A Random Ramble About Pizza

Pizza is great. Anyone who says they hate pizza is lying, or either allergic to gluten or lactose or something. Or maybe they just haven’t had a pizza they liked yet. Frankly, it’s a nice, filling meal that’s easy to make and enjoyed by most people. Regardless of age. I could be 80 and still want pizza. It’s just so damn versatile! A pizza for everyone. The most obvious cool thing about pizza is that you can have so many different toppings. Nearly anything works, from a variety of cheeses, to grilled vegetables, to a wide array of meats. There… [Continue Reading]

Microwave Cakes

I’ve been stuck indoors a lot more than normal. And when I’m stuck indoors, I tend to get hungry for no real reason. Now, sure, I could always do some exercise or something. I could do something to make my hunger warranted. But I’m a lazy bastard, so rather than exercising in any way, I find myself walking to the kitchen. And then walking back out because there’s nothing I fancy. Then I walk back in and start baking. Before I start rambling however, here’s a recipe for you: Medic’s Microwave Cake Recipe Ingredients (makes 2-4 mugs’ worth of cake):… [Continue Reading]

The Death of SSLForFree.com

Let’s Encrypt is, to quote its own website, “A nonprofit Certificate Authority providing TLS certificates to 200 million websites.” More importantly, Let’s Encrypt is a way of getting SSL/TLS for your website without paying money. A while back, Firefox and Chrome both started enforcing that websites needed SSL certificates. An SSL certificate, to explain it in very basic terms, encrypts the data that goes back and forth from user to website. But when I started looking for SSL certificates for my websites, I was shocked. Prices are all over the place. Anything from $7ish a year, up to about $60… [Continue Reading]

An Update On That Bionicle Game

Back in April, a guy called Crainy revealed a trailer for a Bionicle game, in which you’d be able to explore the island of Mata Nui and play as one of the six legendary Toa. The trailer created waves and brought together a ton of old Bionicle fans. But it also raised a huge amount of questions, a lot of which have slowly been explained over time. Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui still had a lot of mysteries though. On the 20th of May though, an announcement on the larger side was made by Crainy on the Bionicle: Quest for… [Continue Reading]

A Ramble about the Second Generation of Bionicle

The original Bionicle saga ended in a bit of a mess. While it was all round a happy ending, with evil being defeated and the Matoran and Agori coming together to build a new society, there were a lot of loose ends. From a Toa-killing monster being set free, to the Toa having to work with the Glatorian… All the way to Lewa and company being missing and Kopaka and Pohatu being trapped in the mysterious Red Star… None of the original saga was truly finished. But rather than tie up these loose ends, we ended up getting something else.… [Continue Reading]

Hey, Vsauce, Medic Here

I was chatting with someone the other day and they said they needed to clear out their subscriptions on Youtube. They were subscribed to SO MANY things that they didn’t watch most of them. All sorts of stuff, but mostly just video game stuff, or things related to the TV shows they watched. I shrugged and said I probably needed to do the same. After all, there are channels I don’t watch at all. There are also channels I probably watch too much of. Frankly, I can split my subscribed channels into rather predictable groups. I have quite a few… [Continue Reading]

1920 x 1080

For most of my brief existence, I’ve not had the best monitor. I’ve had a tiny little screen and played all my games in dumb resolutions. But now I have a semi-decent computer (okay, a laptop) that has a much larger resolution. Despite, funnily enough, the laptop not being that much bigger. I can now experience the beauty that is 1920 x 1080. And blimey, it’s kinda hard to get used to. It’s all so… vast… The first thing I noticed was, funnily enough, how I had no images that fit my new massive desktop. I absolutely NEED a good… [Continue Reading]

On Being A Dungeon Master

So, after a long, long time of just being a basic player, I finally got the chance to be a dungeon master and run my own little campaign. I played with my normal group of players and we did a couple of small sessions, all loosely based on the world of Skyrim. And it was a HUGE amount of fun! To the point that I’m a little bit too excited to do it again. It really is like herding cats though. Well, in my case, it was literally herding cats. I’m leading a group of definitely not Khajiit through various… [Continue Reading]

The Medical Necessity lore nobody asked for

Remember Medical Necessity? It was a game development project where I had my first ill-fated experience as a project manager. In the end, we got canceled due to lack of progress during the first quarter of production. The only surviving product is the purchasable sprite sheet on itch.io. The design document and production wiki note that the default names for the player’s allied soldiers are Homer, Berenson, Collins, and Cunningham. And while digging through a lifetime of old boxes preparing for my move to Portland, I found the original action figures those names came from. Their plastic has gone gummy and… [Continue Reading]
