The Brand New Pokemon Go Buddy System

Niantic and Pokemon Go teased a new buddy system recently, and, much to my surprise, it came out before Christmas even though all the teasing was for 2020. So now we have a buddy system that is far, far more than just a Pokemon idly standing by your side getting candy. The candy earnings are still there, but there’s a bunch of new features for your buddy, making them actually feel like some sort of companion that does things, and rewarding the player for doing tasks with their buddy. As well as the candy earned by walking, you can now… [Continue Reading]

Warframe, Over 3000 Hours Later…

In July of 2016, I wrote an article about Warframe as I was just starting to get into it. I titled that article “Warframe – Still Not Sure” because, at the time, I was unsure whether I would continue playing Warframe. Well, over 3000 hours later, I can tell you that the article in question, which is still available to read, has aged incredibly poorly. The most obvious thing is that I’m still playing Warframe. I’m playing a lot of Warframe. In fact, lately, it’s the only game I play on a regular basis aside from Pokemon Go. And it’s… [Continue Reading]

The Sudden Very Obvious Empyrean Meta

It’s only been like a week, and already a meta has evolved in Railjack missions. There’s literally no way around it though, due to the fact that each Empyrean mission is time-consuming and very hectic, even if you have a full crew of MR 27-28 players. With so much going on, you need everyone to do their tasks and do them well. Luckily though, it’s very easy to arrange a group into their respective roles. From what I’ve seen so far, there’s four main roles. One person focuses on flying; one person rushes around repairing things and occasionally shoots things… [Continue Reading]

December Community Weekend

Pokemon Go decided to end community days for 2019 with a bang by repeating somewhat what they did in 2018, by having a community day weekend, bringing back all of the year’s community day Pokemon for one final send off before leaping into 2020, while also bringing back 2018’s Pokemon. So we get two things: a collection of Pokemon from 2019 and a collection of Pokemon from 2018. One of these was done really well. The other, not so much. When it comes to the implementation of the 2019 community day stuff, I couldn’t be happier. We get two days’… [Continue Reading]

Tips for Building A Railjack

The Rising Tides update comes with the quest to build your Railjack, but this quest isn’t easy. Not because of the high level enemies (most of them are level 30ish), the sudden bloom of Sentients (that spawn at random) or the time needed between component builds. No, the hardest thing, for a non-veteran player, is the cost and resources. These resources can be very taxing, even for older players. So here are some tips on how to get your resources more efficiently. Bring a Smeeta Kavat wherever you go Smeeta Kavats have the chance to double your resources. Even if… [Continue Reading]

SPACESHIPS! Retvik’s First Impressions on Empyrean

I missed the initial release. I’ll admit that. It happened at like 5am when I was fast asleep, tucked up in bed and dreaming of, well, not space ninjas. But as soon as I could get to my computer (after a Windows update or two, typically), I went and installed the 2.5GB update and went to see what was going on. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?) this happened at about 3:30pm my time, meaning I’d missed a lot of the initial rush and the rest of my clan jumping in. Sooo, Empyrean. The thing that comes after Rising Tides. The ability… [Continue Reading]

On the UK and their Decisions

The UK election has been a bit of a strange one, what with the winner and current prime minister being a guy who hides in fridges and steals people’s phones rather than answering even remotely hard questions, but the election is over and the vote is in. After 10 years of Conservatives, the people of the United Kingdom want more of the same, and Boris Johnson will remain as prime minister. The Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats did rather badly in the election, losing a lot of seats and giving the Conservatives a majority. Frankly, it looks like the… [Continue Reading]

Jackbox Party Pack 6 – A Pleasant Surprise

Whenever there is a new Jackbox Party Pack available, I can always count on my brother to buy it and bust it out at the next family gathering. I’ve discussed some of the Jackbox Party Packs before, including the standalone games like Drawful, but the 6th edition of the Party Pack is a genuinely great addition to the collection. Actually, I’ll go ahead and say that it’s probably the most rounded of the party packs in general. There are five games in the 6th Party Pack, one of which is a sequel to an old game from a previous party… [Continue Reading]

Persian

If there’s a Pokemon who’s had it more rough than Raichu, the unloved and often ignored evolution of game mascot Pikachu, it’s definitely got to be Persian, the evolution of fan favourite Meowth. I wrote about Raichu somewhat recently, and what with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, things seemed to get even worse for the elder electric mouse Pokemon. Not only is the Alolan version ignored, but Raichu doesn’t even get a Gigantamax version despite the fact Pikachu does. If you get a Pikachu from Let’s Go Pikachu, it won’t ever evolve into a Raichu. Persian’s predicament is… [Continue Reading]

The Mercenary

Sometimes I wonder why I do strange things. Sometimes I wonder why I do things and end up liking those strange things. The Mercenary, a character from Risk of Rain 2, is one of those strange things. You see, I play Risk of Rain mostly blind. While I’ve ‘watched’ a streamer and Youtuber play Risk of Rain 2 (he has a marathon run that lasts FOUR HOURS), I’ve never really watched it, it’s mostly just background noise while I do other things. After all, if I’m reading or writing or drawing, sometimes I want something that will play to itself… [Continue Reading]
