Clamperl Research Day

When I saw the announcement for the Clamperl Community Research event, I thought two things: “Why is Clamperl only being released now?” and “Oh heck, is this going to be like the Feebas event?” Thankfully, while the answer to the first question is unknown, the answer to the second question is a resounding “NO!” It seems that Niantic learned a huge amount from the Feebas event because this Clamperl event was a billion times easier. First off, the research. Far better research. The Make Nice Throws and Make Great Throws tasks returned, but their numbers were reduced to 5 Nice… [Continue Reading]

How Difficult is Warframe Really?

When I first started playing Warframe, I thought the game was hard. All I had was an MK1-Paris and a stick to hit endless swarms of enemies with. Energy and health were always at a premium and I’d spend my time never casting abilities, desperately saving my energy for emergencies. 2000 hours later and I can do most missions with ease, cutting through said swarms of enemies with a bigger, pointier stick and an array of nasty weapons. I would even go as far as say that Warframe is a genuinely easy game. The thing is, Warframe’s difficulty is like… [Continue Reading]

A New Camera Mode for Pokemon Go

I’m going to be very blunt here: The AR (Augmented Reality) mode for Pokemon Go is a royal pain in the ass. Having to hold your phone and its camera steady while trying to catch anything but the most basic of Pokemon is awkward and you’ve got to spin around like a twonk trying to actually find the Pokemon because they’re never where you expect them to be. That’s why I was so thankful that the AR mode refused to work on both the Celebi and the Mew quests for me. That being said, the whole AR mode thing does… [Continue Reading]

Aliens Aliens Aliens

Space is big. Very big. Big enough that, if you printed out all the memes in the universe out and laid them side by side, there’d still be a fuckton of space left over. Heck, in our solar system alone, like 90% of it is nothing but empty space, punctuated by the odd asteroid. My point is, space is mindbogglingly big. But because it’s so big, that means there’s aliens in it, right? There’s gotta be tons of aliens, all looking for intelligent life. Loads of aliens looking up to the sky, just like we do, wondering whether there is… [Continue Reading]

In Defense of Khora and Her Powers of Defense

It seems that some people think that Khora is a bad Warframe, that she desperately needs a rework. To that, all I can say is that those people are wrong. It’s very easy to see why, because, like Revenant, Khora on release was a very mediocre frame with middling stats. There were a multitude of problems mostly focused on Venari, who was a timed ability rather than a passive. But these days, Khora is a very rounded, generalist Warframe who can do a bit of everything. I know I’ve written about Khora before, but having 1. just bought Khora for… [Continue Reading]

Melty Meltan and Melty Melmetal

It’s only taken me, what, four months to get Meltan? I finished the Let’s Go Meltan quest back in November and it’s now mid February. During those months, very little of interest happened with Meltan. I managed to acquire three mystery boxes by transferring some Pokemon to the two people I met who had Nintendo Switches and, thanks to trading Meltans once a day with my brother and the Valentines Day double candy event, I finally managed to acquire Melmetal. Melmetal requires 400 candies to evolve, joining the ranks of 3 other 400-candy evolutions Gyarados, Altaria and Wailord. The difference… [Continue Reading]

Overwatch’s Zenyatta

I’m slowly but surely trying to become proficient at every Overwatch healer. I consider myself a seasoned Lucio, Mercy, and Moira by this point, comfortable playing them even in competitive or any team comp. I’m capable of playing Brigitte and Soldier 76 if the team comp favors it, and I am absolute rubbish at Ana. That leaves Zenyatta, who I’m enjoying the more I play him, but the difficulty scale and the drawbacks to his kit are dampening my spirit somewhat. While I cautioned Moiras against focusing too much on dealing damage, Zenyattas suffer from no such restraint. Zenyatta is a… [Continue Reading]

Get To Extraction

After getting a friend back into Warframe, we decided to do an alert that popped up. It was a special half-hour survival mission that rewarded 30,000 credits and 10 Meso relics containing Saryn Prime components. During this mission, we kinda all split up a little bit. It was inside a Grineer Galleon and we’d been given a very large, sprawling tile set with lots of large corridors and massive rooms. During this mission the words “they’re just hiding down a corridor to get that sweet damage” were muttered. But honestly, no one should be caring about damage dealt. Or damage… [Continue Reading]

An Elf, a Dwarf, a Kitsune and Literal Insanity

I’m going to be honest and blunt here, I should have started playing Dungeons and Dragons years ago. Or Pathfinder, which is DnD 3.5 and still very nice. Or just roleplaying table top games like this in general. It’s fun as heck. And, with the right person leading your games, it can all lead to literal insanity. My first character is Rhyn’Go AmWoluff. Rhyn’Go was originally going to be a Catfolk Druid with a cat familiar based on my real life pet cat Ringo, but I just didn’t have the right stats for it. So Rhyn’Go became a Kitsune Druid… [Continue Reading]

Display: Flex

Back when I was little, we made websites using HTML and a bit of CSS, with PHP or ASP or Python to do server-side stuff and Javascript to do client-side stuff. These days, we still use HTML and a bit of CSS, alongside all those other things. But thanks to, well, science, technology and the W3C I guess, we can do soooo much more with just HTML and CSS. Like, for example, rounded corners. In the old days, we had to use images for rounded corners, or weird janky hacks if we wanted rounded corners on anything related to Internet… [Continue Reading]
