OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood

I never had so much fun smashing my head on the pavement before. OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood is a 2D sprite-based skateboarding game. The more perceptive of you may have noticed that OlliOlli2 is a sequel. I would have played that first to see how the series started, but for some reason the game didn’t play nice with my computer, so I’ll probably have to get that fixed. In the meantime, I am having a blast with OlliOlli2. Even when the first level already gave me a lot of trouble, I still liked it. Being rather bad at games and… [Continue Reading]

Warhammer: Vermintide – Almost Literally Left 4 Dead 2

My brother has been pestering me to play Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide for ages. But the 50GB download and the fact that it was a coop-based shooter akin to Left 4 Dead put me off. I can barely get through Hard Rain on my own or with players, how was I supposed to do that with magic involved? But I couldn’t say no any more when brother dumped said 50GB on my external hard drive then asked me where my Steam Library was. With Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide installed, I had to play. Also I’m shortening that title… [Continue Reading]

The 5 Best Pistols in Payday 2

As your starter secondary of choice and the cornerstone of the Fugitive skill trees, pistols are one of the core weapon categories in Payday 2. How do you choose which pistol is the best? Well, everyone will have a different list, but here’s mine! Number 1 – The best all-around pistol is the Baby Deagle, it’s got the damage output of the magnums with the concealment, firing speeds and versatility of the smaller caliber options. If you don’t have the Ultimate edition, the White Streak is a base game option that only suffers from fewer available mods Number 2 –… [Continue Reading]

Like Sentinels but Worse

One of the biggest draws of Fortuna is the ability to build your own MOA, the two-legged mechanical critters the Corpus normally throw at us and we massacre in droves. MOAs were said to be a cross between Sentinels and Pets, giving you the power of both, while also having their own powers and abilities. In theory, that sounds bloody amazing. But having used MOAs? I’m not so sure. There are currently three types of MOA and they all look cute and derpy rather than like killing machines. Even the bog-standard Shockwave MOAs look more menacing than the bulky, lumpy… [Continue Reading]

NOT A HERO

Nope, no you are not. Not A Hero is a 2D shoot ’em up developed by a British developer, Roll7. It is a single-player game with unlockable characters. The premise of the game is as follows: A purple man with a bunny head traveled back in time to run for election to be a mayor. He did this in order to save the world as we know it from total annihilation. To make sure that he wins the election, he got together a bunch of gun-totting lunatics to shoot criminals in the face. At this point my brain just left… [Continue Reading]

Building Proper Gym Defenders in Pokemon GO

As you play Pokemon GO, you’ll quickly accrue a sizeable army of tried-and-true battlers to help you take on even the most stalwart of gyms and fearsome of raids (and soon, rival trainers!) But most of those Pokemon unfortunately will not make good gym defenders. A gym defender has an impossible task assigned to them. Even at top motivation, any attacking Pokemon will have a massive advantage going into a fight. Even worse, they likely will not be at top motivation, which only makes their chances bleaker. This makes it all the more important that you select the best possible… [Continue Reading]

Ways to Help Newbies

Ever since the Plains of Eidolon were announced, there’s been a constant stream of new players. Unfortunately Warframe does a horrendous job of explaining things, so a lot of these newbies need help. But you don’t need to be an MR20+ player to help newbies, anyone can give them a hand! Here’s a few ways to help new players. Because they genuinely need it. Hang around on Region and Recruitment Chat There’s always people asking questions, so why not answer some of them? There’s also always people asking for help with missions (often defense missions, which are pretty hard to… [Continue Reading]

A Bunch of Lovely Electric Warframes

Volt couldn’t remember how he got there. He wasn’t actually sure where ‘there’ was. Either way, it was a very tight space, with only just enough room for him to stand up straight. What bothered Volt more though were all the needles sticking out of his metallic Warframe flesh. Every few seconds, a tingling sensation would run up his body then drain away, as if the needles were… sucking electricity out of him? Volt wasn’t sure. The last thing Volt could remember was being attacked by a literal ton of… No, they weren’t Zanuka Hunters. If they were, they had… [Continue Reading]

Chocolate Truffles for Hot Weather

It’s always hot here. Which means you can’t leave anything that requires non-hot temperatures on the side for any amount of time. Either two things happen, you end up with food covered in ants or you end up with warm, melted food. So things like jelly, ice cream, truffles, cheese cakes, anything like that, it’s a no-go. It stays in the fridge or it goes on the side and makes a horrible mess in a few minutes. That’s really annoying because I really like chocolate truffles. Even though I’m now finally writing this article in NOVEMBER and publishing it in… [Continue Reading]

Comparing EDF: Insect Armageddon and EDF 4.1

When I first got EDF: Insect Armageddon, I quite enjoyed it. I personally find it rather good value for money, and the core gameplay loop satisfying and engaging. I was rather surprised to find out that a large portion of the EDF community are rather dismissive about it. After playing EDF 4.1 for quite a while, I begin to see their point. EDF: IA is rather lacking, even when it is technically a better-made game. It has had a lot of great design decisions that should really be in the latter, as a lot of them made the game much less… [Continue Reading]
