The New QOTSA Album – Villains

When it comes to reviewing things, I’m always late to the punch. But with a lot of things, you need some time to listen and let things settle down a bit. Maybe you just need to absorb what you just watched. Maybe you need to watch, read or listen again. That’s definitely the case with the new Queens of the Stone Age album, Villains. The first song I heard was their two singles, The Way You Used To Do and The Evil Has Landed. I didn’t really listen to them too much in detail because I wanted to hear the… [Continue Reading]

Destiny 2 Open Beta – A Lot of Hassle For Something Somewhat Generic

So I spent twelve hours slowly downloading Destiny 2. It’s brilliant, everyone told me. It’s like a cross between Warframe and Borderlands, multiple people said to me. You HAVE to try the Open Beta! But as I downloaded the game, a lot of worries went through my head. Wasn’t Destiny 1 supposed to be a long-running game? Didn’t it need a bunch of DLCs to be playable? What if Destiny 2 is exactly the same? I haven’t actually played Destiny 1, but that’s what reviews told me. Finally, I got the game installed. Except it wouldn’t work. I spent 30… [Continue Reading]

Epistle 3 – Too Late an Ending, But an Ending Nonetheless

It’s been ten years since Half-Life: Episode 2 came out and left us on a cliffhanger, with Eli’s death and a world of opportunity opening itself out to the Resistance. In ten years, a ton of things have happened, as is often the way with the passing of time. Heck, in the last 4 years, we’ve managed to pump out 1600 articles, and there’s been a billion new Call of Duty games. But the one thing that HASN’T happened was an answer or a sequel to what occurs after Half-Life 2 and its chapters. Then, all out of the blue… [Continue Reading]

5 Of My Favorite Free-to-Play Nude Mods

Warning! Censored images of naked people (and one bunny) in this article. Turn back if you’re at work! Also assume that any links are to NSFW sites. It’s an article about nudity, so we’re warning you now. There ARE naked people here. Turn away if you don’t like that. Do you like nude mods? I like nude mods. But up till now, the only free-to-play game I’ve covered in my articles is the nude mod for Star Trek Online. This time I wanted to write about other games you can play right now without spending any money. Star Wars: The… [Continue Reading]

Double Tag, Part Two

I last talked about Aperture Tag, a Portal 2 mod where the Propulsion and Repulsion Gels gets the limelight they deserved. But thing is, just like how the original Portal and its mechanics were born from a small game called Narbacular Drop, the gel mechanics were from a game called Tag: The Power of Paint. The game features paint that changes the physical properties of surfaces. It has red paint, which is the one that speeds you up. Aside for a cosmetic change from red to orange nothing much has changed during its transition to the Portal series, although while… [Continue Reading]

Double Tag, Part One

There was an arc in Portal 2, where (spoilers!) Wheatley betrayed Chell and chucked her into the bowels of Aperture Science Enrichment Centre along with potato GLaDOS, where we learned of the company’s history, Cave Johnson, Caroline, and hints of GLaDOS’ true nature. But aside for story, there is also something else, an entirely new mechanic for us to play with. The addition of the gels is one of the two new main puzzle elements added to the Portal series, aside from the co-op gameplay. While the Conversion Gel is useful for creating portals and is the MVP for Chell’s… [Continue Reading]

The Wonders of Captura

Warframe is a particularly nice game to look at. It’s bright and shiny, yet even on low settings, it still looks really nice. The game’s actually optimized pretty well too, even when on high settings, because of the way it loads each environment. As the majority of rooms are basically individual tiles, connected with smaller individual tiles, the game unloads each one once you’ve passed through it so it can load the next one. This makes Warframe particularly efficient and allows it to run even when on a toaster of a computer. When you turn everything up to maximum though,… [Continue Reading]

New and Improved Tips for New Warframe Players

Just under a year ago, I wrote this article about Warframe tips for new players. At the time, I was a newbie, being carried around the star chart by much more skilled players. Now though, I’m a much better player and I actually somewhat know what I’m doing. At the very least, I can give a better idea of what you should be doing. After all, older players have helped me. I should pass the baton and help newer players. Help them with some better tips. Early Choices I used to recommend choosing whatever you want as your starter character,… [Continue Reading]

Left 4 Dead: The Birth of a Genre

Left 4 Dead was a great game. It had the perfect mix of arcadey action and strategic gameplay to entice shooter fans of every skill level, while also having amazing writing and atmosphere that really sold the survival horror aesthetic. Sure, it wasn’t the first 4-player coop (Yahtzee even griped in his Left 4 Dead 2 review about how commonplace those sorts of games were), but it carved a niche for itself that is so prevalent nowadays that I’d call an entire subsection of Co-op horde shooters “Left 4 Dead clones”. Left 4 Dead famously came into existence when the… [Continue Reading]

Returning to the Kingdom of Loathing

After watching a video on The West of Loathing, I’m suddenly filled with the desire to play the Kingdom of Loathing again. The humour and deliberately lazy extremely stylized art triggered a strong sense of nostalgia in me, as I remembered the fun moments, hilarious lines, interesting item blurbs, and that one orc camp filled with innuendos. The one thing that I can’t remember, however, is my old login details. So I just said “screw it” and decided to begin anew. I remembered the six choices: two warrior classes, two mage classes and two rogue classes. I was a spell-casty type… [Continue Reading]
