The “A Paldean Adventure” Research is Rather Tedious

With the start of a new season, we’ve been given a new special research, A Paldean Adventure. While it is a special research, it’s also a lot of work, with not much of interest when it comes to rewards. So far, it’s only rewarded a Paldea starter based on what path you take, and a LeChonk, which has been spawning all over the place in the two Paldean events. As of writing, I don’t know what stage 5 is, but it’s quite possible that it might be nothing. Or it could be catch 800 Pokemon. And it might just reward… [Continue Reading]

All Legendary Raids Should Be Like How They Were In GO Fest

Legendary Pokemon are a horrible pain to catch. You have just kicked a Legendary Pokemon’s arse and now you have to catch the bastard. A Pokemon which will flail and jump around like crazy, constantly jumping out of Pokeballs. And you can’t even use nanab berries to calm the Pokemon down. If you’re lucky, you can use razz berries, but 99% of the time, you’ll have to use the golden variant, or use silver pinaps. This has been the way since, well, Legendaries first appeared in raids. They have always been a pain in the butt to catch. After every… [Continue Reading]

Oddish Research Day

Oddish isn’t one of my favourite Pokemon. It’s a weird ball on legs with leaves coming out of its head. Pretty standard for a grass type Pokemon. And for some reason, it got a special research day. Not sure why, but this is Niantic and a Kanto Pokemon we’re talking about. But yeah, it was a pretty standard research day. Research Days are generally a bit annoying. Unlike Community Days and Egg-hatching days, Research Days are very limited and are completely restricted to where you are. If you only have 1-2 pokestops nearby, you get two attempts at a shiny… [Continue Reading]

This Master Ball Research is Hard

In Pokemon GO, for the new season, there is a timed research that lasts for 80 days. If you complete this timed research, then you will be rewarded with a Master Ball. But Niantic will make you work hard for it. So how hard IS this research? I’d say it’s pretty damn hard. There’s a lot you need to do for this research. The first task is to catch 1000 Pokemon. Which does sound pretty difficult, but with the Paldea x4 stardust event, I’m nearly half way there. Because I want that stardust. There’s going to be multiple community days… [Continue Reading]

A Lack of Galar

At the time of writing, we are having a Pokemon GO event based in Paldea, the region you visit in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This event is part of the Ultra Unlocks, which were, well, unlocked during GO Fest. Ultra Unlock events tend to bring out new Pokemon and large bonuses. During this Ultra Unlock for example, we had a x4 stardust and x4 catch experience bonus, which was pretty damn awesome. However, I feel like we’re missing something. We’ve missed out the whole Galar region. To me, this is a bit of a shame. I really enjoyed playing in… [Continue Reading]

On Luck and Catching

Just now, I saw a wild Hariyama. It was just sitting there, minding its own business, being a Pokemon and chilling out. Because I have a Hariyama I want to power up, I decided I was going to catch this wild Hariyama. Now, Hariyama is a big Pokemon. It’s big and wide. That means that it’s easy to get Excellent Throws on it. This Hariyama though refused to catch. I threw multiple Excellent Throws at this Hariyama, but it did not want to catch. It wasn’t even a particularly high CP either, so this was quite frustration. Until, that was,… [Continue Reading]

Galarian Birds and Master Balls

One of my favourite things in Pokemon GO is free things. In this case, I am talking about the Daily Incense. Upon using the Daily Incense, for 15 minutes, you get one spawn a minute, assuming you are moving. The spawns are generally similar to whatever Pokemon are currently spawning, so if there’s an event, you get event spawns, if there’s no event, it’s just normal stuff. However, there are three incredibly rare prizes to be won. When your Daily Incense is on, there is a chance for one of the three Galarian Birds to spawn. The Galarian Birds are… [Continue Reading]

Charmander Classic Community Day

Classic Community Days always bring back a Pokemon from the past who previously had a Community Day. In the case of Charmander, it actually already had two community days. The first one gave its evolution Charizard Blast Burn, the standard starter Pokemon fire charge move. The second gave Charizard the fast move Dragon Breath. Both are good moves in their own ways. Charmander’s Classic Community Day was the chance to get both moves at once. Are these moves any good though? Blast Burn certainly is. Charizard is pretty good in raids. Not the best (especially with the likes of Reshiram,… [Continue Reading]

GO Fest 2023 – Day 2

Day Two of GO Fest is always a bit more relaxed compared to day one. Mostly. While day one mostly focused on Diancie and collection challenges, day two focused on a lot more raids and featured Mega Rayquaza. Now, Mega Rayquaza is a pretty big thing. It’s so powerful that, in competitive Pokemon battling in the main games, Mega Rayquaza has to be banned. It’s hugely powerful and can completely nullify its weaknesses. In Pokemon GO, it’s not as powerful, but it still does an absolute ton of damage, to the point that it’s one of the most powerful Pokemon… [Continue Reading]

Day One of GO Fest was Fun

I bought a ticket for GO Fest. I’d enjoyed the previous GO Fest events in previous years, so I thought I’d enjoy this one. GO Fest 2023 was a mostly simple but fun event. Was it worth a ticket though? Let’s find out. Just like previous GO Fests, day one of GO Fest 2023 was split into four biomes, which rotated throughout the day. The biomes in GO Fest 2023 were based on minerals, and the main theme was crystals and gems. The Pokemon behind GO Fest was the mythical Pokemon Diancie, a rock/fairy Pokemon that, well, makes crystals and… [Continue Reading]
