A Nice Day of Cooking

Sometimes, it’s nice to have a day away from my laptop. Of course, I’m not away from my laptop because I’m typing this article, but the rest of today has been really nice and relaxed. And what did I do with my time away from my desk? I spent it in the kitchen, making and baking things. Something calm and easy, simple for the soul. This carrot cake was the first thing I made. It doesn’t look like a carrot cake from above, because it has a smooth, chocolate-y glaze covering the top. Inside however is very carrot-y but also… [Continue Reading]

Several Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Run Away in Sea of Thieves

When you’re sailing on the Sea of Thieves, there’s always a ton of adventure to be had. From looting ghost forts to finding lost relics, there’s plenty of gold and treasure to be had. However, you’re rarely ever alone, and an enemy ship could turn up at any moment. While some people see an enemy ship as an opportunity, most pirates we encounter try to run away and flee. But that’s the worst thing you can do. Here are several reasons as to why you should fight back, rather than run away. It’s quicker If someone is pursuing you, they… [Continue Reading]

We should just make all passes remote passes.

Right now, I have about 15 Pokecoins in Pokemon Go. At the same time, I am kinda in the middle of nowhere. So there are no local gyms around, which means I can’t get any coins, and I definitely can’t do any raids. There is one red gym within a reasonable distance, but it not only hasn’t had good raids on it, but it’s also fiercely defended by one person. Simply put, anything gym-related is out of reach for me. No Pokecoins, no gym battles and no decent raids at all. Especially since that red gym has had no good… [Continue Reading]

Research Breakthroughs Completely Suck

Today, as I do every week, I completed my seven days of research and was given a Research Breakthroughy. Breakthroughs are a reward for playing regularly and doing research tasks. You get some supplies, some experience and an encounter with a Pokemon, which normally changes with every new month. However, the quality of these rewards varies greatly. To the point of pointlessness. The old days were best Back in 2019, when research breakthroughs became a thing, the rewards from research breakthroughs were genuinely awesome. They’d mostly be a Legendary of some sort. And not just the Kanto legendary Birbs either… [Continue Reading]

Cookies: Hard to Get Right

I love baking, and one of my favourite things I like to bake are cookies. After all, a cookie cooks a lot quicker than other types of cake and dessert, and you can bake lots of them in one go. But there is a science with cookies, and how to make the sort of cookie you want. Turns out, it’s hard to bake a cookie that matches or betters store-baked stuff. Okay, sure, there are many types of cookie. In this article, I’m more looking at the big, gooey American cookies, often with chocolate chips and occasionally M&Ms, nuts and… [Continue Reading]

Duviri Delays

Unfortunately, in Devstream 165, it was announced that the Duviri Paradox, the next massive story quest, is going to be delayed until 2023. For a lot of people, this is a major disappointment. Especially since, during Tennocon, we were told that the Duviri Paradox would be coming this year. As for me, I really don’t see this as a bad thing. After all, the Duviri Paradox has a lot to unpack, and a completely different modding system. Warframe is a buggy game In fact, Warframe has always been a buggy game. It can break in a myriad of ways. Even… [Continue Reading]

You Can’t Always Win in Video Games

The other day, the Sea of Thieves was particularly treacherous. Every ship we came across was jittery and aggressive, and loot and resources were pretty sparse. It seemed that pretty much everyone was out for blood, when we just wanted to battle a skelly fort. We hadn’t done much actual killing intentionally. Most of our attacks were self defense, and people getting too close to our skelly fort and the Ashen Lord on it. Well, there was one other ship that wanted to attack us, then turned around and started running. We just chased after them, slowly catching up until… [Continue Reading]

Everything is a Syndicate these days

When Veilbreaker came out, I had a hell of a time playing the very first mission. It had a slow start, but built up in a pretty cool way, eventually ending with exploding ships and help from an unexpected place. The Veilbreaker quest was great, and I do wish that there was more of it. The characters in the Veilbreaker quest were excellent, and it set up quite a strange situation, where we sort of end up helping a quaint little base on Earth. Of course, I’m talking about Kahl. Veilbreaker is all about the plucky Grineer saving and serving… [Continue Reading]

Dratini Classic Community Day

Classic Community Days are odd. They bring back an old Pokemon from a previous Community Day and basically do it all again. For November, our classic Pokemon was Dratini, the cute little snakey dragon Pokemon. I happen to really like Dratini and Dragonair, so a chance to stock up on fresh shinies is nice. But this classic day was slightly odd. Cute shiny, mediocre move Dratini has one of the cutest shinies in Pokemon, especially in Gen 1. It goes a wonderful bright pink, matching its pink eyes. Dragonair is just as beautiful, and is one of my favourite Pokemon,… [Continue Reading]

Everyone Else Takes Ages To Die

While playing Overwatch, I noticed that I am pretty much always the first to die. I die super fast and generally from behind. There is so much going on that I can’t tell where all this damage is coming from. A lot of this is just basic newbie stuff. After all, there are 30 characters which I need to learn to recognise. I’m a brand new player and not overly good at FPS games in general. However, what I can’t seem to shake is just how long it takes for me to kill someone. Everyone else doesn’t die instantly like… [Continue Reading]
