Christmas Present Gifting Tips – 2016

I’ll be honest, I am feeling very Bah Humbug this year. I’m in no mood to spend money on people, and most people aren’t really fans of getting shitty art as gifts unless they’re Davjo and it’s a picture of a Snivy. I know it’s the ought that counts but my art isn’t really of gift-giving quality. That being said, I’m doing my best to be Christmassy, so here’s some nice gift-giving tips for this year! Why this year, you ask? Well, since the last time I did an article like this, things have changed. For example, gift wrap over… [Continue Reading]

The Civil War of Skyrim

The Civil War in Skyrim, between the Empire and the Stormcloaks, is one of those rather split stories. Players tend to go one way or the other and stick to their beliefs. It’s really not a clear cut thing like killing or sparing Paarthurnax. Really, the Civil War is a hugely complex issue and one single article can’t really do it justice, but I’ll try. First off, some specifics. Whatever side you pick in the Civil War, nothing really changes apart from the guards and the Jarls, and a handful of more extreme supporters on either side. Whiterun never gets… [Continue Reading]

Advanced Warfare: A Comprehensive Rambling

CALL OF DUTY: ADVANCED WARFARE ~A comprehensive rambling~ Call of Duty is quite the series, starting as a WW2 shooter series, then becoming the go-to run-and-camp FPS and eventually going into the realms of science fiction. Advanced Warfare is the first full Call of Duty game by Sledgehammer games, which did work on previous Call of Duty games like Modern Warfare 3. It is set in the mid-late 2050s, where North Korea hates freedom and Chechen terrorists have formed worldwide terror organizations with vague anarchist goals. Part 1: The Campaign (Plot spoilers below) A brief overview of the campaign gives a… [Continue Reading]

My Little Specter

My little Specter, made out of glitter. Cost a ton of credits, they’re all dimwits. So silly and derpy, their AI is wonky. No real uses, unless they’re Ancient bitches. My little Specter, why did I bother? I’ve had the crafting recipes for all three kinds of Warframe specter, plus Ancient Healer specters, plus Moas and all sorts for ages. I’d never used any of them because I wasn’t really sure what they did. But really, I was more scared that, once I made a bunch of them, I’d lose the blueprints – after all, you lose the blueprints when… [Continue Reading]

Video Game Burnout

Right now, I’m going through a phase. It’s a phase of laziness and self-loathing, but it’s not the same as my other phases of laziness and self-loathing. No, this one is different. It has affected me via video games as well. I’ve basically lost the will to game. For a normal person, or even a normal gamer, that’s not a problem. They’ll go do something else for a bit. Maybe play Candy Crush or something. But I’ve got a gaming blog to run, and as much as I’d like to post my Phoviverse stuff here, it really doesn’t suit the… [Continue Reading]

On Demoman in General

Some articles sit empty for months or even years, never getting finished. Most of my articles don’t, but this one about Demomen has been ignored. When I wrote the title, I’d played TF2 and played Demoman and my mind was full of thoughts that quickly vanished. Some of those thoughts later appeared as a rant about Demoknights but normal Demomen just sat here. So let’s talk about Demomen! Except… I don’t know what to say. But I do know what I used to say. Demoman was the power house of the game. As much as Medic, if not more than… [Continue Reading]

On the Species of Dragons

Dragons don’t exist. They probably never will. Yet people still argue about them and what they think dragons should look like. This argument is generally between four-legged, two-winged dragons and wyverns, with a lot of people saying that wyverns ‘aren’t true dragons’ or ‘are inferior to four-legged, two-winged dragons’ and other similar arguments. Well bollocks to that! Let’s get the bias out of the way first. I really like wyverns as a type of dragon. They can get away with being more elegant than your standard four-legged, two-winged dragon, despite the fact that they have trouble walking on land. Then… [Continue Reading]

Rambling on about Minecraft – My way of playing

I’m genuinely surprised that I haven’t written more Minecraft articles in the past. I used to be an avid Minecraft player, especially back when I started writing for the Daily SPUF, but it’s never really come up. I suppose it’s because everyone has pretty much covered Minecraft elsewhere, plus I wasn’t really doing anything new or innovative like building complex redstone mechanisms or recreating world icons or things like that. I just did what most people were doing, which was survive. That being said, I HAVE recreated CTF_Turbine in Minecraft, on an old creative mode server that no longer exists,… [Continue Reading]

Playing With Other People

It turns out that most of my life, I’ve been a bit of a lone wolf. Yes, I’m a Medic main, but I don’t really play that much with other people, I’m more likely to play a game on my own and maybe invite people round later. It does depend on the game, but games with other people tend to have a lot of different obstacles to jump over, to the point where I just end up playing alone. Getting the timing right is the big one. There’s people I genuinely enjoy playing with, but they’re never online, or one… [Continue Reading]

A Rant About Dawnguard

I don’t suppose many of you remember the Dawnguard Snipin’ series I did a while back, which concluded back in January, but it was pretty clear that 1. I had played through Skyrim’s vampire-based DLC before and 2. that I clearly went with the Dawnguard and didn’t consider the vampire side at all. I’ve actually played both sides, and I’m considering doing a brand new Skyrim playthrough at some point, including Dawnguard and Dragonborn, but it recently occurred to me just how stupid the Dawnguard storyline is. I did go on about it in Dawnguard Snipin’, but most of those… [Continue Reading]
