Everything is a Syndicate these days

When Veilbreaker came out, I had a hell of a time playing the very first mission. It had a slow start, but built up in a pretty cool way, eventually ending with exploding ships and help from an unexpected place. The Veilbreaker quest was great, and I do wish that there was more of it. The characters in the Veilbreaker quest were excellent, and it set up quite a strange situation, where we sort of end up helping a quaint little base on Earth. Of course, I’m talking about Kahl. Veilbreaker is all about the plucky Grineer saving and serving… [Continue Reading]

Planetside 2 Breaks Its Own World Record

Last week Planetside 2 made a bold announcement. On November 5th, they invited everyone to connect to the Public Test Server and break their own record for “Most Players in a Single FPS Battle.” The current record, 1158, was already held by them and achieved in 2015. For anyone who missed that milestone, this was an exciting opportunity to play a part in Planetside 2 history. Now, despite playing Planetside 2 since 2013, I’d skipped the previous world record attempt and knew I didn’t want to miss this one. So I preloaded the test client and generated a PTS character in advance.… [Continue Reading]

Dratini Classic Community Day

Classic Community Days are odd. They bring back an old Pokemon from a previous Community Day and basically do it all again. For November, our classic Pokemon was Dratini, the cute little snakey dragon Pokemon. I happen to really like Dratini and Dragonair, so a chance to stock up on fresh shinies is nice. But this classic day was slightly odd. Cute shiny, mediocre move Dratini has one of the cutest shinies in Pokemon, especially in Gen 1. It goes a wonderful bright pink, matching its pink eyes. Dragonair is just as beautiful, and is one of my favourite Pokemon,… [Continue Reading]

Everyone Else Takes Ages To Die

While playing Overwatch, I noticed that I am pretty much always the first to die. I die super fast and generally from behind. There is so much going on that I can’t tell where all this damage is coming from. A lot of this is just basic newbie stuff. After all, there are 30 characters which I need to learn to recognise. I’m a brand new player and not overly good at FPS games in general. However, what I can’t seem to shake is just how long it takes for me to kill someone. Everyone else doesn’t die instantly like… [Continue Reading]

Another Ramble about Costumed Pokemon

As of writing, we are on part 2 of a two-part Halloween event in Pokemon GO. Alongside all your normal ghost types, this year, we have a ton of new costumed Pokemon. But these costumed Pokemon are different. They can evolve. Yep, we got a costumed Vulpix and a costumed Pumpkaboo, and both of them can evolve into Ninetails and Gourgeist, keeping their costumes as they do so. Both of the basic Pokemon are also shiny-eligible but, although you can find wild Ninetails and Gourgeist with the costumes on, they can’t be shiny. Pretty common stuff with the shiny versions,… [Continue Reading]

Playing Sea of Thieves Solo Kinda Sucks

I love Sea of Thieves. It’s a great game where you can actually be a pirate, with no real moral ground to stand on. However, I’ve rarely played the game solo, and tend to avoid playing solo at all costs. Simply put, Sea of Thieves is very hostile for the single solo player. Too much for me to handle There is simply too much for one person to effectively do. Especially if you’re a newbie. I don’t want to call myself a newbie, but I am, my experience is very spread out. But there’s a ton of things to do.… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress 2 – A Game Without much of a Grind

The other day, I was browsing through my Team Fortress 2 inventory, which is really a relic of history these days, since I don’t play any more. As I looked at them, I realized something odd. I never had to grind to get those items. I either traded for them, they were given to me or I got them as a random drop. Almost all weapons are basically random drops these days, although most cosmetic items are generally paid for, either via trades or from keys spent and used on crates. While looking at my backpack, I came to a… [Continue Reading]

Zorua Is Both Here and Obvious

After a very, very long wait, Zorua is finally available in Pokemon GO. Debuting in the Halloween Event Part 2, Zorua had a rocky start and was initially disabled, but it was released towards the end of the event, ready to disguise itself. Because that’s what this familiar, well-loved Pokemon does. And who does it disguise as? Our buddies, of course. Zorua is very obvious. Normally, spawning disguised as your buddy sounds pretty cool. Especially if you’re walking something like a Noibat or perhaps a Deino. Seeing something rare on your Pokemon radar will make you rush over to it.… [Continue Reading]

Dice Throne

The other day, I played a board game called Dice Throne. The campaign was a simple one. Gather the dice shards from across the map, kill enemies and then kick the ass of a boss character. It’s a pretty fun game, but it is also pretty damn strange. The first thing that is strange is that there is no board. Instead, we have several scenarios, and we build a map using various cards of various difficulties. Each map has a portal card from which you start, various cards of locations with varying difficulties, and finally a boss tile where you… [Continue Reading]

A Brief Glance at Overwatch 2

You know what? Overwatch 2 is alright. I actually jumped into a few casual matches the other day with my boyfriend, and it was pretty fun. If a bit laggy. However, it’s definitely not perfect. Mostly just better than I expected. Starting fresh Since this was jumping in to Overwatch for the first time in years, I realised that I am starting from scratch. I have a limited pool of heroes, and a free season pass I definitely won’t finish. It kinda reminds me of playing League of Legends a little, especially with the ton of new heroes that have… [Continue Reading]
