Coming out of obscurity

Sometimes things are forgotten. They’re used on the quiet, often only really toted by the pros who know the ins and outs or something. And then something will happen and suddenly said item becomes a popular murdering tool. Then people start complaining about said object. Suddenly, said weapon or whatever is suddenly hideously overpowered. Apparently. Today I’m going to whinge on about two things – the Black Box and, because I wanted a reason to write about my second favourite League of Legends champion and thought this was somewhat related, Cho’Gath. The Black Box has always been that ‘other’ rocket… [Continue Reading]

Flooricide

Killing Floor 2 came out recently, and I’ve taken the opportunity to take my first steps into the Killing Floor franchise. For someone who’s spent a significant amount of my gaming time perfecting my ability and understanding of Left 4 Dead 2 and Payday:The Heist, it’s a bit odd for me to avoid the third member of Steam’s horde-based co-op triumvirate. But I’d never liked how the objective was literally killing the zombies (or Zeds, to be politically correct.) I prefer my enemies to be an obstacle preventing me from achieving a more global objective, like reaching the next safe room or breaking… [Continue Reading]

Why you shouldn’t ship Medic with Mercy

The hype on Overwatch has somewhat calmed down a bit, but shipping people with one another never, ever stops. Especially when there’s lots of female booty waiting to be made into pornographic artwork. Seriously, there’s always porn. And pictures of hugs and cuddles and confused space-and-time traveling moments. If there’s two characters with somewhat similar personalities, abilities, looks, well, anything, there’s a picture of them cuddling up. With TF2 and Overwatch, there’s a few candidates for such parings. Widowmaker and Sniper, Zarya and Heavy and of course, Mercy and Medic. You could probably pair Symmetra with Engineer and Pharah with… [Continue Reading]

Payday 2 and Things Lost in Translation

I’m constantly having to explain to my friends how I could like Payday:The Heist better than Payday 2. The second game is a popular rollicking juggernaut with developer support, dozens of heists and weapons, customization options to rival TF2, and a huge player base. The first game has a mere nine heists, 13 weapons and nobody plays it anymore. It isn’t nostalgia; I had over 100 hours in the sequel before ever trying the first game. It’s not community-based; all of my friends play the sequel. I just really feel like Overkill Software lost track of some tiny things that hurt the whole package of… [Continue Reading]

Beings who would be great friends with the Medic

It must get boring being the Medic sometimes. Especially during times of peace. You’re stuck there with 8 other men, many of whom are often sweaty, stupid or both. It’s not fun. You could be at home with your wife. Instead you have to babysit a bunch of morons because Engineer’s working for the Administrator and Spy’s a prissy little bitch who you want to punch repeatedly. What can you do? Not much, really. You’ve got to stick around because no one else is going to hire you. Well, apart from the Team Fortress Classic team, but that’s beside the point.… [Continue Reading]

Sham1 talks gaming : Tetris

All right, time for everyone to take their ushankas, go to the Red Square and start calling each other with the word “comrade” as we are gonna talk about a Soviet hit game, Те́трис.   History of Tetris Tetris originates from the east-side of the Iron Curtain in 1984, a 28-year-old Alexey Pajitnov along with his colleagues at the Moscow Computer center created a game for the Russian computer Elektronika 60 called Те́трис (screenshot below). Soon after, Alexey and his colleagues Dmitry Pavlovsky and Vadim Gerasimov made a version of the game for the IBM PC and after the port the game became very… [Continue Reading]

My first impressions of Elder Scrolls Online

For my birthday, I was given some lovely gifts. The best moderator ever, known as Fish-E, gave me Fallout New Vegas, about which I’ll write an article about at a later date. The second awesome gift I got was Elder Scrolls Online. You know, that really expensive MMO set in the Elder Scrolls series. Well, now, it no longer requires a subscription fee, so you can spent €60 on it and not pay any more ever again. Yay! My very first impression on this game, after waiting 4 hours to install the game via the 4 DVDs in the box,… [Continue Reading]

My Little Mercenaries

The following series of words condensed into sentences and paragraphs was written at half past three in the morning while the author was drunk on Doctor Pepper. As such, it is not to be taken seriously. – Team Fortress 2 had been paired with many games, such as Borderlands, Left 4 Dead, Alien: Isolation and even Plants vs Zombies and (if you tilt your head, let your eyes unfocus and squint while in a dark room) some might even say Five Nights At Freddy’s. Much rarer though, is being paired with popular TV shows. There’s at least two references to Doctor… [Continue Reading]

Cops & Zombies

Our Medic has been doing a fine job running this blog. Seriously, she’s amazing. For almost two years now, The Daily SPUF has published a new article every single day, and Medic is personally responsible for both the majority of articles and pictures! SPUF cannot give her enough kudos, but, lately, she’s confessed to being tired. Running a daily blog longer than anyone on Friends held a single job is a repetitive chore with an ever-respawning deadline. So I’m giving Medic a week-long break! And I’m going to do this by writing seven articles in one night. This night, to be exact. I’m turning this video on… [Continue Reading]
