5 Reasons to Use the Axe in Quake

Let’s get this out of the way; the Axe is a garbage weapon. Much like the Doom fist and the Wolfenstein knife before it, there are barely any reasons to bother with melee over the many ranged options. (In all honesty, your starting gun doesn’t fare much better. id’s design philosophy relies heavily on loadout variety, crafting weapons to serve different purposes, and the beginner weapons are always left by the wayside.) It’s so bad that it got removed completely in Quake II. However, due to Quake’s many gameplay elements, there are situational occasions where you might conceivably pull out the… [Continue Reading]

Ephemera Troubles

I love Ephemera. They’re basically unusual effects but for Warframes. And ever since the first few Ephemera effects have come out, they’ve turned out to be insanely popular. After all, these effects can give so much life to a Warframe and their fashion. However, as time passes on, these Ephemera are getting bigger and brighter. We’ve gone from little bits of melting snow to full on massive wings. How much is too much? There’s a lot of variety when it comes to Ephemera. On the one hand, you can have little leaves appear by your feet as you walk. On… [Continue Reading]

Elden Ring: First Impressions From a Total Beginner

Advance note: In no way would I consider this a full review of Elden Ring, as I’ve only played for a few nights and can easily tell I’ve barely scratched the surface of what the game has to offer. I know I’m not the only person who’s heard all the mysticism around the FromSoftware label. The Soulsborne ‘series’ has captivated a community and seems to hold a venerated place in the pantheon of gaming. Above all, its main reputation seems to be that of brutal, gut-wrenching difficulty that only masochists could enjoy. And it was for this reason I avoided… [Continue Reading]

On Paying €11 on a 67% shadow Ho-Oh

I’ll be honest. I wasted my money on the Johto tour. Playing it mostly solo wasn’t particularly fun. But at the very least, I’d get some nice Pokemon, right? After all, I got a nice shiny Ho-Oh out of it. However, a big part of purchasing the ticket was to get some cool Apex Shadow Legendary Pokemon. I like Lugia and Ho-Oh, so the idea of getting what is basically Super Ho-Oh and Super Lugia sounded pretty neat. As I opened up the encounter got Ho-Oh though, it all kinda fell apart. Why? Because I said to myself, “how bad… [Continue Reading]

At What Point Do I Become a Veteran in Video Games?

As a human being, I don’t have much self-confidence. It’s something I have struggled with for a while, both online and offline. Today, I am mostly looking at the online side of things. Because I have almost no self-confidence when it comes to games. When I used to play PvP stuff, I was rarely ever pleased with myself. Mostly because I always played as a support. Mainly just Medic in TF2, but also in other games I dabbled with. The reason I played support was always two-fold. Firstly, no one else wants to play support most of the time, but… [Continue Reading]

Mixed feelings on Gundam Evolution

A Gundam game, Gundam Evolution, is coming. It’s an action game where you pilot Mobile Suits, the in-universe name for giant humanoid robots that you pilot, to fight each other. And it’s available on Steam as a global release. And it’s free. Yet, I find myself being far less excited than I should be. The game looks like Overwatch ver. Gundam. It’s not just because it’s a FPS with each character having their own abilities and an ultimate, it’s also because the Mobile Suits feel like they are the same size and weight as a regular human. Their motions do… [Continue Reading]

In Hindsight, the Johto Tour wasn’t worth it.

So it’s been a while since the Johto Tour ended, but something about it seems off. Something I couldn’t quite place. Too much to do in one day. Here’s what we had to do: Catch the entire Johto Pokedex Evolve everything in the Johto Pokedex Do a mini research quest and get another Celebi Complete various collection challenges Take snap shots of legendary dogs Do a Team-Rocket-like battling challenge And all of that is joined by looking for shiny Pokemon and doing normal Pokemon things. Pokeballs were still in short supply, despite the ball prep event a few days prior.… [Continue Reading]

Sandshrew Community Day

It’s been a while since I commented on a Community Day, but that’s mostly because, well, they’ve not been that interesting. The last Community Day before Sandshrew was Hoppip, a rather quiet little event. However, it was just before the Johto Tour, where all Johto Pokemon had their releases anyway. So, after a bunch of Johto stuff, which also comes along with Kanto stuff, you’d think we’d have a new shiny from elsewhere, right? You never know after all. There’s still a lot of Pokemon without their shinies that would work, right? A Buggy Day Oh look another Kanto Pokemon… [Continue Reading]

Why Would Anyone Nerf Incense in Pokemon GO?

After the Johto Tour and the Season of Heritage faded away, something went wrong. Incense, one of the most accessible premium items in Pokemon GO, was nerfed. In fact, Incense had actually returned to its previous state, before COVID and all that. Why did this happen? I have no idea. But no matter how you look at Incense, it’s definitely not in a good spot any more. Pre-Pandemic Problems Before the pandemic, Incense wasn’t a particularly good item. It lasted half an hour and spawned a Pokemon every 5 minutes or so, based on how fast you were going. If… [Continue Reading]

Just Some Cool Small Youtube Channels that I’d Like to Recommend

When it comes to Youtube, my recommended section is always a bloody mess. It’s mostly full of old ASMR shit or the same handful of episodes of QI or Taskmaster. And never in any reasonable order. If it’s not UK quiz shows that I’ve already watched, it’s those damn “lo fi” channels constantly popping up, “mixes” of music or videos in a language I can’t read. Occasionally I’ll find something interesting, but I have to filter through all the other stuff first. However, sometimes you do find really cool stuff. Like the ones mentioned here. Danooct1 I’ve always been interested… [Continue Reading]
