An Alpha Version of Burning Skies

Burning Skies is my second favourite mod in Skyrim, after the amazing mod that is Open Cities. It’s both a big, clunky mod and a small mod – not many people seem to use it despite its huge number of endorsements and downloads, and very few people seem to use it full time the way I do. At some point, I’ll do the dragon-based playthrough I promised I’d do after the Medic in Skyrim and Dawnguard Sniping series. But Burning Skies is a complicated mod, full of problems and bugs. It also has been a very slow process just to… [Continue Reading]

You Can Finally Be Nude in Star Trek Online Again

Warning! Censored images of naked people in this article. Turn back if you’re at work! The nude mod for Star Trek Online can trace its roots all the way back to 2012, when it was originally made by a GVZ user who went by the names meehee and thefunkyone, before his mods went offline due to the home forum shutting down. Lucky for us, somebody shared the file with budding modder Password42, who updated it for the (then) current game. He maintained it until February 2016, when changes to Star Trek Online’s underlying programming made it inherently unstable. Then it went offline,… [Continue Reading]

Sven Coop – A 2017 Review

Yesterday I realized that I’m never playing the original Half-Life again. It’s one of my favorite single-player games of all time, and I have hundreds of hours in in from various playthroughs. It was the first game I ever tried to mod (to varying degrees of success, though none of my attempts were ever released to the internet) and its artstyle and gameplay will forever hold a special place in my heart. But I just installed Sven Coop and discovered that it contains the original Half-Life playable in multiplayer! Completely for free, you can go enjoy Half-Life 1 right now! Apparently Sven… [Continue Reading]

Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop – Guess who’s back

I was lazily browsing through the Free To Play section on the Steam catalogues (yes I know I’m a cheapskate) when I found this: After double-checking to make sure that it isn’t the old Alien Swarm, I did some extra digging. Turns out, this actually started off as a ModDB entry. The team behind it submitted it onto Greenlight and it passed. And since it’s on Steam for some time I assume they have Valve’s blessing. Either way, the reviews seem positive, unlike the remakes and extension attempts for one of my favourite games. So I downloaded it and jumped… [Continue Reading]

I’ve finally made a functional Dragon Follower mod

I’ve finally done it. I’ve made a Dragon Follower mod. Sort of. Kinda. Maybe. Alright, it doesn’t crash my game or eat my save or in any way break anything else in the game. It does kinda screw with the first fight with Alduin, but only because of where I placed my follower dragon. But it works. Hours of tweaking shitty AI packages and trying to figure out Papyrus error messages, and I’ve got five dragons that follow you if you wear their necklaces. And there’s the added bonus that they’re way better than 90% of all dragon follower mods… [Continue Reading]

Transmissions: Element 120

I almost didn’t pick this game up because someone out there tagged it as “horror”. While I don’t mind horror games, I prefer not to have my time wasted by petty jumpscares with no effort to build up any kind of atmosphere, but this game wasn’t that. I’d say it was creepy, but in the same way ALL Half-Life games are. Unnerving, for sure, but it never tries to exploit the player for a cheap thrill which I appreciate immensely. Instead, it uses the properties of light and dark in interesting ways as well as providing new mechanics not seen… [Continue Reading]

The Floating Nut Sack of Suckiness

The Floating Nutsack of Suckiness is probably one of the most useful things around. It happily floats behind you, sucking loot towards you and minding its own business. Give it a shotgun and it will shoot things. Give it more shields and it’ll buff you when your shield runs out. Give it an ammo case and it will convert dropped ammo you can’t use into dropped ammo you can’t use. Let it die in a fiery explosion and it has a chance of giving you rare items. I’m of course talking about the Carrier. The Carrier is one of a… [Continue Reading]

The Troubles In Making A Dragon Follower Mod

Let’s face it, I’m not very good at making mods. They’re hard. Even though Skyrim has tools to make mods, it’s still hard. Most of the mods I’ve made haven’t worked that well. Electric Breath has a weird bug that makes Fire Breath silent which I never worked out how to fix. The houses I’ve made, one of them doesn’t have proper LODs and another has a weird hole in a mountain but it’s small and fixable. A third, more temple-like structure remains unfinished. My dragon summoning mods all work but the AI packages bug out occasionally. Most of this… [Continue Reading]

5 More of My Favorite Nude Mods on Steam

(Heads up! These images are pixel-censored, but this is still definitely a Not-Safe-For-Work article. Please also assume that all links will be to NSFW sites) My previous article on nude mods is one of our most popular despite a complete absence of advertising on our part. In the seven months since being published, it has consistently charted in our Top Ten Most Viewed every single day and I’d be silly to not do a follow-up. But actually, I’d have trouble writing a sequel because I don’t want to endorse any mods I haven’t personally used, and I stuck most of my favorites… [Continue Reading]

The single best tip ever for modders

So right now, I am working on a mod for Skyrim, for my own personal use mainly. I spend a lot of time in Skyrim as a dragon, and sometimes I get lonely. Or, more precisely, I get bored and want to destroy Markarth again, but find that my rather cumbersome dragon can’t get into all those little crevices the same way that AI dragons can. But of course, just summoning Odahviing isn’t enough. Summoning Durvehviir, as awesome as he is, doesn’t last long enough, and his summon minion spells honestly just get in the way. On top of that,… [Continue Reading]
