An Updated Ramble about the GO Battle League

One of the more-viewed posts on the Daily SPUF is an article about the GO Battle League. The article was released when the GO Battle League first came out. However, the new battling feature was… pretty broken. There were lots of issues and the experience was all-round pretty bad. But that article is pretty damn old now, and things have changed with the GBL. Mostly positive changes. More leagues and options A lot more Pokemon are viable for each league now. Although not all Community Days have been amazing for the GBL, we do have a lot more options. Niantic… [Continue Reading]

Taskmaster

I’ve had a very busy few weeks, but I recently had some time to myself and decided to spend it badly. Over the weekend, I watched pretty much nothing but Taskmaster. And I laughed a lot. But what even is Taskmaster and why am I laughing so much? Taskmaster is a comedy TV show that airs on Channel 4 in the UK, and was originally aired on the channel Dave. Yes, there’s a UK TV channel called Dave. It mostly shows reruns of Top Gear and similar shows. The Dave channel is also home to some panel shows and stuff… [Continue Reading]

Level 40 Weapons and a Ton of Forma

A long time ago, a weapon called the Paracesis came out. The blueprint for this cool sword was a reward for listening to Ballas while he whined about Natah. However, the Paracesis wasn’t a normal weapon. Not at all. As well as having great stats, the Paracesis had an unusual gimmick. If you stuck up to five extra forma into the Paracesis, it would level up all the way to level 40. This was a somewhat interesting gimmick. It worked nicely on the one, single sword. The Paracesis is specially designed to cut through Sentients, and is a tool and… [Continue Reading]

Parvos’s Sisters and Their Lack of Lore Sense

It’s been a bit since the Sisters of Parvos appeared in Warframe, but something is bothering me about them. While, functionally, they are a lot like Kuva Liches, I feel like something is missing from them. Their lore doesn’t really make much sense. Well, some of it does. But all together, they seem to have a kinda messy and almost contradicting lore. What actually makes a Sister Candidate special? To create a Sister of Parvos, you need to get at least 25 kills in the Granum Void. Once you’ve done that and returned to reality, a Candidate will spawn. Stab… [Continue Reading]

A Feeling of “What now?” in Pokemon GO

So, GO Fest has been and gone. It was two days of fun for me, I had a great time. However, as the event ended on Sunday, I had a weird feeling in the back of my head. That feeling faded over night, but came back in full force on Monday morning. That feeling was simple. “What now?” GO Fest was a little too much fun GO Fest was so fun that I got sun-burnt. On day 1 alone, I walked like 10km back and forth (I hatched 5 2km eggs on day 1), and we probably managed a good… [Continue Reading]

On Luck and Collections – Collection Tasks and Medals

Over the last year or so, a new type of research has popped up. Collections are pretty simple tasks that tend to run over the course of an event. These events feel a bit like the main series games. All you have to do is catch the Pokemon on the list. Once you have all of them, you get a nice little reward. But while collection tasks seem simple and fine on the outside, there are some traps that need to be pointed out. It all depends on what is required. There have been small collections and big collections. One… [Continue Reading]

A Ramble About Indicators

About twenty minutes ago, I got home from shopping, after one of the most stressful drives in a while. I’m sure we’ve all had one of those days. No matter how confident and safe you are on the road, you simply can’t trust other people to be the same. The trip I make from the shop and back home doesn’t take long, it’s about 10 minutes both ways. Sure, I could theoretically walk to a closer, more expensive shop. But it’s like 32C while in the shade, and most of the walk has no shade at all. As much as… [Continue Reading]

The Change from Avionics into Mods for Railjack

With the last Railjack update, something dramatic happened with modding. Originally, Railjacks had their own sets of mods, called Avionics. These worked very similar to normal mods, but were arranged in a special grid. You could upgrade both the grid and the mods themselves, and combining both gave better boosts. But this was all changed in the Railjack Retrofit update. The grid went away completely and all the Avionics were turned into normal mods. We were given a very standard modding screen, almost identical to normal modding screens for Warframes and weapons. The whole Avionics modding system was completely removed.… [Continue Reading]

Warframe Tips for Free-to-Play Space Ninjas

At first glance, Warframe can seem rather pay-to-win. However, if you dig past that even a little, you can easily climb ranks and grab new gear and weapons. All it takes is a bit of time and patience. But, while you wait, here are some tips and advice on how to make the most of an F2P experience. Starter Platinum When you first start playing Warframe, you actually start off with 50 Platinum. This Platinum can’t be traded, but it is enough for a handful of purchases. Before you get too excited though, it’s worth looking at what you can… [Continue Reading]

How I’d Rework Yareli

I’m going to honest here, Yareli isn’t that great a Warframe. She’s too small and cute to be chopping Grineer in half. But Yareli’s biggest problem is that, well, she doesn’t do that much. There’s no niche for Yareli to claw out for herself, and most other frames are more useful. But not all is lost. Digital Extremes are known to buff weaker Warframes. However, WHEN a Warframe gets reworked is often somewhat random. And if it’s not random, it’s close to a release date for a Warframe’s Prime variant. In the mean time though, I’d like to have a… [Continue Reading]
