My Little Helminth Charger

So my beloved Volt Prime is infected with a horrible cyst on his neck, picked up from playing with an infected Mesa while killing robotic hyenas for parts of a new character, but it turns out that horrible infectious disease comes in handy for one thing – making a new type of pet. Kinda. What you do is get yourself infected. Then you get yourself a Kubrow egg and an Incubator Power Core. You then drain the cyst into the Kubrow egg which sounds as gross as it… sounds. I only say that because when you select the option to… [Continue Reading]

The Helminth Illness

There’s a new Warframe in town, the annoyingly hard to get Nidus. He comes with a half good, half awful quest to get his blueprint and can only be obtained via the C rotation of rewards on a pain in the ass mission. Nidus’s update, the Glast Gambit (weird title, right?) came with a lot of ups and downs. The ups mostly being a new sparring weapon after the first two were released three years ago and the impressively good abilities Nidus has, the downs mostly being the second half of the Glast Gambit quest and the research costs of… [Continue Reading]

The Floating Nut Sack of Suckiness

The Floating Nutsack of Suckiness is probably one of the most useful things around. It happily floats behind you, sucking loot towards you and minding its own business. Give it a shotgun and it will shoot things. Give it more shields and it’ll buff you when your shield runs out. Give it an ammo case and it will convert dropped ammo you can’t use into dropped ammo you can’t use. Let it die in a fiery explosion and it has a chance of giving you rare items. I’m of course talking about the Carrier. The Carrier is one of a… [Continue Reading]

The Tenno Queen of the Pixies

I joined Warframe during the Specters of the Rail update. Not long afterwards, a new character was added, whose construction involved collecting ingredients on various planets, mainly Earth. This was great for newbie me, because it meant loads of high level players were around to do the harder mission types, like Mobile Defence and Survival. I would also see people actually taking their time on missions, something that would become a rare sight later on in my Warframe adventures. But eventually, I moved away from Earth and made my journey around the solar system. I saw a handful of people… [Continue Reading]

Building a new friend for Volt Prime

In Warfame, you’re just some person with a collection of scary, metal suits. But in my head, each suit is actually an individual character with their own personalities, which you may have spotted in some of my recent Warframe fan fictions. Of course, the sort of person that I am, I realised that while my beloved Volt has a buddy in Frost, my precious Volt Prime has no friends at all. I needed Frost Prime. Problem is, Frost Prime is pretty rare. He was ‘vaulted’ (i.e. retired) a long time ago. Then December 2016 came along and Frost Prime, alongside… [Continue Reading]

A Volt Guide Written by an Idiot

“Holy fucking Bahrag, Medic, do you play anyone but Volt?” Well, I do use Frost occasionally, and Titania has proven herself to genuinely be very fun, but no, I am normally playing Volt. Volt Prime, in fact, because he’s the only guy with a Focus Lens installed. Let’s just say, after a good hundred hours and several obsessions, I think I’m starting to understand this character, and I want to share that understanding with newbies who probably picked Volt and don’t know what the fuck they’re doing. Because I didn’t have a fucking clue what I was doing when I… [Continue Reading]

On Relics and Prime Parts

In Warframe, there are fancy versions of normal things. For example, there is Volt, and a fancy version of him called Volt Prime. Volt Prime is slightly better than normal Volt – he has slightly more armour and an extra V slot in his mods. He also has bright, shiny gold bits, exclusive to Prime items. All Prime items have these shiny gold bits, as well as either a black and gold or white and gold colour scheme. Now, Prime items are obtainable in-game, like most things in Warframe. You can buy new Prime sets as they come out if… [Continue Reading]

Mods and Mechs

I don’t think Warframes are really mechs, more biomechanical constructs. But there is a lot of modding that goes on in Warframe. As in customization of your characters, not Skyrim-levels of modding. It’s all in-game. Modding is quite simple. You get mods as loot. You find a lot of mods on the ground, but some are mission rewards and some are… Dug up from the ground in Excavation missions. They come in three flavors, bronze, silver and gold, but these are rarity, not how good they are. Vitality for example ups your health but is a bronze mod. Continuity increases… [Continue Reading]

Power Pissing Contest

“Hey kid!” Frost grinned as he slapped the young Volt on the back. “Yellow, black and grey? Unusual colour combination. Did Ordis tell you his sensors were bleeding when you equipped that?” The Volt, who was holding a mod he’d just picked up, trying to work out whether it was useful, blinked. Or, at least, his inexperienced operator did. “W-we can talk to each other?” “Um, yes, of course we can talk!” the overly friendly, trench coat-wearing Warframe continued to grin. Unlike Volt, he was wearing his best primed syandana, a word Volt could barely pronounce, and a fancy helmet… [Continue Reading]

A Bored Little Volt

Readers, let me know if you fancy seeing any more stories around here, fan fiction, whatever. Also feel free to let me know if you don’t want to see new Warframe articles. Volt was bored. He had been lounging around inside his Orbiter for several hours now, waiting for things to happen. Great things he had been told. Mysterious things. New things to do. It wasn’t like Volt didn’t have things to do. He still had plenty of missions building up from across the Origin System, particularly on Jupiter, Europa and Pluto, but they were boring missions, mostly tedious missions… [Continue Reading]
