5 Oddly Related Video Game Songs I fall to sleep to

I’ve been pretty tired lately. Life has been hectic and I’ve had a lot on my mind. Even writing articles has been a bit of a problem. Now, after five years of writing daily, I’m actually facing writers block. But in the mean time, I’ve been looking for music to listen to. Mostly for me to fall asleep. And now that I have a nice pair of headphones I can wear in bed, I can finally get some better sleep. Funnily enough though, as I was making a Spotify playlist, I realised that, well, some of the songs I listen… [Continue Reading]

Eliza and the Nancys

When it comes to anything musical, I am unfortunately a lost cause. Not only can I not hold a tune, but I can’t hold a beat either. While, yes, I love listening to music and singing alone, it’s purely for my own amusement. My singing voice has been compared to a “cat being strangled”. I’m not THAT bad at singing, but the only positive way you can describe my musical talent is “crap but enthusiastic”. Thankfully, the rest of my family not only puts up with my tuneless enthusiasm, but they all have some sort of musical talent. My siblings,… [Continue Reading]

On Warframe and Earworms

If you asked me what the best part of the Call of the Tempestarii update was, my answer would be obvious. The music. Warframe’s soundtrack has always been amazing. And for this update, they blew it out of the water. Vaguely nautical pun intended, thanks to Warframe’s newest earworm. Sleeping in the Dark Below is an amazing space sea shanty. In fact, it’s been stuck in my head for days. An amazing, catchy song. Lyrical songs in Warframe are kinda rare. So when they do pop up, I’m always happy. Sleeping in the Dark Below ticks all the boxes as… [Continue Reading]

Medic’s 5 Most Beloved Minecraft Music Tracks

Minecraft’s music is amazing. While most games have kinda heavy tracks that play constantly, Minecraft’s music fades in and out. You’ll only ever catch a hint of music, before everything fades back to quiet. The only exceptions are the music discs, but you need to hunt those down. This means that the tracks kinda blend into one another. You can’t always tell songs apart. And, like most video game music, you often have to track down the songs themselves later. But thanks to technology (and me looking up the tracks), I actually know what these damn songs are called. Knowing… [Continue Reading]

Who Actually Plays Pokemon GO with Sound on?

The other day, I was having a bit of trouble with Pokemon GO. For some reason, it wouldn’t believe I was connected to the internet or had access to GPS. So I decided to reinstall the app on my phone. Of course, doing so reset all my settings. So all the sound effects and music, which I normally have turned off, all turned back on. Damn, this game is loud. Like, really loud. Every single tap of the screen seems to produce a noise. It’s very, very distracting. The sounds also make it super obvious what you are doing. Sure,… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Radiohead Tracks

All of a sudden, pretty much every Radiohead song ever released has ended up on Youtube. This includes not just their main albums but even the music track they did for the James Bond movie Spectre and a lot of their side-albums and unreleased stuff. Why? I have no idea. But I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth because I’m too busy listening to Radiohead. Seriously, pretty much every song is here, and you can access all of them on Youtube via their albums here. How did I get into Radiohead? I’m not really sure, it’s… [Continue Reading]

Help! I’ve Been Listening To Minecraft Music on Loop!

I’ve written articles on video game music in the past, but that was mostly a collection of songs I like, including one really obscure, sped up version of a track from the Binding of Isaac, as well as songs that essentially haunt my psyche while also being very pretty to listen to. aabicus also wrote an article a while ago (although still somewhat recently) about Team Fortress 2 remix songs he’s heard and enjoyed, and frankly that’s a whole different ballpark of craziness. But right now, I’ve been listening to the same four Minecraft tracks on loop and I have… [Continue Reading]

My Favorite TF2 Community Remixes

TF2 has one of the oldest and proudest fan communities in gaming history. Part of it stems from the radical new approach Valve took when designing the playable classes; never before had a shooter made every class into a fully three-dimensional character with personalities, backstories, and Pixar-level visual design. The brilliant writing and voice acting was the cherry on top that propelled our nine favorite mercenaries into top-ten lists throughout the internet upon release. Valve was richly rewarded with a thriving community of artists, animators, and other creatives who showed their love for the TF2 characters through peripheral content that… [Continue Reading]

Songs That Make Me Stop

I remember being told a story, years ago, about going into a shop and having everyone stop what they were doing because a song came on. Being a story from a long time ago, I don’t remember any of the details, who it was or where they were shopping or why, but I do remember the name of the album that the song was on: Everyone is Here by the Finn Brothers. What I don’t remember is what particular song it was. I think it was Edible Flowers, but here’s the thing – most of the songs on that album… [Continue Reading]
