The Best Team Rocket Grunt

Team Rocket Grunts come in a bunch of different forms. Generally, they are male or female and have Pokemon based on their type. You can generally guess what Pokemon they’ll have based on the line or pun they spout when you challenge them. When you defeat a grunt, they’ll scurry off and leave one of their Pokemon behind. Grunts seem to change on a regular basis. Well, I say that, the grunts themselves stay the same. No matter what Pokemon they have, they’ll spew the same old puns and one-liners. And they’ll always abandon one of their Pokemon at the… [Continue Reading]

I Really Enjoyed the Team Rocket Celebration Event

As you may recall, I love doing Team Rocket battles. It’s so much fun, beating on a grunt and their weirdly overpowered Pokemon. The fact that we can do these fights regularly has been great for pandemic-based playing. And the slower rotation of Team Rocket Leaders means i more easily got the shiny shadows I wanted. However, it wasn’t always quite enough. Four battles a day is alright, but I long for more. The Team Rocket Celebration event kicked battling up too 100, with almost constant battles available. Balloons every 2 hours! That’s right, we got a Team Rocket fight… [Continue Reading]

A Look at GO FEST Day 2 – ALL THE TEAM ROCKET BATTLES!

Hey, you know how I like Team Rocket battles? You know how much I like them? Well, I like them a lot. So Day 2 of GO Fest was practically made for me. Team GO Rocket has apparently taken over GO Fest and thrown confetti everywhere and it’s up to us to stop them! There were perhaps too many battles. Every single Pokestop had a Grunt on it, which would refresh every few minutes. And GO Fest players would get a Grunt in a balloon every 15 minutes as well. With a new balloon appearing not long after beating a… [Continue Reading]

Purified Pokemon Kinda Suck

With the recent Team Go Rocket event, I think it’s worth discussing purified Pokemon. Team Go Rocket have been capturing Pokemon and forcing them to become more powerful, turning them into shadowy forms of their previous selves. Apparently, this is actually quite painful. It’s so bad that Shadow Pokemon refuse to be traded and refuse to learn anything but Frustration. After all, I’d be pretty frustrated if I’d had my level forcibly raised, forced to fight some random kid and then abandoned. Purification on the other hand is how you save these tortured beings. You sprinkle them with stardust, candy… [Continue Reading]

Team Go Rocket Strikes Back with Hot Air Balloons

Remember a while back that I was lamenting about not being able to fight Team Rocket Grunts? Well, my problem has very suddenly been solved! Team Go Rocket have spent a lot of money investing in hot air balloons so they can attack us in person! Yep, you can now fight Team Go Rocket on the Fly! Kinda. It seems that, about four times a day, a Team Go Rocket balloon will hover across your screen and float around for a bit, allowing you to challenge a grunt to a fight. The Team Rocket balloon, similar to the one used… [Continue Reading]

The Weird Thing I Miss in Pokemon Go – Team Rocket Grunt Battles

It’s funny what I find myself missing. Due to, well, the world collapsing and a lot of people staying indoors, Pokemon Go has been a bit of a weird thing. But even with the world being what it is, I recently moved house. Because of that, I no longer have stupidly easy access to Pokestops. Sure, I managed to get a Pokestop at the end of my road, but the density of Pokestops just isn’t there. And because of this, I can’t do the thing I weirdly enjoy most in Pokemon Go. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because the… [Continue Reading]

Some Parts of Pokemon Go’s PVP are Okay…

To say that I’ve been rather critical of Pokemon Go’s PvP system and the Go Battle League isn’t entirely accurate. Originally, when PvP battles between friends and Team Rocket Grunts came out, I enjoyed it. In fact, fighting Grunts is probably one of my favourite things in Pokemon Go. But there is an awful lot of hit and miss with PvP and battling in general. Today, I think we should discuss some of these hits and misses about battling in general, ignoring the Go Battle League and its myriad of problems. Pro: For a mobile battle system, it’s deceptively deep.… [Continue Reading]

Team GO Rocket Attacks Nearly Every Pokestop – the 2pm – 5pm Team GO Rocket Event

On March 7th 2020, from 2pm until 5pm, Team GO Rocket struck again! They attacked every single Pokestop they could find! For three glorious hours, Giovanni’s grunts, both male and female, took over every Pokestop around, while also giving up bonus stardust. There were also a handful of special Team GO Rocket research tasks. And frankly? It was bloody brilliant! In fact, this mini-event was so good that I managed to get my Shadow Entei in under 2 hours. That’s genuinely insane. I actually started today with just a single Rocket Radar, hoping to defeat one of the Team GO… [Continue Reading]

The 5 best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO

We’ve discussed good gym defenders, good gym attackers, good legacy moves, and good Community Day Pokemon in Pokemon GO. (And Metagross appeared on every list!) But nowadays, there’s a whole new element to the PvE experience: fighting Rockets! Yes, those dastardly Rockets are everywhere nowadays, taking over our Pokestops and challenging well-to-do trainers at the drop of a hat. Team Rocket Leaders up the ante, bringing a full set of shields and some seriously dangerous Pokemon with them, and things boil to a head with Giovanni and his shadow legendary birds. The combat system for fighting rockets is so different… [Continue Reading]

Fighting Team Rocket Leaders and Giovanni

After being ill for the last week or so, I finally managed to get my fat ass into gear and finish the Looming in the Shadows quest, which actually took longer than I expected, mostly because of a complete lack of Team Rocket Pokestops. After all, how am I supposed to fight the Team Rocket Leaders if I can’t actually find them? Yeah, this quest has been a bit bumpy for me. You need to do 6 normal Team Rocket Pokestops, defeating the Grunts that are there, so you can get 6 Mysterious Components and combine them into a Team… [Continue Reading]
