Youtube’s New UI is Annoying as fuck

I know I literally wrote an article the other day on a similar premise, but holy fuck Youtube what are you doing? Sure, Youtube had had some pretty bad UI changes in the past, but what the hell am I looking at? What is going on? Look at this mess. The comments are all squished to one side, the title is squished to one side and the recommendations both have hideous rounded corners (way, way too rounded, considering that the main video has square corners) and the thumbnails are fucking massive. The layout looks like Twitch but worse. All the… [Continue Reading]

Atlas Fallout Foundation – Terrifying Emergency Alert Systems

I’m not really a fan of Youtube horror, but there’s something about emergency alert systems that really go beyond the normal scary things out there. While I have watched things like Mandela Catalogue, Gemini Home Entertainment and Local 58, none of those have really stuck with me. I’ve never actually seen an emergency alert in real life, but I’ve seen videos of real ones and they are genuinely terrifying. The nuclear strike hoax in Hawaii was the biggest and best example of emergency alert systems, and that was scary even for people not in Hawaii. Atlas Fallout Foundation is a… [Continue Reading]

Things I Watch When I’m Sad

Life is full of ups and downs, and when you’re on a down, you need something to bring you up. For me, that often involves watching videos on Youtube and other video services. Here are the sort of things I watch when I’m feeling sad. I’ve mentioned most of this stuff before, but I feel like these things are worth repeating, because the world these days is so depressing. Dog grooming videos I don’t know why I watch pet grooming videos in particular, but they almost always have happy endings. Even videos with massively matted dogs end up with a… [Continue Reading]

Rambles on a kids show that Youtube won’t stop recommending to me

I missed most cool cartoons. I never watched things like Adventure Time or Avatar: The Last Air Bender. Most of the reason behind this is that I don’t have Netflix or any other streaming service, aside from Spotify. There was no (decent) terrestrial TV either for most of my teenage and young adult years, so I couldn’t watch it on Cartoon Network or anything either. It all went past me, and I never really got around to looking them up later on as an adult. So I never really got a chance to enjoy or, well, dislike, any of these… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Cooking Channels

I like to cook. Most of the time, I cook twice a day, for lunch and for dinner. In the mean time, I happen to watch a lot of cooking channels as well. While I don’t always follow the recipes these channels post, I do use them for inspiration when I don’t know what to cook. That being said, I find myself always missing an ingredient or two. Anyway, here are some cooking channels I recommend. Barry Lewis Barry Lewis is a cook who does all sorts of weird stuff. Originally named My Virgin Kitchen, Barry tries all kinds of… [Continue Reading]

Just Some More Cool Small Youtube Channels that I’d Like to Recommend

A while back, due to writers’ block, I recommended a bunch of Youtube channels. The idea was to showcase smaller channels because, frankly, my recommendation feed from Youtube is too busy. Youtube always wants to recommend channels with huge numbers of viewers. Sometimes though, a smaller channel will slip through. And sometimes these channels catch my eye. Learning Curve The first channel I’d like to recommend is Learning Curve. On this channel, we are treated to various interesting science topics, such as Brown Dwarf stars, the biology of bees and strange paradoxes. Oddly enough, this channel is quite new to… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Cooking Channels

Cooking is one of my favourite hobbies. I love baking cakes, making dough and attempting to flip pancakes. However, my inspiration doesn’t come from nothing. My inspirations are fed by various Youtube channels, all of which do cooking and baking in a different way. Nino’s Home A lot of people love Nino’s Home because they think Nino is cute and want to read the subtitles, that tend to roast the viewer. Nino is very much aware that his videos bring in a lot of fangirling and he does a lot to cater to them. I… I’m not a fan of… [Continue Reading]

The Platform (2021)

So I just watched a Spanish psychological horror film called The Platform on Netflix. It was an unveiled critique about capitalism and the terrible acts our society spurs people to do on every level of it. Highly recommend, it was a great watch that left me and my friends discussing it for a long time afterwards. (If you don’t want to be spoiled, you should go watch the movie before reading any further.) But this article isn’t actually about that, it’s about this: In this video, the YouTuber gives six “solutions” to being imprisoned in the Hole that are absolutely… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Radiohead Tracks

All of a sudden, pretty much every Radiohead song ever released has ended up on Youtube. This includes not just their main albums but even the music track they did for the James Bond movie Spectre and a lot of their side-albums and unreleased stuff. Why? I have no idea. But I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth because I’m too busy listening to Radiohead. Seriously, pretty much every song is here, and you can access all of them on Youtube via their albums here. How did I get into Radiohead? I’m not really sure, it’s… [Continue Reading]

Horrible, Horrible Youtube Recommendations

I think, after writing for this blog for like five years or something, you can somewhat get an idea of what things I like. At the very least, you can guess that I like video games, most notably things like Team Fortress 2, Warframe, Skyrim and Minecraft. I also like things like Risk of Rain, Borderlands and the Binding of Isaac. These games are all pretty large, popular games that have avid communities and thus create a huge amount of video content, a lot of which ends up on Youtube. But I’m willing to look into other games as well,… [Continue Reading]
