The Scotsman’s Skullcutter

I’m really not fussy when it comes to Demoman melee weapons. I don’t mean Demoknight melee weapons, because that I do care about. I used to be a fan of the Persian Persuader before it was murdered and a pretender put in his place. I then messed around with my HHHH for a bit. But truth be told, I like it better when things go ka-BOOM. So I only ever ran Demoknight when I ever touched Medieval Mode. In normal gameplay, I prefer to be chucking bombs from a comfortable distance. And don’t you dare suggest that I’m spamming explosives blindly,… [Continue Reading]

Hyped up for the Plains of Eidolon

Digital Extremes, the developers of Warframe, blew the entire community’s minds when they revealed the Plains of Eidolon at Tennocon 2017. Everyone was sitting there expecting an Excalibur Umbra reveal and it turned out that Umbra was just a little thing tacked on to something amazing. A quest that’s supposedly coming after this amazing thing. A thing that I kinda didn’t really write much about, since the gameplay video really said it all, but since time’s passed and we’ve got some new details, it’s worth looking back and getting a little hyped about. The Plains of Eidolon have been advertised… [Continue Reading]

Some Ideas for New Minecraft Biomes

While Minecraft has come a long way when it comes to terrain and the variety of biomes it has, there could always be more. As you spawn into a new world and wander around, it takes time to find anything interesting. There’s trees, hills, grass, mountains. Sometimes those trees, hills, grass and mountains will have snow on them. Sometimes you’ll see a desert. But most of the time it’s all the same. The genuinely interesting biome variants, things like Bryce Mesas, Mushroom Islands and Ice Spike Plains, are often so rare that you could go for weeks without seeing anything… [Continue Reading]

Cyprus Comic Con 2017 – Thoughts

So, Cyprus Comic Con day one has passed and now we’re on day two. I’m writing this at 9am after a nice little breakfast at a hotel fifteen minutes away. Brother slept like a log, but me and sister couldn’t really sleep. Dunno why. Breakfast at the hotel was basic. Ham, cheese, eggs, bread, cereal. Mini buffet thing. The hotel is super quiet. It actually mostly has older people in it. I assume most non-locals booked places closer or just went home. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that sister REALLY wanted to go to the after party, we… [Continue Reading]

Army Gals Poker DLC Review

Yesterday Army Gals came out with a new DLC where the four main characters play strip poker! Considering I complained about the lack of a dynamic poker game in my review of the base visual novel, I had little choice but to try this new content to see how it fared. My expectations going into the DLC were pretty lenient. I wasn’t expecting Deep Blue levels of expertise from the AI, to be honest I mostly just wanted to see what would happen when you played strip poker without the corresponding off-Steam patch that allowed nudity. Basically, turns out each… [Continue Reading]

Returning to One’s (Electric) Roots

It’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally reached the point that many older Warframe players are at, with a nice armory of weapons, a nice collection of companions, a maxed out Focus school, a cool-looking Space Kid and a wardrobe of Warframes ready to be taken on any mission. Well, almost. But sitting in the back of said wardrobe is an often forgotten little friend. My original starter Warframe, Volt. I never sold Volt, I could never bring myself to do it. He’d put up with me flailing all over the place, falling down pits and running into walls… [Continue Reading]

Volt, Mercy and Handsome Jack go to Cyprus Comic Con 2017

It’s Comic Con time! Yep, old Medic here is going out into the real world for a change, getting some sun on her face and potentially even socializing with other people. How silly is that? Well, not very because I did this last year, while dressed up as the Pyro. Oh and I did it back in 2015 as well, where I dressed up as a female version of Malzahar from League of Legends. Unlike most articles, I’ll be updating this one as I go along, so check back every so often and perhaps maybe I’ll have some cool news,… [Continue Reading]

Competitive Overwatch: Going For Gold

If you were to check out the videos on my YouTube channel, the GIFs on my Gfycat account, or my screenshots in various Daily SPUF articles, you would notice that I’ve been stuck squarely in gold for the entirety of my competitive Overwatch career. On occasion I’m able to pull things together and drag myself into low platinum, especially back in Season 2 where Blizzard’s misbegotten bell curve strategy ensured that 70% of players were in plat, but it’s not long before I either settle back down or a new season starts and subtracts 500 SR for reasons I understand but intensely… [Continue Reading]

The New QOTSA Album – Villains

When it comes to reviewing things, I’m always late to the punch. But with a lot of things, you need some time to listen and let things settle down a bit. Maybe you just need to absorb what you just watched. Maybe you need to watch, read or listen again. That’s definitely the case with the new Queens of the Stone Age album, Villains. The first song I heard was their two singles, The Way You Used To Do and The Evil Has Landed. I didn’t really listen to them too much in detail because I wanted to hear the… [Continue Reading]

Destiny 2 Open Beta – A Lot of Hassle For Something Somewhat Generic

So I spent twelve hours slowly downloading Destiny 2. It’s brilliant, everyone told me. It’s like a cross between Warframe and Borderlands, multiple people said to me. You HAVE to try the Open Beta! But as I downloaded the game, a lot of worries went through my head. Wasn’t Destiny 1 supposed to be a long-running game? Didn’t it need a bunch of DLCs to be playable? What if Destiny 2 is exactly the same? I haven’t actually played Destiny 1, but that’s what reviews told me. Finally, I got the game installed. Except it wouldn’t work. I spent 30… [Continue Reading]
