On Trying to be Green

Trying to be green and eco-friendly is hard for a normal person. The majority of us are just trying to survive our day to day lives, to pay our rent or mortgage and put food on the table. Some of us have families to look after, others are still unable to settle down, or don’t feel capable of or willing to starting a family. At the same time, we’re being told that we need to protect the environment and save our planet, even as we slip further and further towards destruction. Things are depressing. But we are told that we… [Continue Reading]

November Blues

I don’t like November. It’s not a fun month. Personally, it’s not the worst month of the year (that award goes to the awful hell that is September), but I’d definitely rate November as one of the worst months of the year. It’s just… so bleh as a month. A lot of it is the weather. Although, thanks to man-made climate change, November is a less awkward month when it comes to weather, it just doesn’t compare to previous months. October is the start of autumn and is when things start cooling down, but there’s still some warmth to the… [Continue Reading]

Rambles on a kids show that Youtube won’t stop recommending to me

I missed most cool cartoons. I never watched things like Adventure Time or Avatar: The Last Air Bender. Most of the reason behind this is that I don’t have Netflix or any other streaming service, aside from Spotify. There was no (decent) terrestrial TV either for most of my teenage and young adult years, so I couldn’t watch it on Cartoon Network or anything either. It all went past me, and I never really got around to looking them up later on as an adult. So I never really got a chance to enjoy or, well, dislike, any of these… [Continue Reading]

On Luck and Catching

Just now, I saw a wild Hariyama. It was just sitting there, minding its own business, being a Pokemon and chilling out. Because I have a Hariyama I want to power up, I decided I was going to catch this wild Hariyama. Now, Hariyama is a big Pokemon. It’s big and wide. That means that it’s easy to get Excellent Throws on it. This Hariyama though refused to catch. I threw multiple Excellent Throws at this Hariyama, but it did not want to catch. It wasn’t even a particularly high CP either, so this was quite frustration. Until, that was,… [Continue Reading]

Deaths of the Universe

The Universe isn’t really that old. It’s about 13-14 billion years old. Sounds like a big number, but in the world of mathematics, it’s tiny. It’s relatively young, when you think about it. But what will the universe do when it does get old? How can a universe die? While this is a rather morbid question, I find myself thinking about it a lot. The death of the universe is so far away that we don’t need to stress about it. It’s something for far future humans to worry about. Assuming we get that far. Anyway, despite being so far… [Continue Reading]

On Redrawing Artwork

A lot of my work consists of one thing: turning a JPG or a PNG into some sort of vector graphic, so it can be printed or made. Sometimes I also have to turn a PDF into a vector image because the PDF contains a JPG rather than any vector artwork. The process of converting something into a vector graphic can be quite long and arduous, but with my 10 years of experience, I can redraw stuff pretty quickly. Draw by Colour Normally, I start redrawing a logo by separating the basic image into solid colours. That way you can… [Continue Reading]

On Wearing A Smart Watch

Not too long ago, I was given a simple smart watch. It’s an older Samsung Galaxy Fit2, and I’ve been wearing it consistently. I’m actually not normally someone who wears a watch, but I’ve decided to be open-minded and give it a go. Just to see what it’s like. So how is this smart watch? It’s handy Haha a pun. But yeah, I’ve actually found this thing quite handy. Mostly because it vibrates just before my phone rings, giving me an extra second to react. It also vibrates when my alarms go off, which do an okay job of waking… [Continue Reading]

Little Tiny Things You May Not Have Noticed in Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO has tiny little tidbits that you may not notice. Not so much easter eggs, more little details that are easily missed. Here are some of these little tidbits. • Your shadow moves with the time of day. This is actually a somewhat newer feature, but the shadow of your avatar and the shadow of your buddy will move according to the time of day, getting longer in the evenings and shorter closer to noon. • Pokemon you have tapped on turn to face you. If you tap on a Pokemon and don’t catch it, it will turn to… [Continue Reading]

Driving in the Dark

I remember quite vividly the first time I properly drove in the dark. It was during my driving test, there was a hint of rain and all the street lights gave the night a heavy orange tint. I thankfully passed my driving test and I felt very proud of myself, especially because things were quite dark. After a bit of rain, we drove home, and I thought very little about driving in the dark. I had headlights, I could see where I was driving and that was it. Not long afterwards, when I had to go to a mandatory first… [Continue Reading]

One Wrestler Every 90 Seconds

I’ve always been a casual fan of wrestling. I don’t actually follow it, but I’ll watch the odd match on Youtube now and then. But there is one event that I always try to see, and that is the Royal Rumble. It’s a massive event that leads down the road to Wrestlemania, the actual biggest wrestling event of the year. Personally though, out of the big events, I have always preferred the Royal Rumble. It’s not hard to see why. The Royal Rumble has lots of people fighting together in one go. The rules for a royal rumble match are… [Continue Reading]
