A Mad Dash to the Finish Line in Destiny 2

Around about now, the Season of the Risen in Destiny 2 is coming to an end. Originally, after I finished up with the Witch Queen, I kinda just decided I was done with Destiny 2 for a bit, and went to play something else. However, I had failed to realize that there was something I wanted in the premium season pass: a cool emote. An emote right at the very end of the current season pass. At the time, I kinda said I wouldn’t do it. I didn’t fancy grinding up a whole season pass, and I wasn’t sure that… [Continue Reading]

An Addiction to the Jump Key

If you have been browsing the Daily SPUF for a while, you may have noticed that our chief editor hates anything to do with parkour, platforming and jumping puzzles. Before any sort of parkour can be done, there’s always some hesitation. After all, most games kill you if you fall into a pit. However, despite my uneasy parkour ‘skills’ (I am not skilled in any way), there’s something odd about how I play video games. I rarely have my feet firmly planted on the ground. In fact, when I move around, I probably jump too much. But why? Why am… [Continue Reading]

How Does This Jump Jetpack Thing Even Work?

I like my Warlock in Destiny 2. While I keep my yellow Exo covered up at all times, I’ve had the Exo for so long that I don’t mind how yellow and ugly my character looks. Not only that, but I enjoy the gameplay and the abilities of Warlocks too. My current favourite is Void Warlock, and I am working on a build so I can throw more grenades on the regular. However, there is one thing I despise about my Warlock. What the fuck is this jumping ability? I’ve been playing Destiny 2 for a while and I still… [Continue Reading]

On Lava and Looking Hot

Sea of Thieves has quite a lot of different cosmetics. Absolutely tons of gear to customize your character. While the character creation screen is one of the strangest I have ever seen in a video game, at least Sea of Thieves makes up for it by having a ton of cosmetics that can be bought or unlocked. However, you can also unlock Curses, which are basically TF2’s Unusual gear except for your skin. Curses look really cool, but they are obtained by doing all sorts of difficult tasks. So, when I next played with Bacxaber and his crew, we all… [Continue Reading]

Meet the Medic is still the best Meet the Team short

I actually was planning to write a different article today. I’ve got about 40 different articles that I have started. And by ‘started’ I mean I wrote a couple of sentences and then not done anything else. It happens a lot, the brain writes what the brain wants. Today’s article now is something completely different. How I got from complaining to Destiny 2’s jump mechanics to watching Meet the Medic for the umpteenth time, I have no idea. But here I am, writing about Meet the Medic anyway. Mostly because I’ve re-watched it like 6-7 times now, always spotting little… [Continue Reading]

Maybe Wukong is a little too strong…

With every anniversary event in Warframe, we are also given a peak into player stats. After all, it’s interesting to see which frames are popular and which ones aren’t. However, for the last couple of years, we’ve had the same Warframe at the top, quite a bit higher than expected. The frame in question is Wukong Prime, which has managed to beat all three starters when it comes to most-used Warframes. But why though, why is Wukong Prime so popular? Plenty of everything. Wukong has got a little bit of everything. He has a damage-dealing twin that uses our weapons;… [Continue Reading]

I’d Rather Not

The other day, I went to get a COVID test. It was part of a government initiative to test as many people as possible. The idea was to test most of the working populace before they returned to work. There were testing locations in most major city locations, and although we did have to wait, it was orderly. Everyone stood 2 meters apart and kept their distance. The test itself was also pretty easy. We gave the nurses our contact details, we did the test and waited only a few minutes to receive our results. Thankfully, I tested negative. Considering… [Continue Reading]

On Destiny 2’s Glaives

Glaives are odd objects. In reality, a glaive is a long polearm weapon, with a 50cm-ish blade on one end and a whole lot of long stick. But at the same time, the name Glaive is also sometimes given to sharp, throwable discs that come back, a bit like a boomerang. While Warframe uses the term “Glaive” to be a throwable, bladed, circular weapon, Destiny 2 has gone with the more European option, which is a blade on a big stick. And also putting some sort of gun on it too. Destiny 2’s Glaives look cool. The Glaive weapon type… [Continue Reading]

A Review of Quake’s Expansion Packs (Part 2)

I wasn’t sure whether to write this article. You see, I wasn’t quite as enamored with the concept of the new expansion packs as I was the old. Sure, it’s nice to have more Quake, but I was bummed that they only used the base-game content. Plus they ignored all the new assets/weapons/enemies from the expansion packs. But I wanted to complete the entire set, and was curious to see what sort of gameplay updates developers had figured out in the many years since the originals released. Dimension of the Past This first expansion pack was released in 2018, to… [Continue Reading]

A Review Of Quake’s Expansion Packs (Part 1)

On April 19 2021, the Steam version of Quake got a massive enhancement update. It added graphical updates, cross-play multiplayer, restored original soundtracks, and four expansion packs. Two of these, Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity, were the canonical expansions released back during Quake‘s normal commercial cycle. The final two (Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine) were added decades later, as free celebratory add-ons. This article will be focused on the earlier pair, with hopefully another for the latter two coming later. Quake For a Modern Audience Before I played through these, I re-completed the original… [Continue Reading]
