Cumbersome Rounds

I still haven’t beaten this game, but it’s a damn lot of fun. Essentially, it’s a procedurally generated rougelike (a bunch of words I usually avoid like the plague) twitch-shooter (two words I’m very much fond of!) and strangely, they go together pretty well! You’re simply dumped in the game with one objective: “Reset the mainframe.” Unfortunately, the electrician who installed it left it behind eight rooms of deadly enemies and two bosses. Bloody typical. Edit: I went into the game to get a screenshot of Level 1 and forgot I was at Level 4. I then continued and won… [Continue Reading]

MeeM’s Thoughts on Voxel Hat Dimension Hopper

For those of you who don’t know – That’s FEZ. FEZ is a small game about a guy, called Gomez. He has a hat. More specifically, a fez. This covers the majority of the storyline. The rest of the storyline centres around the magical ability of this fez. It allows Gomez to visit unseen dimensions. Not quite a third dimension, but simply different perspectives of the same dimension. If you get what I mean. And if you don’t… you won’t. The thing about a FEZ is that (slightly less than) half of the game can be achieved solely through the application… [Continue Reading]

Christmas Present Gifting Tips – 2016

I’ll be honest, I am feeling very Bah Humbug this year. I’m in no mood to spend money on people, and most people aren’t really fans of getting shitty art as gifts unless they’re Davjo and it’s a picture of a Snivy. I know it’s the ought that counts but my art isn’t really of gift-giving quality. That being said, I’m doing my best to be Christmassy, so here’s some nice gift-giving tips for this year! Why this year, you ask? Well, since the last time I did an article like this, things have changed. For example, gift wrap over… [Continue Reading]

600 Articles of Medicing

Not long ago, I wrote an article on how I’d written over 500 articles on the Daily SPUF. Since then, I haven’t stopped writing, oh no, I’ve been writing more and more and more. I’ve actually gone straight past the 600 article mark. Turns out, I got distracted with my own writings and forgot to come back to this article and actually write anything of substance. Then again, I don’t actually know what to write or anything. At the same time, I could also mention that we’re closing in flown straight past on the 1300 articles mark. Really though, neither… [Continue Reading]

Mods and Mechs

I don’t think Warframes are really mechs, more biomechanical constructs. But there is a lot of modding that goes on in Warframe. As in customization of your characters, not Skyrim-levels of modding. It’s all in-game. Modding is quite simple. You get mods as loot. You find a lot of mods on the ground, but some are mission rewards and some are… Dug up from the ground in Excavation missions. They come in three flavors, bronze, silver and gold, but these are rarity, not how good they are. Vitality for example ups your health but is a bronze mod. Continuity increases… [Continue Reading]

FPS Cliches Found on Only One TF2 Weapon

Hey look, a TF2 article! As a longstanding and proud member of the first-person-shooter genre, TF2 nevertheless stands apart from most other games due to its versatile array of weapon designs and its avoidance of most of the common shooting mechanics that permeate shooter games. TF2 is really amazing in just how simple they keep the core combat at its foundation, avoiding things like weapon stability, accuracy modifiers, tactical reloads, and other ‘realistic’ mechanics that complicate matters. This article is designed to showcase the few cases where these mechanics appeared, usually in subtle form. The scarcity of their presence just reinforces how… [Continue Reading]

Power Pissing Contest

“Hey kid!” Frost grinned as he slapped the young Volt on the back. “Yellow, black and grey? Unusual colour combination. Did Ordis tell you his sensors were bleeding when you equipped that?” The Volt, who was holding a mod he’d just picked up, trying to work out whether it was useful, blinked. Or, at least, his inexperienced operator did. “W-we can talk to each other?” “Um, yes, of course we can talk!” the overly friendly, trench coat-wearing Warframe continued to grin. Unlike Volt, he was wearing his best primed syandana, a word Volt could barely pronounce, and a fancy helmet… [Continue Reading]

The Dark Brotherhood of Skyrim

I’ve written about two of the major parts of Skyrim, the Companions and the Civil War, and I thought I might as well continue that trend and write about some of the other major factions of Skyrim. As to what group to start with, that was a tricky decision, and I ultimately decided to go with the Dark Brotherhood, a small family of assassins. Because we all need a little bit of edginess in our lives. Of course, there are spoilers ahead, so read on with caution if you haven’t played much Skyrim yet. Seriously. Spoilers. They start here. The… [Continue Reading]

A Bored Little Volt

Readers, let me know if you fancy seeing any more stories around here, fan fiction, whatever. Also feel free to let me know if you don’t want to see new Warframe articles. Volt was bored. He had been lounging around inside his Orbiter for several hours now, waiting for things to happen. Great things he had been told. Mysterious things. New things to do. It wasn’t like Volt didn’t have things to do. He still had plenty of missions building up from across the Origin System, particularly on Jupiter, Europa and Pluto, but they were boring missions, mostly tedious missions… [Continue Reading]

Basic Minecraft Survival Tips

Minecraft is a pretty old game, but even though I’ve been playing since alpha, I don’t remember everything. Then again, I am the sort of person who doesn’t really play to end game, I play just to survive. Really, the end game doesn’t have much in it anyway. In doing so, I’ve developed a few tricks that I use to do just that. Of course I always eventually settle down and build a shitty house, I’d like to find some diamonds eventually, but for me, it’s the journey that counts. Your First Days First things first, you need to get… [Continue Reading]
