GO Fest 2023 – Day 2

Day Two of GO Fest is always a bit more relaxed compared to day one. Mostly. While day one mostly focused on Diancie and collection challenges, day two focused on a lot more raids and featured Mega Rayquaza. Now, Mega Rayquaza is a pretty big thing. It’s so powerful that, in competitive Pokemon battling in the main games, Mega Rayquaza has to be banned. It’s hugely powerful and can completely nullify its weaknesses. In Pokemon GO, it’s not as powerful, but it still does an absolute ton of damage, to the point that it’s one of the most powerful Pokemon… [Continue Reading]

Day One of GO Fest was Fun

I bought a ticket for GO Fest. I’d enjoyed the previous GO Fest events in previous years, so I thought I’d enjoy this one. GO Fest 2023 was a mostly simple but fun event. Was it worth a ticket though? Let’s find out. Just like previous GO Fests, day one of GO Fest 2023 was split into four biomes, which rotated throughout the day. The biomes in GO Fest 2023 were based on minerals, and the main theme was crystals and gems. The Pokemon behind GO Fest was the mythical Pokemon Diancie, a rock/fairy Pokemon that, well, makes crystals and… [Continue Reading]

A Feeling of “What now?” in Pokemon GO

So, GO Fest has been and gone. It was two days of fun for me, I had a great time. However, as the event ended on Sunday, I had a weird feeling in the back of my head. That feeling faded over night, but came back in full force on Monday morning. That feeling was simple. “What now?” GO Fest was a little too much fun GO Fest was so fun that I got sun-burnt. On day 1 alone, I walked like 10km back and forth (I hatched 5 2km eggs on day 1), and we probably managed a good… [Continue Reading]

GO Fest 2021 Day 2 – Raids, But Not The Ones We Wanted

For the second day of GO Fest 2021, there was a very obvious theme. A mysterious Pokemon appeared in the Pokemon GO loading screen, and mysterious portals could be seen floating above us. Rather worryingly, the sky was not a standard blue, but dark, purple and ominous. While Day 1 may have just been a bunch of biomes, Day 2 was all about raids. Lots and lots of raids. Actually, too many raids. We had constant raids pretty much all day. Five minute egg timers, and 30 minutes to do raids after they hatch. During this time though, we had… [Continue Reading]

A Nice, Calm First Day of GO Fest

I won’t lie, I’ve been looking forward to GO Fest for a while. For the small price of €5, I can catch a ton of Pokemon and get early access to a new Mythical. Last year’s GO Fest was rather hectic, so was the Kanto festival earlier this year. This year’s GO Fest, at least the first day, was much calmer. Four biomes, varying spawns Just like previous GO Fest expeditions, the 2021 GO Fest was split into four biomes of an hour each. Last year, they were kinda based on emotions, because it was about Jirachi. However, despite this… [Continue Reading]

Enigma Week Was Pretty Naff

I’m gonna be honest here. I complained about the dragon week. But the dragon part of the ‘Ultra Unlocks’ from GO Fest wasn’t that bad. At the very least, there was Dratini spawning everywhere, and Bagon was common enough for people to get a Salamence. We also got two Deinos and Gible was a surprise encounter. Enigma Week though was boring as fuck. Nothing special what so ever. What was even in Enigma week? Enigma Week always seems to focus on strange things. We had the return of Unown for the letters U, L, T, R and A. We had… [Continue Reading]

A Look at GO FEST Day 2 – ALL THE TEAM ROCKET BATTLES!

Hey, you know how I like Team Rocket battles? You know how much I like them? Well, I like them a lot. So Day 2 of GO Fest was practically made for me. Team GO Rocket has apparently taken over GO Fest and thrown confetti everywhere and it’s up to us to stop them! There were perhaps too many battles. Every single Pokestop had a Grunt on it, which would refresh every few minutes. And GO Fest players would get a Grunt in a balloon every 15 minutes as well. With a new balloon appearing not long after beating a… [Continue Reading]

A Look at GO FEST Day 1 – Your Mileage May Vary

I know GO Fest’s first day was yesterday, but I need time to write these articles. And I spent most of yesterday catching a fuckton of Pokemon. The day was split into various ‘biomes’, with different Pokemon spawning in each biome. This would change every hour, and was accompanied by some sort of global challenge. If players beat it, they’d be rewarded with some sort of bonus, like double stardust or double candy. We also had constant raids all day, with shortened timers, as well as a Welcome to Go Fest challenge which rewarded various Pokemon, including Blastoise, Venusaur, Charizard… [Continue Reading]
