On The Increased Chances To Catch Shinies in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go was my third real look into Pokemon, outside of the old trading card game when I was very young and the anime with Ash and his omnipotent Pikachu, which I have watched both in English and in really badly dubbed Greek in which all the characters shared two voices. Technically, it’s the first proper Pokemon game I ever played, mainly because I just had all the wrong consoles, namely being a Playstation and PC person. This though has conditioned me to see super rare aspects in normal Pokemon games, like Shinies, Mythicals and Legendaries, in a completely different… [Continue Reading]

Dead Articles

Being a new year and a new decade, sometimes I think about clearing out all the backlogs and finishing off a lot of unfinished stuff. After all, every time I log in to the Daily SPUF to write an article, I am met with the same old message, the same reminder that there are nearly a hundred articles sitting in the Drafts section, unwanted and unloved. The same goes for the Pending section, which is currently sparsely populated with four mediocre backup articles that I can schedule if I really fuck up and don’t have anything else to publish. But… [Continue Reading]

Are Shaders and Realistic Texture Packs Worth It in Minecraft?

Now that I have a computer that isn’t completely shit (and has a working keyboard), I’ve been able to try upping the graphics on a lot of the games I play. While my first choice was to max out the graphics in Skyrim, after realizing that I’d have to mess around setting up Mod Organizer and building a new mod setup again, I decided to see what other games I could add shaders and stuff to. And somehow, after skipping over things like Warframe and Destiny 2, I ended up looking into Minecraft. Why Minecraft? Because Minecraft is as mod-able,… [Continue Reading]

Five Pokemon Who Need Party Hats

The Hatch-a-thon has returned in Pokemon Go, meaning that we get extra rewards for hatching Pokemon from eggs and there’s a massive 50k stardust reward for walking 50km in a week. This also means that Pikachu in a Party Hat is popping up in the wild, with Pichu in eggs and Raichu wandering around with a party hat feeling unloved as always. But 2020’s Hatch-a-thon also brings with it some new Pokemon! Raticate and Wobbuffet can be found in raids with party hats and Wurmple and its family can be hatched from eggs with party hats, all of which can… [Continue Reading]

Smallnaros

“Welcome to my throne!” Inaros beamed as he welcomed Volt in with open arms. The room was filled with Ayatan Sculptures, all thrown into a vaguely chair-shaped heap. Around the base of the Ayatan heap was a small collection of noggles, most of which were of bobble-headed Inaroses. “What do you think?” Volt glanced around the rest of the room. Everything was black with red highlights, all matching a very specific theme. “I think I left you alone for too long. I was gone for a few days and boom, you’ve made yourself into a tank and turned into the… [Continue Reading]

Unpopular Opinion: I have no issue with Riven Mods

With the current debacle about how RNG is ruining Warframe and how the randomness and difficulty of obtaining good loot with both Kuva Lich weapons and ephemeras and the randomized stats on dropped Empyrean stuff, Riven mods often get referred to as even more bad RNG that started all this randomized loot messiness off. But frankly, Riven mods aren’t that bad. At the very least, they are not Team Fortress 2 Crates levels of bad. Allow me to explain why I think this. First though, we do need to admit some problems with Riven mods. Because while I don’t have… [Continue Reading]

The Troubles With Shopkeepers Who Bring Items Every Two Weeks

The idea of a secretive, mystical trader who comes along at a set time every couple of weeks, selling a rotating stock of rare items not available elsewhere, sounds like a great idea in a game, as it inspires people not just to check back regularly but to keep on playing so that players can afford to buy the rare things this magical trader brings. Baro Ki’Teer is one such trader. A stuck-up bastard who pisses most players off in three ways: his wares are very expensive for new players, middling players wait for weeks and months trying to get… [Continue Reading]

The Take-Over Continues – The Team Rocket Quest Again

Back in November, we were introduced to the quest Looming in the Shadows, which introduced Team GO Rocket Leaders and of course the Boss Giovanni into Pokemon Go, with a series of tasks that led you to obtaining the first shadow legendary, Articuno. Then, in December, we got the special research A Challenging Development, which was exactly the same set of tasks except for the fact that you got a shadow Zapdos instead of a shadow Articuno. Now, in 2020, we have a new yet identical series of tasks called The Take-Over Continues. Which will give us a shadow Moltres.… [Continue Reading]

On Using DynDOLOD

Skyrim, even without mods, has always looked kinda pretty up close, but if you look more than a few grids away (the loading distances Skyrim sorta uses) then everything goes to crap. Things pop in and out of existence, grass ceases to exist, textures look awful… it’s just all round a shitty look. There have been numerous attempts to fix this stuff so that the distance looks at least tolerable compared to the pretty area loaded around you, but the only real solution is DynDOLOD. DynDOLOD is basically a program that combs through your installed mods and automatically creates dynamic… [Continue Reading]

Too Many Buddies, Not Enough Time

As it stands I adore the new buddy system in Pokemon Go. It’s actually a very refreshing change of pace to the old buddy system, where your Pokemon of choice would just sit on your profile, occasionally yawning with boredom and staring off into the blue, red or yellow void. The new buddy system lets your Pokemon stretch its legs or wings or feet or fins or whatever appendages it uses to move and it will run around you, bring you gifts and help you catch Pokemon. Even the cost of berries isn’t that much. Most people are tripping over… [Continue Reading]
