Playing the Sniper Rifle in Team Fortress Classic

Aabicus, don’t you mean “Playing the Sniper”? No, I mean playing the sniper rifle. Because that is your job. Your life. That gun is a battlefield-stomping menace that boasts more flexibility and versatility than anything in Team Fortress 2. I know you think you’ve fought sniper rifles in TF2, but you haven’t fought a gun that can: *Charge and headshot from the hip *Charge-up damage infinitely *deal slowdown on bodyshot that never goes away (unless healed by a medic) *Deal knockback to friendlies, leading to the comical-looking but super useful “Sniper Jumping” technique *Gib on fully-charged headshot But believe it… [Continue Reading]

Advice for Playing Greg

In honor of the newest comic revealing the name of the TFC Demoman, I thought I’d take this opportunity to write a guide on how to play him if you ever feel the need to give TFC a try and just embrace the grenades. Greg has so many explosive toys to play with I doubt you’ll even get a chance to try them all out in your first life before your uterus is wrapped around a tree at least ten yards away from your death’s epicenter. Just like in TF2, I main Medic and offclass Demoman,  so I’m significantly less… [Continue Reading]

An Engineer’s Guide to Engineering

As an Engineer main who has several seasons of competitive under his belt, I am often approached by numerous newcomer Engineer players with various questions such as “What loadout should I use?” or “Where should I build in the map X?”. I would love to say I know all the answers after all my time of playing, but the reality of it is–Engineering is dynamic. It can differ from Engineer to Engineer as well as their playstyle strengths and weaknesses. It can also differ from team support and team dynamics. When it comes down to it, between variables of the… [Continue Reading]

Art time with Medic – Cardboard Shotgun

Hello everyone! In today’s article, I’m going to show you how to make a shotgun out of cardboard. Why cardboard? Oh, there’s loads of reasons. Although it’s not as sturdy as wood or metal, cardboard is far lighter, cheaper, easier to use, more forgiving if you screw up and it uses old stuff that you were only going to throw away anyway. So, let’s begin!

Bush Sentries: When Man & Machine team up with Nature to ruin your day

Being one of the elders of tf2 at nearly the age of thirty, I’ve been around since the release of the Orange Box, before the game was stuffed to the gills with trickle content and inevitably released for free to the public as a means to extend it’s life, Before the Beggar’s Bazooka and it’s inevitable sky flying nerf; Before the Axtinguisher’s reign on close quarter encounters and it’s inevitable demoknight contenders and even before before The Mini Sentry and it’s widespread loathing and unavoidable slandering towards one’s sexual preference for choosing to use it liberally on King of the Hill maps.

How to be an Average Medic

Only 50% of Medics can be better than average...
Only 50% of Medics can be better than average…

Let me be honest, I’m not the best Medic in the world. Nor am I of high level competitive standards. My level of skill is average, UGC Cardboard if you will. But nonetheless, since I’m an average Medic, that means that 50% of all other Medics are better than me, and the other 50% aren’t as good as me. There’s some room for improvement, not just from me, but from that other 50% as well.

In today’s article, I’m going to give you some tips on how to be an average Medic. I won’t be going into huge detail, as this is just a suggestion, rather than the monstrous guides that some fellow Medics of SPUF are working on. Plus, it’d be almost insulting for me to give you tips on how to be a pro Medic…

Today, we’ll be chatting with resident SPUFer Davjo, currently on his second account after screaming at German people. He’s been popping up on SPUF for ages and is fairly obsessed with Scouts and map stamps. In fact, Davjo is one of the few people to have worn one of the most prestigious hats around, the Philateler.

How to Host Your Own SPUF Event (It’s Easy!)

The SPUF server has been home to many fun events over the years, from the juggernaut semi-competitive events like SPUF vs. SPUD and ever popular Gunslinger vs. Highlander series, to smaller sillier events like The Guillotine Games and tomorrow’s WAR Update Part 2. Have you ever had an idea for an event, but weren’t sure if you have what it takes to run it? My first event ever was the first Demoknights vs. Demomen, created by The Pyro King and abandoned by The Pyro King. I still wanted the event to happen and saw many others did too, so I… [Continue Reading]
