The Art of War

Argeon is the face of SPUF fiction and a highly visible member in the weapon balance scene. Creator of the successful “Which Weapons Need Changing?” thread and the “Write Some Moar” contests, he also takes free requests for TF2 Fiction and is one of SPUF’s most frequent posters throughout the TF2 section. Today, we got him to write a little about himself. 1. What originally got you into TF2 fiction? To be completely honest, it’s a long trip with an inspirational figure which drew me on board. It started out as a knack I had at writing stories, ever since… [Continue Reading]

Write Some Moar! 2 : The Announcement

You’re the new one, right? Alright, I’ll fill you in on what’s going on, but time is money and money is good, so don’t waste too much of it on questions. I’m Argeon, pretty big guy up in Sydney, but I’m not gonna tough-guy on you – we got business to do. Our writer, Atticus, is having a writer’s block, but we need to release new fiction here for our Australian readers. We managed to get you and the dozens of other applicants typewriters for the occasion. I don’t want to scare you off, but it is in every sense… [Continue Reading]

How to Host Your Own SPUF Event (It’s Easy!)

The SPUF server has been home to many fun events over the years, from the juggernaut semi-competitive events like SPUF vs. SPUD and ever popular Gunslinger vs. Highlander series, to smaller sillier events like The Guillotine Games and tomorrow’s WAR Update Part 2. Have you ever had an idea for an event, but weren’t sure if you have what it takes to run it? My first event ever was the first Demoknights vs. Demomen, created by The Pyro King and abandoned by The Pyro King. I still wanted the event to happen and saw many others did too, so I… [Continue Reading]

Texas Gunslinger Massacre IV

MONOLOGUE I promised myself I’d never do this again, but since Season 3 was apparently a tie, we must settle the score once and for all. That’s right. It’s the seasonal spamfest known as the… TEXAS GUNSLINGER MASSACRE IV Since the July 10th patch, Engineers have been dealt a heavy blow with nerfs to the Gunslinger and Wrangler, but will this be enough to help the Highlanders secure the season? DATE 12/28/2013 (Saturday) at 12:00 PM EST. *But that’s assuming Valve doesn’t screw up, but if they do, we’ll push it back a week later. SERVER I have my own… [Continue Reading]

An Unpopular Position on Itsurblog

With the second itsurblog thread closed, it’s clear to see that there is a major uproar about it. SPUFers, both big-names and the small-names, rise together as one, petitioning for a new subforum and posting up new itsurblogs, either disguised or clearly labeled. However, the few that stand against all of this madness get shut down. I argue for the unpopular position – the position that will certainly cause me some trouble, but such is the way of the minority view. Once a few people thought that the earth rotated around the sun, whereas the majority thought it was the… [Continue Reading]

Medieval Highlander results!

Everyone had a blast during the Medieval Highlander tournament this Saturday! Ultimately, team BLU sweeped the scoreboard, only losing a single round of Helltower when RED scout Davjo drank a Bonk! and jumped his way into the Bombinomicon surrounded by enemies. I’m waiting on several people to send me their demos, and when that happens I’ll have a compilation of the tournament from several points of view, but until then you can watch the event from the eyes of the worst spy in Team Fortress 2: This tournament kicked off our initiative as SPUF community organizers to have a new… [Continue Reading]

Regarding the Difference Between SPUF and the Steam Forums

You read that correctly, this one isn’t an article about TF2, but about the official forum meant for its discussion. No, not the Steam Community User Discussions, I’m referring to SPUF. Or as some may call it, the Steam Powered User Forums, despite the lack of an actual “powered” noun anywhere in the title for the Steam Forums. More specifically, by SPUF, I mean the TF2 section of the Steam Forums, and that distinction is something I’m going to be touching upon in this article. To put it simply, it’s sort of odd that we as a community frequently refer to… [Continue Reading]

In Memory of Itsurblog 2

Urblog thread 2: The Revenge was the next in a duology of wildly successful blog threads on SPUF, both started by Zekrom3112, who must have some sort of voodoo magic for getting away with it twice. It once again has been locked, and unlike last time I’m not sure why. I was surprised when I went to the last page of itsurblog 2 and noticed that every post was TF2-related. The mods didn’t even put it out of its misery like the dongers/neontext/Lenny-faced ending of itsurblog 1. It was calm, rational, and conversational TF2 to the last post. I really… [Continue Reading]

A Few Changes

With the world of Team Fortress 2 being such a huge universe with so many different aspects, it’s difficult to cover all of them at once with a single article featured a day. In addition, we’ve been unable to try some new ideas we’ve had since we don’t want to disrupt the many articles that we have just waiting to be published. Thus, The Daily SPUF is announcing a new initiative: columns. We’re inviting you, the loyal readers and contributors, to think of something interesting to cover within the world of TF2 and write for us regularly about that topic. Interested… [Continue Reading]
