Ah, Geoff. It’s about time someone dusted you off. Since the Quick Fix’s fix in the Move That Gear Update, the Vaccinator has been widely regarded as the worst of all Mediguns- it does not have the powerful stopping power of stock and the Quick-Fix, nor the incredible offensive power the Kritzkrieg can dish out. The largest element in TF2 that doesn’t affect gameplay at all are hats. You could argue that I could leave out ‘that doesn’t affect gameplay at all’ and still be correct. But anyway, since the Move That Gear Update this summer, the last link between cosmetics and actual gameplay was broken with the removal of the Polycount set bonuses. Last Saturday our very own SPUF server was home to a new tournament, the Guillotine Games! There were 14 participants in total who fought for the title ‘Cleaverest guy on SPUF’ and a trophy to take home with them and show the world that they were the last scout standing! The tournament started off with a King of the Hill on koth_harvest. The First Annual Guillotine Games!
So what is this all about?You will be fighting with and against other scouts with this exact same loadout. Your only means to kill are Sandman balls or cleaver hits. Hit them in succession to gain a very satisfying instant kill. Way to duck, pallie!
Once you’ve thrown them both, however, you’re harmless until the recharge, so best start chasing those Sandman balls!We will be playing several map types: Koth, Arena and 5CP. Again, only killing with the aforementioned weapons!After that, we will play an individual tourney. In tense 1 on 1 matches it will become obvious who the better Scout is, who will then be fighting other winners, and in the end, only one remains: the victor of the First Annual Guillotine Games!
So sharpen your cleavers and swing your bats for the upcoming tournament, and be the Last Man… well, boy, Standing!
