Game of TF2hrones

NOTE: Although there are no book spoilers in this post, caveat lector, because I will assume you’ve seen season 1 to 3. This Sunday (Or Monday for all my European friends, including me) the Greatest Show on Earth started its fourth season. And let me tell you, we’re in for a treat this time. Which got me wondering, what if this got paired with the Greatest Game on Earth? What would TF2 look like in a medieval setting- oh, wait. Which lead to another important question: what Game of Thrones characters represent our favorite team mercs the best? I came… [Continue Reading]

Tweaking the Vaccinator

In my previous article┬áI went through the basics of the Vaccinator, about how and when to use it. Since then, I’ve been using it more – in the niche area I’ve talked about: with a buddy on Steamchat and on a King of the Hill map – and I remain convinced that this medigun is severely underused. Nonetheless, I found a few things that need to be adressed to fully flesh out the medigun that emphazises team communication the most in Team Fortress. Because right now, the Vaccinator is suffering from some quirks that make it less effective than it… [Continue Reading]

Vaccinator 101

Ah, Geoff. It’s about time someone dusted you off. Since the Quick Fix’s fix in the Move That Gear Update, the Vaccinator has been widely regarded as the worst of all Mediguns- it does not have the powerful stopping power of stock and the Quick-Fix, nor the incredible offensive power the Kritzkrieg can dish out. Gathering dust in backpacks everywhere, the Vaccinator is largely unappreciated and almost never used. Use it, and get yelled at. And I’ll have to admit, the Vaccinator is not at all made to be an all-round solid medigun. While every medigun has its place, it’s… [Continue Reading]

Using Cosmetics To Your Advantage

The largest element in TF2 that doesn’t affect gameplay at all are hats. You could argue that I could leave out ‘that doesn’t affect gameplay at all’ and still be correct. But anyway, since the Move That Gear Update this summer, the last link between cosmetics and actual gameplay was broken with the removal of the Polycount set bonuses. The only bonus these sets give you now is a merely cosmetic and merely visible tombstone after you kill an adversary. That said, cosmetics can still turn the tide of your battles and may even help your team! Here are several… [Continue Reading]

The Guillotine Games are over!

Last Saturday our very own SPUF server was home to a new tournament, the Guillotine Games! There were 14 participants in total who fought for the title ‘Cleaverest guy on SPUF’ and a trophy to take home with them and show the world that they were the last scout standing! The tournament started off with a King of the Hill on koth_harvest. What started off as something that seemed an endless match, during the match the point switched hands several times and both teams were struggling to cap the point and wipe out the opposing team blocking the capture point.… [Continue Reading]

The Guillotine Games!

You surely know the Scout. You probably know he’s a baseball fan from Boston. You may know his mom has been having some romantic visits from his co-worker. But did you know he has ties with the Chinese mafia? Or that he is actually just a very lonely guy that needs a hug? Okay, that last part may not be true, but either way, the Red Sox, the Chinese mafia, and I are proud to present the upcoming event: The First Annual Guillotine Games! So what is this all about? You will be fighting with and against other scouts with this… [Continue Reading]
