Okay, Some of these Research Tasks are Godawful

With so many events in Pokemon GO, it’s hard to remember where tasks come from. Now, normal research tasks are orange, daily free tasks are green and event tasks are bronze, with the word “event” underneath them. However, some of these research tasks are so dreadful. Like, genuinely bad tasks. Why are they even here? What spurred me to write this article was one such awful task. During the Team Rocket Takeover event, which overlapped with the Ditto event, there were some event-related research tasks. Two of them were easy to ignore. Most people don’t want to catch 10 Pokemon… [Continue Reading]

On Playing Overwatch 2

Despite my boyfriend and I both being gamers (him more so than me), we actually don’t play much in common. He’s a Playstation player while I’ve been playing on PC for a good decade now. Ideally we both need something that has crossplay. So, early on, we decided to play Overwatch 2 together. It’s currently free and it’s got crossplay, so it seemed like a good idea. Brain Pain Now, long-time readers might know that I had a problem with Overwatch 1. It used to give me horrible headaches whenever I played for more than 20 minutes. I did enjoy… [Continue Reading]

Go Battle League Days

Occasionally, in Pokemon GO, we get an event featuring the GO Battle League, where you can get somer rewards, and generally feature a specific Pokemon as well. However, the GBL isn’t the most fun around here, to the point that I actively avoid it whenever I can. That being said, some of these GBL events sometimes have good rewards. The event on March 25th for example offered up an Elite TM of all things. Elite TMs are very rare, so it’s a good incentive to play in the GBL. After all, the only times you can get them are on… [Continue Reading]

A Quick Look At Castle Crashers

Trying to find a common ground in video games is hard. There are so many games to play, but not everyone has them. And on top of that, not everyone is even on the same platform. This was a difficulty that I have found quite a lot while playing games with my boyfriend. But we did eventually stumble on one game we both owned: Castle Crashers. Castle Crashers has been out for ages, but I never got around to playing it, because it’s a beat-them-up game. I’m not normally into that sort of thing, mostly because I suck at them.… [Continue Reading]

A Bit of Wrestling Disappointment

On a whim and an invitation from my brother, I joined him and a friend and watched Wrestlemania. This year, Wrestlemania was split into two 4-hour events, spread over the weekend. So we had day one and day two. However, we watched Wrestlemania in one go, watching it on the WWE network. Which meant we could skip over all the long, non-wrestling-y bits, and avoid the cringey adverts. Overall, it was fun, but I was left with a bit of disappointment. I’m putting a spoiler warning here. Wrestlemania concluded a couple of days before I wrote this article, and some… [Continue Reading]

Why You Should Try D&D 1st Edition

Dungeons & Dragons has come a long way from its early days. When OD&D first came out in 1974, it quickly caught fire and spread throughout the wargaming community. Almost five decades later, it’s still recognizably the game we love, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t also massively evolved. My only goal with this article is to encourage you to seize any opportunity to experience the singular wildness of old-school D&D. How? No idea, that’s probably the hardest part. I’ve only ever had one opportunity, and it was in 2011, while I was a professional Traveller GM for Strategicon. One… [Continue Reading]

Nora’s Choice Nightwave is Fine

In Warframe, we have a system called Nightwave. Really, it’s a season pass. You do these chores, you level up and get stuff. Not always good stuff, sometimes the rewards are kinda crap, but that’s the basic pattern. It keeps people coming back. I’ll be honest, the rewards aren’t always amazing. In fact, some rewards from past Nightwave events have been somewhat mediocre. But as you go along and level up, the rewards do definitely get better, and give out rare resources like Umbral Forma. Tasks of Many Flavors To be able to progress in Nightwave, you have to do… [Continue Reading]

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs and More Eggs

Between today, yesterday, and the day before yesterday, I’ve walked about 10 kilometers. With that 10km, tracked in Pokemon GO, I managed to hatch an egg. It gave me an Espurr, a Pokemon I forgot that it even existed. But as soon as that egg had hatched, I was already trying to pick what egg I should try and hatch next. I opted for a 12km egg, because I am looking for a female Salandit. That’s stupidly rare as it is, but these 12km eggs won’t hatch themselves. The problem is, I can’t hatch eggs fast enough with just the… [Continue Reading]

Why are Niantic Nerfing Remote Passes?

On March 30th, Niantic made an announcement regarding the future of remote raid passes. Simply put, they are increasing the price of remote passes to 195 coins, with a pack of three costing 525 coins. Even worse, they are reducing the amount of remote raids a player can do in one day, from infinite to 5. This announcement has popped up very suddenly, and the changes will occur on April 6th. Of course, no one likes any of these changes. Remote raids offer so much freedom. The changes made to remote passes are pretty damn drastic. Not only are they… [Continue Reading]

Team Rocket GO are Mediocre, But I Love Them.

Every Pokemon game has some bad group that do bad things and you, the 10 year old player character, have to go and stop them. In Pokemon GO, we get Team GO Rocket, run by what I assume is a clone of Giovanni. It’s called Team GO Rocket, either way, but Team Rocket GO is cooler. Or I can just call them Team, Rocket, it’s all the same. Still, probably better than Team Star in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Team Star just seems to be filled with kids bunking off school or something. Anyway, Team GO Rocket aren’t really much… [Continue Reading]
