5 Legendaries You Don’t Need to Power Up in Pokemon GO

Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO are very expensive to power up. They require a lot of candy, and that candy is hard to come by. Not only that, but they rotate in and out of raids. If you don’t keep up, you end up missing vital Pokemon. However, thankfully, not every legendary Pokemon is worth the time and effort to power up. They may have some very niche uses in PvP stuff, but you shouldn’t see these Pokemon in raids and the like.

Here are some Legendary Pokemon that you don’t need to power up.

Virizion and Cobalion

The Swords of Justice didn’t exactly make a big splash when they debuted in Pokemon GO. The first time they appeared, they came one at a time, and they definitely didn’t get their special moves. All three of the Swords of Justice did get Sacred Sword, their unique move, but it wasn’t at the same time.

Luckily, Terrakion gets away with being half-decent. Rock/Fighting isn’t the greatest typing, but at least Terrakion has good moves on it. Virizion and Coballion have mediocre moves and, somehow, even with Sacred Sword. Virizion in particular really isn’t good at all, with a double weakness to Flying.

Celebi

Funnily enough, we have two Celebis here – one normal and one shiny. However, Celebi kinda isn’t that great. It’s small and flimsy and dies fast. Which is kinda weird since Celebi seems to have weak time-based powers. Unfortunately though, there is little use for Celebi, and what it does do gets overshadowed by other Pokemon.

Technically though, Celebi doesn’t count if you consider it a Mythical Pokemon instead of a legendary one.

Genie Forms

Landorus, Tornadus and Thundurus are pretty neat Pokemon. But these guys have two forms each, and, well, the more humanoid genie Forms are, well, kinda crap. The genie forms are nothing but weaker versions of their Therian forms, which look cool and animal-y. And have better stats.

And the most useless of the lot? a Genie Tornadus. It is completely overshadowed by Moltres and Rayquaza, and has about the same strength as a Pidgeot. I also happen to have a 100% genie form Tornadus and, trust me, it’s awful.

The Spirits of the Lake

Honestly? The Lake Trio just feel like mediocre Mews, except with fancy head gear. And are somehow weaker than Mew. Not that it’s really possible to get these three. They disappear on and off and are regional, meaning you can’t get one easily. Supposedly, they can spawn in the wild, but they are so rare that you might as well not bother.

Regigigas

Sadly, our normal-type Regigigas is in this list as well. Normal typing in Pokemon GO really isn’t useful unless it’s connected to something else. Even worst, Fighting types eat normal types for breakfast. Many Pokemon have fighting moves too. The weakness to Fighting isn’t the only problem. The real problem is that Normal types are never super effective against other Pokemon.

Regigigas may get some love one day, but for now, it’s just impractical. You could try and roll something with a Hidden Power move, but those are so random that you’d be better using something else.

Alright, fine, that’s not 5 single legendary Pokemon. If you count all of them, that’s actually 10 legendary Pokemon that kinda suck. However, don’t take this article as if it’s canon or anything. If your favourite Pokemon happens to be on this list, feel free to ignore me and do what you feel is right. Even if it’s walking a 100% Regigigas to level 50.

Anyway, time to feed my buddy. See ya!
