Shoot whoever’s wearing a different coloured shirt!

Team-based games, be it the UEFA Champions League or FootLOL: Epic Fail League, do the sensible thing of having the teams wear team jerseys of different colours. After all, as a spectator sport, it makes sense to do this since the audience can now easily tell who’s on what team. For the players, it allows them to immediately tell whether to pass the ball to the person in front of him or to try and knock his teeth out with the ball. And this concept, of course, goes into video games. For example, in TF2, the teams wear team-coloured clothing. Just… [Continue Reading]

I Love de_dolls

Sometimes I wish we saw more bonkers maps like this as official maps in games, just to see what the devs would conjure with no restraints on conventional map making, at least in terms of aesthetics. I love the silly nature and tone of this map, but I also genuinely enjoy it as an actual map to fight in. The scale (and what’s done with it) makes for some incredibly unique fights. You can snipe across the floor, run’n’gun on the inside of the bed, climb and brawl inside the drawers, hide behind the thin plaster walls, fly up the vents, it’s… [Continue Reading]

Deleted Scenes

What a strange beast Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes is… A single player game shaped from the success of an exclusively multiplayer phenomenon, trying to walk in the original Call of Duty’s footsteps. Bungled from Valve, to Ritual Entertainment, to Gearbox and finally a mix of the three resulted in Counter-Strike’s single player debut. The world unanimously came together, and after much thought, finally came to an unprecedented agreement amongst both gamers and critics, that it was completely and utterly~! Mediocre… As well as being automatically outdated by other titles upon release as it was finally kicked out the door… [Continue Reading]

aabicus tries to CS:GO, part 4

Big milestones today! Most of what I describe in this article I recorded on video, but after recording, when I try to open said video I get this: So RIP a little bit of aabicus’ CS:GO history. Because this included a few big milestones; my rank up to Silver 3, my very first competitive match, my purchasing of the Wildfire coin, my first game of Deathmatch, and my first time on a bunch of the new maps. Part of me is a little glad my last Silver 2 matches weren’t saved, because they were downright abysmal. I basically did nothing… [Continue Reading]

aabicus tries to CS:GO part III

The more Counter-Strike:Global Offensive I play, the more interested I get in its version of asymmetrical multiplayer. Despite being a competitively-ranked player vs. player military shooter, it does not follow the common trope of giving both teams similar arsenals. Instead, the terrorist and counter-terrorist ordnance are differ from each other in several very distinct ways, encapsulated best by the two signature rifles of each team. Like other games, CSGO chose to differentiate these two guns primarily through emphasizing either damage or accuracy. The AK47 hits much harder than the M4A1-S but at the cost being far less accurate, a distinction that… [Continue Reading]

aabicus tries to CS:GO Part 2

(Technically there’s a chance Sham1 himself is going to make a Part II to this article, but it’s been 10 months since he wrote it so I’m going ahead and assuming the slot’s open.) D4mo bought me Counter-Strike:Global Offensive for Christmas! I’m super excited, not only because it’s the largest hole in my Valve collection and I’ve always wanted to try it, but also because I’m currently visiting my parents for Christmas and the only computers they own are Apple. Since Apple TF2 is currently experiencing a bug causing a crash to desktop within seconds of joining a server, I’ve had… [Continue Reading]

The Gun Mettel Update – Pre Update thoughts

So, um, er… Well… Um… I don’t know what to say. Well, let’s start off with the good stuff. Loch-n-Load and Baby Face’s Blaster are getting nerfed. Holy fuck that is a vast amount of changes. Spy essentially got a rework and Engineer got a lot of changes when it comes to wrenches and jag-whacking. It all seems incredibly ambitious. Huge stuff everywhere. The balance changes seem rather overwhelming. Lots of good and bad there. And there IS bad there. The Vaccinator is now a Uber-and-Leave-Them thing, It’s good that you can’t fuck with Snipers any more. That’ll need testing… [Continue Reading]
