Panda Express announces new dish
Panda Express pulled out the works on this new reveal, probably the first time I’ve seen a fast food chain livestream and hype up an addition to their menu.
As a diehard Pandaholic (not a real word), I was up and watching as they rolled out the red carpet in their first ever store to announce the new flavor, their first ever Facebook livestream. Then I rushed down to my local Panda Express and gave the new food a try for myself!
My opinion? It’s not as flavorful as the orange chicken, and it has a bit of an aftertaste, but its a good aftertaste. The vegetables are well-chosen, consisting of green beans and peppers, though I think Panda’s menu overuses onions for flavor. It’s not taking my top slot over their venerable orange chicken, but I might start getting it as my second entree instead of Sweetfire chicken breast. To be honest it’s more than a little silly how much hype they drummed up for an otherwise very normal addition to any Chinese menu. I admit up until now I’ve always been kinda surprised they DIDN’T have General Tso’s. They’ve done much weirder things like orange chicken w/ bacon or paw plates without the fanfare. But it tastes good and it’ll get people into the stores, which can only be good for business.
