Pokemon Go Needs More Random Encounters

I absolutely loved the Team Go Rocket pre-Go Fest event. Sure, the event research sucked ass, but it was awesome having grunts to fight! It’s also cool being able to fight Giovanni and the Leaders, without scouring Pokestops with a radar. The nicest thing is that you can just sit at home on your own and have an encounter. Sure, most of the time, it’s a male grunt with an Omanyte, but it’s a nice little encounter. Something to spice up an otherwise empty world. Let’s face it, Pokemon Go’s map is bland! Up until we got the buddy update,… [Continue Reading]

Team Go Rocket Strikes Back with Hot Air Balloons

Remember a while back that I was lamenting about not being able to fight Team Rocket Grunts? Well, my problem has very suddenly been solved! Team Go Rocket have spent a lot of money investing in hot air balloons so they can attack us in person! Yep, you can now fight Team Go Rocket on the Fly! Kinda. It seems that, about four times a day, a Team Go Rocket balloon will hover across your screen and float around for a bit, allowing you to challenge a grunt to a fight. The Team Rocket balloon, similar to the one used… [Continue Reading]

The Weird Thing I Miss in Pokemon Go – Team Rocket Grunt Battles

It’s funny what I find myself missing. Due to, well, the world collapsing and a lot of people staying indoors, Pokemon Go has been a bit of a weird thing. But even with the world being what it is, I recently moved house. Because of that, I no longer have stupidly easy access to Pokestops. Sure, I managed to get a Pokestop at the end of my road, but the density of Pokestops just isn’t there. And because of this, I can’t do the thing I weirdly enjoy most in Pokemon Go. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because the… [Continue Reading]

Team GO Rocket Attacks Nearly Every Pokestop – the 2pm – 5pm Team GO Rocket Event

On March 7th 2020, from 2pm until 5pm, Team GO Rocket struck again! They attacked every single Pokestop they could find! For three glorious hours, Giovanni’s grunts, both male and female, took over every Pokestop around, while also giving up bonus stardust. There were also a handful of special Team GO Rocket research tasks. And frankly? It was bloody brilliant! In fact, this mini-event was so good that I managed to get my Shadow Entei in under 2 hours. That’s genuinely insane. I actually started today with just a single Rocket Radar, hoping to defeat one of the Team GO… [Continue Reading]

Are the Monthly Team Rocket Quests Too Difficult?

In the past, we have discussed a lot of Team Go Rocket stuff, from how to beat them to the rather weird, outlandish theories I have about all of them being clones. But I haven’t really discussed the actual difficulty level of these monthly research quests. Sure, I mentioned how the “purify Pokemon” step is easier to do. And I was glad when Arlo stopped having Scyther as his starting Pokemon. But in general, is this special research too difficult? I’m going to say yes. Before I go on though, I feel I should point out that I can be… [Continue Reading]

The Quantum Instability of Team Rocket Go Leaders

A few days ago, I decided to do a little bit of late night walking to clear my mind and to catch some Luvdics, because I had a research task that required me to catch them. I did a lot of walking, to the point that I ended up running into a guy who was trying to do a Team Rocket Go Leader. Cliff was being a massive pain in the ass, doing to us with his Pinsir what Arlo did to us with his Scyther and Scizor. Unfortunately, it was very late, to the point that the Team Rocket… [Continue Reading]

The Take-Over Continues – The Team Rocket Quest Again

Back in November, we were introduced to the quest Looming in the Shadows, which introduced Team GO Rocket Leaders and of course the Boss Giovanni into Pokemon Go, with a series of tasks that led you to obtaining the first shadow legendary, Articuno. Then, in December, we got the special research A Challenging Development, which was exactly the same set of tasks except for the fact that you got a shadow Zapdos instead of a shadow Articuno. Now, in 2020, we have a new yet identical series of tasks called The Take-Over Continues. Which will give us a shadow Moltres.… [Continue Reading]

Being a Better Team GO Rocket Leader

While I’m a long, long way off from getting a gold Team GO Rocket medal for defeating 1,000 grunts, I managed to get the silver medal in record time and generally have no issue defeating these grunts, even if they throw a curve ball at me with a random Gyarados or Dragonite. Mostly because of Ty, my Stone Edge Tyranitar, because he’s so strong. Sure, I don’t have the higher level Purifier badge because stardust is expensive, but I beat almost all Team GO Rocket Pokestops on the first attempt. Sure, Team GO Rocket are trying. They even seem to… [Continue Reading]

Team Rocket Attacks Pokemon Go and the Real World

A new Pokemon Go update has appeared, featuring Team Rocket of all people. Wait, no, not Team Rocket. This lot are called Team GO Rocket, to totally differentiate themselves. Team GO Rocket are attacking Pokestops and stealing the resources from them and it’s up to us to stop them! Actually, the system is pretty cool. You can spot an affected (infected?) Pokestop because it’s darker than most and the cube on top vibrates and glitches out. As you get closer, the Pokestops turn black, a nice red R appears on top and a Team Rocket Go NPC appears and challenges… [Continue Reading]
