I Finally Figured Out Why I Do and Don’t Like Destiny 2

I have a massive love/hate relationship with Destiny 2. It’s a game that I have drifted to and from, right from the start. Okay, sure, I never played Destiny 1. But when the beta came out on PC, aabicus and I played it, doing the one available strike on Nesus. While it was, well, alright, Destiny 2 didn’t really stick to me. In fact, many of the previous articles I have written about Destiny 2 have been somewhat negative. In the mean time, I played other games. Warframe is the big name among them, and had just the right balance… [Continue Reading]

It’s All Lilith’s Fault

I’m not normally a hateful person. I have strong dislikes for things, but I often don’t have the heart to say I genuinely hate something. But like everything, there are always exceptions, and after playing a little Borderlands 1 and 2, and seeing the end to Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel, I’ve found myself someone I can justifiably hate. Well, not just someone. Almost everyone hates the Claptrap unit in Borderlands 2, and for good reason. Being dragged through an icy hellhole for the lengthy duration of the tutorial area is bad enough without Claptrap screaming at me all the way through.… [Continue Reading]

I “hate” Dust2

There are many articles about what makes Dust2 a good map, about what makes it popular, and so on and so forth. However there are also many reasons as to why one would dislike Dust2 and that is what this article is about. Now don’t get me wrong popular maps are usually pretty good right? Unfortunately in a game like CS:GO popularity is also a downside. Because it means even if you add other choices into the mix you will still get the popular map 85-90% of the time. Which means a map like Dust2 is gonna get real stale real… [Continue Reading]

Bad Badwater

You play enough of a map, eventually you become good at it. You learn all the nooks and crannies, all the secret little hideouts, the best places to do X and Y and Z. And maybe eventually you’ll realise you’ve wasted a ton of your life on one single map and should probably move on and learn about the vast number of other maps out there. Or maybe you’re all normal people who, unlike me, play more than one map at a time. Maybe, maybe not. One of the many maps though that pops up on a regular basis is… [Continue Reading]

I Hate cp_egypt_final

I can’t think of one match I’ve played on this map where I had fun as either team. As BLU, you get spammed by an endless barrage of rockets and stickybombs all match simply trying to leave your spawn or reach the point while being funneled through narrow chokepoints. As RED, you’re practically indestructible and simply demolish the enemy team over and over with ease. If BLU somehow even manage to catch the scent of the control point, just detonate stickies or spam the centre. Almost all the capture points on this map are horrible, little boxes which make splash… [Continue Reading]

I Hate ctf_doublecross

Sometimes the worse a map is designed, the more gratifying it feels to win. It makes it tolerable. Perhaps even fun despite the flaws. But this is not one of those maps. The only words I can think of to concisely explain my feelings for this map are: even when you win, you lose. I can be ahead by a mile on this map and I’m still scowling the entire time. Capture the flag is already irritating enough, but then you throw this in the mix and it becomes torture. I find everything in this map to feel so lackluster.… [Continue Reading]

A Hatred of 2fort

Whew, haven’t been on the Daily SPUF in a long time! Let’s get straight into it, shall we? I’m choosing to write about everyone’s favourite snoozefest, 2fort. I’m pretty sure 2fort was the first map created for the game (could be wrong, but similar maps are a staple in first person shooters. Just ask Quake.) and it’s statistically the most played map in the game at 16% (I believe). I hate this map just as much as Aabicus loves orange chicken, which is a real shame, since I want to like 2fort and Aabicus really fucking loves chicken. I spent… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate 3 – A Place for Love

You know what I really, really, really hate? More than the billion shitty variations of maps like trade_minecraft and achievement_idle? When some part of my computer, this time my external hard drive, decides that it’s going to kill itself in some way and totally screw up an event I planned. But I’m not letting the potential death of my hard drive get me down, or get in the way of an event. Yep, here we are, on the third… Season? Series? Episode? Whatever… The third Week of Love and Hate. And while there aren’t that many entries, I can see… [Continue Reading]

Coming Soon – A Week of Love and Hate 3 – Even More SPUF

It’s that time of year again. After the supposedly love-filled month of February comes the dreary month of March, which can’t be asked to snap out of winter and become the prettiness of Spring. Spring is April’s thing, March couldn’t give a shit. But March is also the time for A Week of Love and Hate, Number 3. That’s right, the community-writing fun fest is here to annoy you all. For those of you who don’t know, A Week of Love and Hate is about people writing articles about things they absolutely, uh, love and hate. Then a week is… [Continue Reading]

A thing about MMOs

I’ve been trying to like Elder Scrolls Online. Like a lot of things, I always end up not liking something for some reason and I can’t explain why. I’ll sit there for ages, playing a game and not knowing what makes me hate it. But with Elder Scrolls Online, I think I have finally put my finger on it. It’s because it’s an MMO. My first introduction to an MMO was a brief stint in Runescape. This was back in 2007-08, so it may have been a pretty good game, or it might have been shit, I don’t really remember.… [Continue Reading]
