15 Minutes of Pokemon GO Adventures

Recently, a new type of incense was added to Pokemon GO. This little blue incense doesn’t last very long, but if you go on a little walk, then you can catch some nice Pokemon. It’s called a Daily Adventure Incense, and it is a neat little addition, especially since you get a free one every day.

15 minutes of luring Pokemon to you.

The incense is pretty simple. It spawns a Pokemon a minute, if you are walking or otherwise moving. So you get 15 Pokemon at most, assuming you catch them all. However, I find I mostly just shiny check them and wait for the next spawn. After all, I don’t really need another Starly. What’s nice is that Pokemon spawned via the Daily Adventure incense have a small blue cloud around them, as well as a symbol on the catch screen. Useful when your Pokemon spawns between a bunch of other Pokemon.

The incense can only be used once a day, and you get a new one at midnight. Once the incense runs out, you get a screen showing all the Pokemon you caught with said incense. For some reason, you can share this image with your friends. It’s nice if you get a shiny, but it’s not really important.

“Any good spawns?”

The pool for these Pokemon seem to be based on local spawns and event spawns, but there are quite a few evolved Pokemon in the spawn pool too. The other day, I got a Rhydon and a Sealeo from my daily adventure incense. And one time, I got a whole Machamp out of it. Just like seasonal spawns, these evolved Pokemon are uncommon but you do get a few of them.

I’ve also seen a handful of other rare spawns. I got a Gible from one and a shiny Drifloon from another. But most of the time, you’ll only get common event spawns and the odd Granbull that slips through.

There’s also Legendary Pokemon!

Yep, you can actually get the Galarian Legendary Birds from the daily adventure incense. However, the chance is very small. I’ve seen two, and I tend to use the incense once every other day, yet I haven’t seen any legendary birds in ages. The chance is said to be similar to the legendary beasts from the Johto region. And that means their catch rate is tiny too. Apparently, even with golden berries and ultra balls, the chance of actually catching one of these birds is 5%.

Basically, almost all of them will flee. Sad. You need to be super lucky to catch one.

The downside? You must be pretty mobile.

You have to be somewhat able to walk around to make the most out of the daily adventure incense. I’ve found that walking in a straight line is best. On times where I’ve gone back on myself, or traveled around a corner, the incense sometimes doesn’t trigger a spawn.

That being said, sometimes the game flat out refuses to spawn anything at all. I had an incense waste 5 minutes and thus five Pokemon, because the game didn’t think I was walking, even though I was. There are definitely still some kinks that need to be ironed out. Although that might also just be drops in mobile data or GPS not working or something.

At the end of the day, it is just a small, free incense, but it’s neat. Still not as good as old incense though…
