Ferroseed Incense Day Sucked

Ugh. These events lately. They are making me sad. Like, really sad. Incense days are tedious. All you can do is stare at your phone, waiting for a spawn, making sure you don’t miss one. Meanwhile, everything around you is just standard normal spawns. You don’t get any bonuses like XP or stardust like Community Days, you don’t even get great shiny chances like the (allegedly) 1/10 shiny chance in Research events*. It’s a rough 1/25 to 1/64 chance at the event shiny, and standard 1/400 chances for anything else. And you can’t even specifically look for the event Pokemon,… [Continue Reading]

Bounsweet Community Day

You know what? This community day fucking sucked. Bounsweet is one of those small, annoying Pokemon with a kinda meh shiny, a fucky hitbox and no windup for its attack animation. And, for some reason, it’s getting a Community Day before something useful, like the next starter Pokemon, Popplio. This stupid little berry Pokemon apparently is getting its chance to shine in the spotlight. Why? No idea. But this Pokemon is a bastard. It’s small, hard to catch and attacks a lot. And before you say “get good”, I want to point out that I can reliably land excellent throws… [Continue Reading]

Stupid Bird Event

I normally like research days. But the problem is, you’re always completely limited by how many Pokestops there are near you. And right now, there are only 20 Pokestops near me, that I can be bothered to walk to. I could get in my car and drive down to the harbour, but today, the wind is hot, the sun is burning and it’s tourist season now and I don’t want to walk among large crowds. But the thing is, we don’t even really get interesting birds. The only interesting one is Rufflet, which isn’t very useful, but I don’t have… [Continue Reading]

I just want to say fuck you to the four people who brought dragon types to a Tapu Fini raid and made us lose.

I just want to say fuck you to the four people who brought dragon types to a Tapu Fini raid and made us lose. Yes, the four of you. I am blaming all four of you for failing a raid that should have been comfortably doable with three people. I’m just one person. Sure, I’m one person with an ARMY of Kartanas, a bunch of powered up Zekroms, a perfect Shadow Magnezone and 4 level 40 Metagrosses, but I can only do so much damage. I need the rest of you to bring Pokemon that Tapu Fini is also weak… [Continue Reading]

Revenge Unfulfilled

In the way the Phoviverse is written, technically, previous versions are still somewhat canon. Major events within previous MKs still happen in some way, although the names and details may have been altered or erased by the passing of history and the meddling of Time Drakes, the divine beings that govern the flow of Time within the Phoviverse. Today’s story isn’t set in the current Phoviverse MK5 era. It’s set in a long, distant past, all the way back in MK3, tying up a single string that I never really got around to dealing with. A vague, twisted answer to… [Continue Reading]

Announcing the Fiction Fun Category

So yeah I know I said I was taking a break and stuff but I don’t want to leave this blog completely dead. While writing articles has been a real struggle for me as of late, I have been writing more and more fiction. In fact, checking over on my Phoviverse website, in the last month alone, my stories have hit the top 10 for most words like 5 times. But since I’m writing so much there, I decided I can put some of that to good use. No, that doesn’t mean I’ll be publishing every Phoviverse article here. Because… [Continue Reading]

Stardew Valley – The Pursuit of Perfection

Stardew Valley rocketed back into the gaming zeitgeist in March 2024 by releasing the much-awaited Update 1.6, which famously ballooned from its “minor quality-of-life patch for modders” beginnings when first announced. Like many players, I’d loved the game back in the day and created many fond memories in the valley, but new releases and the neverending search for novelty had pulled my attention to different (if not always greener) pastures. But the promise of fresh content brought me back, first to prepare my farm by whittling down my in-game bucket list, and second to save on Spring 1 of the… [Continue Reading]

Xeno Dessaron One VS Temthans of Anarchy

Hey, remember that week where I posted fiction from the Phoviverse? You know, that silly story arc of four adventurers, dubbed Xeno Dessaron One, killed some big, scary monsters? Well, these guys are normally gladiators, and, in the Phoviverse, they just got their first proper match in ages. Let’s see how it goes. Finally, after weeks of nothing, someone had finally stepped up to challenge Xeno Dessaron One. The problem was, the team that had stepped up was the Temthans of Anarchy, demanding a rematch. They were the team Xeno Dessaron One managed to beat just before the Whenvern crashed… [Continue Reading]
