Such Wonderful Parkour

I know I said the other day that I’ll be playing less Warframe, but something occurred to me, and I needed to get in-game to find out. The thing I found out was that the Voidshell skins look a bit like Rhino’s rubedo skin. Since I was there though, I thought I might as well do some quick bounties or missions or something. After all, there is a season pass in Warframe as well, and I’m at a woefully low level. Not that I need anything from Nightwave, but I can’t say no to more Kuva.

As I loaded Warframe up, I actually kinda felt a bit weird. My loading times weren’t great and I was made aware of just how much I’ve been missing lately. But as soon as I got in, I found myself missing something already.

Bloody hell, Warframe’s mobility is awesome.

Seriously, just the mobility inside your ship is amazing. Jumping, rolling, jumping again and a nice little sprint. It’s all so smooth and silky. Sure, there is a menu to fast-travel to anywhere inside your ship, but why would you do that when you can somersault like a lunatic? Even Operators move quite quickly, all things considered. Compared to Destiny 2, which I have been playing all week, Warframe’s movement looks like it’s on mushrooms or something.

After working out what I needed to work out, I decided to play a few missions.

The missions I picked were Nightwave tasks. I needed to do a survival with Clem, and 8 zones of Elite Sanctuary Onslaught. Neither missions were particularly good for parkour, but nonetheless I was having fun. I bounced through Corpus hallways in the survival with Clem and my Railjack crew mate, murdering everything. It was all a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself. Sadly I ended up playing mostly solo (even though I was on public matchmaking), but that didn’t get in the way of me charging through missions, pretending that the floor is lava.

It’s all so smooth as well. Okay, sure, wall jumping is a bit weird, but you can effortlessly transfer your momentum and go in a brand new direction if you need to. Any Tenno can combine jumping, bullet jumping, rolling and air gliding to travel pretty long distances. You only ever stop jumping so you can stop and kill enemies and do mission tasks.

But on top of that, there’s even more mobility, especially when it comes to weapons. With ground slams and charge attacks, you can use your melee from a great height and crater into distracted enemies. Operators have Void Slings that they use to throw themselves around. And then we have things like K-Drives and Archwings, which also offer EVEN MORE ways to travel long distances.

I wish every game had similar mobility and parkour to Warframe.

The movement in Destiny 2 really just isn’t the same. And when you mess up, it flat out kills you. Warframe not only has great parkour, but it is very, very kind to you if you fall down a hole or something.

I’m going to finish this article with a question. While Destiny 2’s gun play is fine, I am looking for something to match Warframe’s jumping around parkour stuff. So, dear readers, what games would you recommend I try, that have so many options of jumping around?
