go into extra debt. But you have no choice but to get the augments. Either you… [Continue Reading]

On Having Multiple Colour Schemes

With so many colour palettes, skins, armour sets and fancy syandanas, there’s so many ways you can customize your Warframes AND your weapons. And your companions. And your ship. And your Archwing. And your ship’s interior. In fact, there’s so much customization that I was originally very lost and confused, not sure what colour to make what item. In fact, in my very early days, I bounced around constantly on colour schemes. Even when I settled on yellow, I didn’t know which yellow to pick. Or what colours should go alongside that yellow.I went through a couple of colour phases,… [Continue Reading]

Fishing and Mining and Capturing Small Animals in the Orb Vallis

With the Fortuna update, there are more minerals to mine, more gems to refine and more fish to, er, fish. There is also the whole capturing animals and sending them off to safety via miniature helicopters, but let’s talk about the more familiar things first. Mining got the biggest changes. The whole tracing minigame is gone, having beem replaced with a heating minigame. Basically, while zoomed in, you can click and hold M1 on the glowing circles of any ore vein and hold it until it’s in the white highlighted area. Sometimes the correct area moves around, sometimes it is… [Continue Reading]

Ticker

Most of the NPCs in Fortuna are basically cyborg Corpus slave variants of the NPCs found in Cetus. Eudico is the Konzu of Fortuna, Rude Zuud sells you kit guns in the same way that Hok sells you Zaw parts and there’s all the fishing and mining stuff that the Business and Smokefinger deal with as well. Little Duck is basically the same as Onkko, being Fortuna’s Quills representative. But frankly I don’t like her, since she insulted Excalibur Umbra, refusing to speak to him and wanting to speak to Space Kids only. Umbra has feelings, you know! There are… [Continue Reading]
