Amazing

I am sitting here, in front of my screen, trying to decide what I want to write about. There are many, many choices. Many of which will probably be about video games. After all, this IS a video game blog. However, today, I don’t fancy doing that. Instead, I am just reflecting on the other week and all the things that happened. Things were somewhat hectic, other things were simply bad. But at the end of the day, I am still here. That week though was a rather specifically bad week. Bad things kept on cropping up. I spent chunks… [Continue Reading]

A Long List of Little Things I Want In: Elder Scrolls 6

It’s been ages since I last played Skyrim. But the fact that Skyrim is being revamped into a new addition yet again is weird. How many different versions of Skyrim do we need? Clearly more of them. In the mean time though, when it comes to the next Elder Scrolls game, we’re still pretty clueless. We know the game will be set in Hammerfell, but that’s pretty much it. In the mean time though, there are lots of things I would like to see in the Elder Scrolls VI. Here is a small sample of them. Better Followers. Followers in… [Continue Reading]

A Product Safety Stream

I don’t normally talk about my real world jobs on here. Mostly because a lot of it has to stay secret. I’ve done a huge amount of freelance graphic and web design over the years. It ranges from helping freshly founded new businesses, updating old businesses and an all-round business to business But occasionally, I’ll get a really strange request. One that doesn’t normally fit with what I normally do. This event was a Product Safety Award ceremony, hosted by the European commission. Rewards were being handed out based on two specific categories: “Protecting the safety of vulnerable consumer groups”… [Continue Reading]

3-Star Raids still kinda suck

A while back, 2-Star and 4-Star raids were removed from Pokemon GO. The remaining raid bosses were split between 1-Star and 3-Star raids, with Legendary Raids left as they are. The idea was pretty simple, Niantic wanted more people to do raids. With so much variation and choice in raids, it became a little too much for the average raider to do, well, any of them. A smaller pool of raid bosses would bring players together and do more raids. On top of all that, having so many raids meant heavily splitting the player base. 4-Star raids required a team… [Continue Reading]

IT IS BIG AND IT IS CLEVER!

Editor’s note: The article you are about to read was originally written in 2008 by my mum, an all-round amazing woman. Today is the day she left us, so, instead of writing something myself, I am publishing this article in her memory. Mum was simply the best, kindest person ever, always pleased to see you. She also loved swearing and creating new insults. It’s an honour to be able to share some more of her work with you. I hope you all enjoy this sliver of my mum’s brilliance and insanity. Rated R, of course. IT IS BIG AND IT… [Continue Reading]

How to write this rubbish and get away with it

Editor’s note: The article you are about to read was originally written in 2008 by my mum, an all-round amazing woman. Today would have been her birthday, so, instead of writing something myself, I am publishing this article in her memory. Mum was simply the best person ever, who inspired me to start writing myself. It’s an honour to be able to share some of her work with you. I hope you all enjoy this sliver of my mum’s brilliance and insanity. How to write this rubbish and get away with it Who would have thought that a single comment… [Continue Reading]

On Getting Back Into Drawing

A long time ago, I used to draw. In fact, drawing was probably my biggest hobby, especially back in school. It’s something you can do pretty damn easily, since all you need is paper and a drawing implement. However, when I started doing my 500 words a day, my desire to draw faded away. Later depression made me give up on drawing completely, and what little art I did was mostly unseen. These days though, I am slowly getting back into drawing. While I don’t draw nearly as much as I write, it has been quite a change. Pleasant, almost.… [Continue Reading]

Every Game Needs Waypoints

Fun fact: If you aim at something and press the Waypoint button (G by default), it creates a small icon that everyone can see on their HUDs. This is very useful for marking objects like rare caches, Argon Crystals and Ayatan sculptures. But you can also use it to mark the way for other players, and you can use it to highlight dangerous enemies. It’s a small, useful feature that can help avoid confusion or point to rare loot, and is genuinely useful for newbies. My question here is, why don’t most games have this? Well, to be fair, a… [Continue Reading]

Still Thinking I Am A Noob

My current rank right now in Warframe is Legendary 1. With the Sisters of Parvos update, there was enough new mastery to go past True Master. In fact, there is so much new mastery that it adds a chunk towards Legendary 2. No matter how I look at things, I have spent way, way too much time playing Warframe. I may not be a founder, but I have been part of the space ninja roller coaster for a while. Deimos, Fortuna, the Plains of Eidolon, I experienced all of that. Yet something has been bothering me lately. Well, something aside… [Continue Reading]

On Painting My Nails

A long time ago, I had an obsession with nail polish. I would happily blow (some) of my pocket money on new colours. In fact, I went for the cheapest and brightest colours available, and kept them all in a hideous red bag. With my massive stockpile of varnishes, I would paint my nails semi-regularly, always trying to do something creative. Heck, I wanted to paint other nails too. And, for some reason, I painted a small Warhammer figurine with nail polish. Simply put, as a crazy teenager, I liked nail polish a little too much. But, for reasons unknown,… [Continue Reading]
