5 Payday Akimbos Every Player Should Try

Last week MoustachedPotatoes and ‘uh’ requested a video covering akimbo weapons, since they, and myself have trouble telling them all apart. I confess that for the most part I just use the Akimbo STRYKs for everything, but after some research, I’ve learned about other builds that favor specific akimbos. So today we’re covering 5 Akimbo Weapons Every Player Should Try #1 – The Parabellum pistols can hit 32 concealment, the highest possible for non-DLC players. This is pretty great considering the amazing damage output. Speaking of damage output: #2 – The Goliath shotguns will probably never be as famous as… [Continue Reading]

5 Ways to Farm Weapon Parts in Payday 2

Every heister remembers the early days, so many awesome-looking weapon mods like laser sights and specific scopes that you’d totally use if the game would just drop them already. You’ll unlock everything eventually, but if you ever want to get serious about farming out weapon mods, there are a few ways to speed the process up a bit. Here are 5 Ways to Farm Weapon Mods Quickly! 1 – Before you start farming cards, strip any attachments from weapons you own and don’t care about. The game will stop dropping any specific mod after you already have two unused in… [Continue Reading]

5 Versatile Weapons for Base Game Players in Payday 2

When I covered 5 Free Weapons Every Payday Player Should Try, several people were disappointed that I focused exclusively on the bizarre weapons that had unique mechanics, instead of covering all-purpose firearms from the ordinary weapon categories. This video is for them: 5 Versatile weapons For Base Game Players in Payday 2 Starting with #1, The Union 5.56 is one of the easiest and most effective assault rifles in the whole game, mostly due to its nonexistent recoil, huge magazine and better-than average stats across the board. It runs out of reserve ammo quickly, but this is offset by its… [Continue Reading]

5 Tips For Going Infamous in Payday 2

Payday 2‘s Infamy mechanic is designed to increase replayability, but it can be daunting since it’s non-reversible. There are some things you can do to make your next level-up marathon easier, so without further ado, here are 5 Things To Do Before Going Infamous #1) Make sure you have a good primary and secondary weapon with no reputation level requirements. I recommend the Interceptor .45 pistol and an akimbo SMG. Speaking of akimbo SMGs: #2) Since you’ll retain any weapons in your inventory, fill all your remaining weapon slots with the priciest gun available. At the time of this video,… [Continue Reading]

The 5 Best Joker Cops in Payday 2

Joker is my second-favorite skill in the game, behind Inspire. There are a lot of cops to choose from, but you only get to convert one or two, so it’s important you pick the best convertible cop available. So today, we’re covering The 5 Best Joker Cops in Payday 2! Starting with #1, the basic rule of thumb is to prioritize any cop carrying a shotgun. Shotguns are incredibly powerful in this game, there’s a reason Bulldozers carry them. The exception is #2) If you’re playing a heist with a lot of open area, like Heat Street or Armored Transport… [Continue Reading]

The UMP Strikes Back

Recently, I got the chance to play PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, the battle royale simulator that took the entire FPS community by storm and beat King of the Kill at its own game. I played on my friend’s account, and earned a single kill in my first (and as of this writing, only) round: I’m not gonna lie, that’s the reason I’m writing an article about the UMP right now. The Heckler & Koch Universale Maschinenpistole was made to serve as a lighter and cheaper alternative to the equally-famous MP5 sold by the same company. It’s known for being extremely moddable, and perhaps that’s why… [Continue Reading]

Payday 2: On Joker Cops

There are a couple reasons I frequently finding myself grabbing Joker skills in my Payday 2 builds; firstly, they’re under the Mastermind skill tree, which also comes with all the medic skills. The top joker skill, Hostage Taker, lets you regenerate health every five seconds if you have a converted cop. This works great with most of my favorite perk decks, especially my current love Stoic, which has phenomenal tanking potential but no innate way to regenerate the slivers of damage that will slowly wear you down throughout a heist. But even when I don’t spec all the way into… [Continue Reading]

Left 4 Dead: The Birth of a Genre

Left 4 Dead was a great game. It had the perfect mix of arcadey action and strategic gameplay to entice shooter fans of every skill level, while also having amazing writing and atmosphere that really sold the survival horror aesthetic. Sure, it wasn’t the first 4-player coop (Yahtzee even griped in his Left 4 Dead 2 review about how commonplace those sorts of games were), but it carved a niche for itself that is so prevalent nowadays that I’d call an entire subsection of Co-op horde shooters “Left 4 Dead clones”. Left 4 Dead famously came into existence when the… [Continue Reading]

On Gold Weapons

Humans love to customize things. We want to leave our mark on the items that mean the most to us, and as a warrior culture we especially love to own weapons that have unique, stylized decals. In the programmed world of video games, where one need not worry about firearm maintenance or practicality, the sky is the limit for how many ways we can customize our guns. So why do so many developers immediately go for golden guns? When available (and they seem to be available in almost every game with weapon skins), a golden reskin will almost always have… [Continue Reading]

A Bow Pretending to be a Rocket Launcher

All right, this one is a lot less literally a rocket launcher than the one Medic talked about. But since it’s my favorite primary weapon in the entire game, I couldn’t resist writing an article on the Plainsrider Bow with explosive arrows from Payday 2. Long ago I included the Western Pack on a list of DLC I recommend because, since Payday 2 didn’t (and still doesn’t) have any free grenade launchers or poison weapons, the Plainsrider Bow unlocks both playstyles in a single weapon. Firing arrows tipped with dynamite, the Plainsrider has a number of advantages over other explosives.… [Continue Reading]
