Cards going completely out of bounds, game uninstalled and staying that way

OB64 PTS Update #5 is up. Cards now have ten levels, with the old Level 1 being the new Level 2, old Level 3 being the new level 6, so on and so forth. Players who unlocked cards before OB64 will receive those cards in Level 4. Everyone will get Level 1 (the new Level 1, which is half of the old Level 1) cards for the cards they didn’t have before OB64. For the old OB64 system, the number of duplicates required to level up your cards is as follows: For this new system, the number of duplicates required to… [Continue Reading]

Cards Unbound, Game Uninstalled

Every player likes card customization. Thus, the first thing to go is meaningful card customization. Bravo. Implementing this five-points per card, twenty-five-points per loadout system, aside from causing hilariously broken and unbalanced cards that allows characters to deal around 23k burst damage when the maximum possible effective champion health is 5500 demolishes any meaningful customization. Now, just select the highest-leveled cards you have and you’re set for the next round. And once every card you own (or just those you cared about) is level 5, or you’re playing Ranked where every card is level 3, card customization is now almost as… [Continue Reading]

Buying Online Gifts in 2017

It’s coming up to Christmas, and I’m sure at least some of us are looking to get some gifts for others. Me not to much since I a. am skint and b. have already bought presents for my family, but that probably won’t stop me getting a few gifts for some close buddies. The problem is, the number one source of gifts for gamers seems to have become more and more of a pain in the ass when it comes to giving gifts. You see, in the good old days of a few years ago, you could buy a bunch… [Continue Reading]

‘Chili Con Vegies’ – Vegetarian Chili Meal Thing

You know those chili dishes with mince? Well this is a vegetarian option. It wasn’t really intended to be a vegetarian dish, but I didn’t have any mince on me, so I decided to wing it. And honestly the result was genuinely very nice. Not something I’d have as a meal on its own, but definitely very nice when accompanied with some bread and maybe some cheese grated on top. Ingredients 1 can of Kidney Beans, rinsed 1 can of Chick Peas, rinsed 1 can of sweet corn, rinsed 1 can of green peas, also rinsed About a can’s worth… [Continue Reading]

The Best Starter Weapons in Warframe

There are a handful of starter weapons in Warframe. More than you might think, actually. When you play the opening tutorial, escaping from the clutches of Captain Vor and getting to your ship, you get a basic choice of weaponry, but there are also options in the Market once you’ve completed the tutorial. The first weapons you pick up are a single Primary weapon, Secondary weapon and melee weapon. These are your starter weapons, and you’ll be using them for a while, at the very least until they are level 30. Luckily, melee weapons it doesn’t really matter too much… [Continue Reading]

On Volt’s Sexy Not Sexy New Skin

So Volt finally got to join the ranks of his fellow been-there-from-the-start Warframes in the I-have-an-extra-fancy-skin department. Kinda. Unlike Mag, Ember, Nekros, Trinity, Rhino and all that, Volt didn’t get a nice Deluxe skin. No, Volt became the third member of the Proto Skin family. Except his new skin still doesn’t fit there. The two proto skins for Excalibur and Nyx are basically assets from Digital Extremes’ game Dark Sector, redone and amplified to fit the Warframe theme. Proto Excalibur has a skin based on the protagonist Hayden Tenno, while Nyx appears as Nemesis, which I assume is one of… [Continue Reading]

On Spelling

I like to think my English is pretty good. For someone who only ever did primary school level English, I get along just fine. I make mistakes occasionally. Everyone does. Most of my written mistakes are ones where I’ve written “in” instead of “on” and things like that, mistakes that aren’t obvious, and that are still words so a spell checker doesn’t catch them. It surprises me though how many people just… don’t bother with good writing practices. Maybe not so much on places like Twitter, where every character counts, but everywhere else where people write in public spaces, there’s… [Continue Reading]

A Ramble about Cats

There was a story I was told when I was at school, that a Saint Helena brought a shit ton of cats to a small monastery to get rid of the local population of rats and snakes, and that was why there are so many cats in Cyprus. Whether the story is genuinely true or she just let go of a bunch of cats near a church and only added slightly to the Cypriot feline population, I have no idea. But I like cats and I felt this was a good story to start off this ramble. Also apparently, some… [Continue Reading]

A Justice League Movie Review

So I saw Justice League the other day with my brother and sister. On a Tuesday, where the prices were cheaper. €7 a head. Was the movie worth it? Probably not. Then again, most movies aren’t really worth seeing in the cinema, in my opinion. Still, a review is in order, while it is all fresh in my head. A quick summary before we go into spoiler territory: Justice League was alright but it was too slow, there wasn’t really enough action and too much sappy cheese. Good enough for an average viewer, probably not great for a real DC… [Continue Reading]

On Enjoying Various Kinds of Music

It’s hard to describe music that I like. On one hand, I’m the old sort of sap who will happily listen to Crowded House for hours and hours on end. On the other hand, I’ll also happily listen to Disturbed for hours and hours on end. I also enjoy somewhat mainstream music like Queens of the Stone Age and Radiohead, both of whom have featured in reviews here on the Daily SPUF. Heck, I also saw Radiohead live, on the day that “2 + 2 = 5” was recorded live for the Com Lag EP.Seriously. If you have Com Lag… [Continue Reading]
