Overwatch – Advanced Lucio Tips

After 300 hours of Lucio and 200GB of recorded footage, I’ve finally finished my compilation of highlights from my Lucio career, and I can’t be more excited it’s finally published and out for everyone to see. I’ve come an extremely long way from when I wrote this article, and I feel prepared to bring you four new tips for improving your Lucio play. These are more advanced than the ones I gave before, and are intended for those who already know Lucio’s fundamentals. 1. Bunnyhopping. Due to Lucio’s skates, Blizzard gave him different acceleration/deceleration values from the other heroes, and… [Continue Reading]

Overwatch’s Tracer is Gay

The latest Overwatch comic came out (meanwhile us in the TF2 fandom forgot that was even possible…) and it shows the heroes going home for Christmas to spend time with their loved ones or lack thereof. The main story involves Tracer trying to reach the shops in time to buy a present, and the rest of this article is going to assume you’ve gone and read the comic. While its not the only major reveal in Overwatch canon that came out with this comic, it’s the one that’s got all the gaming news sites talking about it. The forums are also ripe… [Continue Reading]

Overwatch and Payday Christmas Events are Live!

Today was a big day for gaming announcements! The 4th Annual Payday Christmas event was announced yesterday, and it involves the return of everybody’s favorite Escort NPC, Vlad’s drunkard step-brother who screws up another mission and requires the Payday gang to rescue him! In addition to the new heist, we got a new pulse-pounding song from studio musician OVERKILL_Bubba and two masks inspired by the Paycheck gang, a reddit in-joke making fun of the many, many bootleg clown masks from cheap third-party websites and dime stores. But wait…who’s that mysterious man looking away from the camera? We didn’t have to… [Continue Reading]

Things Overwatch Got Right

I’ve been rather negative about Overwatch. Not as negative as aabicus was yesterday, but I haven’t exactly been kind to the game. Of course, most of that is because the damn thing gives me headaches unless I turn the HUD off, but let’s be frank, Overwatch is a genuinely very good game. So here’s a list of random crap I think Overwatch did right. Casual Matchmaking Alright, no matchmaking system can ever be perfect. Team Fortress 2’s matchmaking is either shit or 99% of the playerbase is so bad that the matchmaking system can’t work out what to do with… [Continue Reading]

A Negative Article About Overwatch

Let it not be said that these fellows are the only ones who can wax poetic about negatives in Overwatch. SilverWolf can, for example, and Medic, and even me. But this article is different. It’s all about literal negative numbers in Overwatch, values that are usually impossible but for whatever reason have managed to show up where players least expect it. None of them were intentional, and in most cases Blizzard has already patched them. It’s a slow news day. 1. Negative Ultimate charge! If you’re tired of getting Play of the Game as Bastion, you can intentionally self-damage yourself while… [Continue Reading]

My Favorite Healing Weapons

Ever since my very first life in Team Fortress Classic,  I’ve been a support main who instantly gravitates to the healing class in any multiplayer shooter. Most games come with one or more options for wannabe battlefield medics, and healing weapons are often some of the most visually- and mechanically-interesting firearms in the roster. So, after years of getting my hands on everything from syringes to potions to defibrillators to whack or shoot my teammates with, I wanted to take an article to discuss the ones that came to mind when I think about healing weapons that for whatever reason left a… [Continue Reading]

Overrated

Okay, seriously, it’s not a bad game. But I don’t like it and (again) that title was too damn good to pass up. Think of this as an extension to Medic’s article except written by someone far less competent. I wanted to like Overwatch, really, I did. (Lower your damn pitchforks!) I tried the beta, which for some reason would cause my router to crash and freeze every time I launched it, forcing me to play it offline. Even when it was in a playable state in the free trial after the full game came out, I tried to ignore my… [Continue Reading]

Ideas for Vs AI in Overwatch

“Versus AI” is one of the three main game modes available in Overwatch, coming with its own MMR, XP levels and stat-tracking page in your career profile. I usually play a single Vs AI match when I start up Overwatch for the day so I can warm up and grab that +1500 First Win of the Day bonus in a stressfree environment. I also had a roommate in Texas who was too intimidated by the thought of fighting other humans and so would play a lot of McCree and Mei versus AI. So for multiple reasons, it’s an appreciated game mode and… [Continue Reading]

Sombra Announced For Overwatch!

Blizzcon began yesterday, and as always, the opening ceremony announced what’s coming soon for all major Blizzard franchises. Overwatch will be getting their 2nd post-release hero, the elusive hacker Sombra, in the Public Test Realm on Tuesday November 8th (Election day!) Everyone following the painfully-executed months-long ARG knew this was coming, but it’s hard not to get excited when we have a new cinematic short and a complete breakdown on Sombra’s in-game abilities! According to her character profile on the official site, Sombra is an offense hero who wields a machine pistol and a lot of support-style abilities. She can turn… [Continue Reading]

4 Mistakes Made By New Lucios

I was lucky enough to be recording during my first ever round trying Lucio in the Overwatch beta. I didn’t expect him to become my favorite character over Mercy, but it’s months later and I’ve barely touched the other healers because he’s just so much damn fun, skating around doling out area-of-effect speedboosts and heals, riding along walls and booping people off ledges. But while Lucio’s skill floor is admittedly quite low (just look at what I get done having never touched the character before) his ceiling is deceptively lofty. Here are a few things I’ve learned about him from watching… [Continue Reading]
