I Feel Like I’m Playing This Game Wrong

While I’m writing this article, I have my Nintendo Switch next to me, leveling up my team in Pokemon Shield. I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield for a bit now (you can tell from all the articles surrounding this one) and I’ve spent a lot of time leveling Pokemon to great heights, ready for fights against the gym leaders across the Galar region. But something about how I’ve been playing Pokemon Shield just feels… off. I basically feel like I’m doing this all wrong. A dedicated team for each gym But as I put together teams for fighting gyms, I find… [Continue Reading]

The Nicest Community Day Ever

When it comes to Community Days, lately, most of them have been meh at best. However, in a bid to make lots of money and get people outside, June’s Community Day was Deino, the dark and dragon type Pokemon. A pseudo-legendary Pokemon with a lot of bite and a great special move. Turns out, if you have an interesting Pokemon for community day, then people turn up. Actually felt like a Community Day A good Pokemon and people out to catch it. Deino’s day ticked a lot of boxes. We got a cool, rare shiny on a cool, rare Pokemon,… [Continue Reading]

Does Anyone Actually Like Needing 400 Candy To Evolve A Pokemon?

There are a few Pokemon in the Pokemon universe that start off as small and weak, then evolve into something amazing. Magikarp is probably the most famous for this*. It’s a weak fish that only knows Tackle and Splash, and if you have the patience, you can evolve it into a massive sea not-a-dragon. Normally, in the main Pokemon games, you need to level the Pokemon despite it having awful moves. But the grind is worth it because you get a cool new badass Pokemon. In Pokemon GO however, you can evolve these Pokemon without having them in battle. It… [Continue Reading]

So Many 3* Pokemon

This Pokemon season is called the Season of GO. Yes, it’s a stupid name, but June – August are generally when Pokemon GO has its biggest events. But a new season also brings with it some new Pokemon, and a slight change in one’s local spawns. The changes aren’t amazing, however it does mean I get to see Rhyhorn again. Rhyhorn is one of my favourites, and it’s good to see it back. What does Rhyhorn have to do with anything? Because its final evolution, Rhyperior, is an insanely useful Pokemon. It does well in both raids and the GBL… [Continue Reading]

On Skipping GOFest

GOFest is Pokemon GO’s biggest event of the year. It’s full of activities and new things. And for the last two years, GOFest has been available to everyone. Well, not completely. It’s a ticketed event, and buying a pass for GOFest unlocks new features. In 2021, I bought a ticket and had a great time. This year though, I just can’t be bothered. Why? Because there is too much to do. Frankly, I am a tad tired of these events. Sure, GOFest is the biggest event of the year, but it’s also an event you need to really focus on.… [Continue Reading]

5 More Best Pokemon To Beat Team Rocket Grunts

Pokemon GO’s Team Rocket are still around and they are stronger than ever. The last time I saw them, I beat the crap out of them, and was rewarded with the worst Apex Lugia and Apex Ho-Oh possible. We’ve actually gone over good Pokemon for Grunt battles before, but there are always options, especially as Team Rocket change up their loadouts semi-regularly. Today, we’re going to go through 5 more Pokemon that do great against Team Rocket. Heatran Most people don’t like Heatran, and for good reason. It’s kinda ugly, badly shaped and appears in 5* raids way, way too… [Continue Reading]

Why 6-Hour Community Days are Better in Almost Every Way

For reasons unknown, Niantic is trying to make everything in Pokemon GO back to pre-covid conditions. While smaller things like green research tasks and a daily Pokemon are cute and helpful, they’ve been taking away plenty of stuff. Players rallied together to keep the 80m diameter on interactions with Gyms and Pokestops, and Incense has been nuked from orbit. And now Niantic has focused on a new feature that they want to ruin: Community Days. Originally Community Days were okay Before all the Covid stuff, Community Days were mostly the same. Three hours, catching anything that isn’t nailed down, and… [Continue Reading]

A Community Day I Completely Forgot About

Did you know that there was a Community Day the other week? On Saturday 21st of May? No? Neither did I. Now, granted, I was pretty occupied with real-life things. But my brother also plays Community Days too, and he forgot about this one as well. For two long-time players of Pokemon GO, this seems a little odd. How did we forget about a Community Day? Sorry, Geodude. The forgotten Community Day in question featured a pretty common Pokemon. Because this month was the Season of Alola, we were destined to get a Pokemon from the Alolan region. After all,… [Continue Reading]

Making More Use of Our Mega Pokemon

When Mega Pokemon first appeared in Pokemon GO, no one was particularly happy. Mega Pokemon were expensive to obtain and required doing raid battles for Pokemon most people already had. All for a handful of candy and 4 hours of one Mega Pokemon. Over time though, Mega Pokemon have slowly gotten better and better. The costs for evolving a Mega dropped, we got 8 hours of Mega time instead of 4, and new ways of getting Mega Candy were added, so you didn’t need to do constant raids. However, with the release of Mega Latias and Mega Latios, we’ve received… [Continue Reading]

How Community Days SHOULD Work in Pokemon GO

April’s Community Day was also a debut for a brand new Pokemon. However, it was also a day of change, with many of the Community Day features we got slowly being eroded away. But Communities can be so much better. Here are some features that would make a Community Day more awesome. Bring back the buddies giving Pokeballs For some of the earlier Community Days done during the start of the pandemic, we actually got quite a nice feature. Throughout the day, our buddy Pokemon would give us gifts which contained Pokeballs. Not a small number of them either. When… [Continue Reading]
