Larvitar Community Day Classic

The Larvitar family is a pretty interesting one. Alongside the Beldum family, these Pokemon are the only pseudo-Legendary Pokemon that aren’t dragon types for a change. They’re also definitely great Pokemon overall, and they have Mega Evolutions too. So it’s worth grabbing Larvitars whenever you can. Finally, a chance to get some Larvitar shinies For me, I’ve actually only managed to catch 3 shiny Larvitars in the past. Despite catching a LOT of Larvitars, the shinies not so much ellude me but beg to have a few more in my collection. This event allowed me to get a shiny Tyranitar… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon That Would Be Awesome If They Had Better Moves

Not all Pokemon are equal. And not all Pokemon get added to Pokemon GO. But sometimes Pokemon are added and they turn out to be completely useless. Normally, this applies to ‘early game’ Pokemon like Pidgey or Weedle, but it turns out that even legendary Pokemon can be completely screwed over, just because they don’t have a good selection of moves to choose from. Here are five unlucky Pokemon that are really missing out. Xerneas Xerneas is one of my favourite legendary Pokemon, but it’s in a terrible state currently. As I mentioned in this article, Xerneas is stuck with… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon That Are Useless But I Don’t Have the Heart to Transfer them

Really, Pokemon GO is a pretty grim game. The majority of Pokemon you collect, they are chucked away and transferred, because they’re not very useful. Only the cream of the crop are allowed to stick around, and eventually even some of the better Pokemon get transferred away, to make space for Pokemon that are slightly better. Otherwise, in the end, you run out of backpack space. So space had to be made and Pokemon have to be sacrificed. Despite all this, I am a bit of a hoarder of Pokemon. I have so many that I’ve meant to transfer and… [Continue Reading]

A Nice Walk in the Dark

I consider myself a fortunate person. I live in a country where going out at night is mostly safe. The most likely thing to get you is a car that doesn’t stop at red lights. And because it’s so calm, I can also go out and play some Pokemon GO as well. It’s very pleasant. However, currently, it’s cold, and it gets dark quite early. We are in the middle of winter, after all. But the darkness can be a little depressing. This is where Pokemon GO comes into play, chewing away at my more negative feelings. It’s nice, just… [Continue Reading]

Chespin Commuinity Day

The new year has been pretty good so far in Pokemon GO. We had a nice new year’s event, and, at the time of writing, an event with fairies and dragons coming up. We’re also starting the year with a more familiar face, a starter Pokemon. After a long delay, we seem to be back on course when it comes to Community Days. And January’s Community Day is for Chespin, the spiky nut Pokemon, and the grass starter for the Kalos region. It’s been a while since we last saw a community day starter, and Chespin is nice and refreshing.… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Semi-Rare Pokemon from Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO, I have nearly 2000 Pokemon. While that number can be decreased, there’s also plenty of cool Pokemon in that collection. In fact, I have several pretty cool Pokemon that could actually be considered kinda rare. Here are some of them. Perfect Armoured Mewtwo Armoured Mewtwo is an odd one. The actual armour doesn’t actually look that great. In fact, it looks over-designed and nit at all comfy in any way. But this particular Armoured Mewtwo was actually a tie-in for a Pokemon movie that was coming out at the time. Either way, we actually haven’t seen this… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon GO’s new Size Stats are Annoying

One of the newer features in Pokemon GO’s winter updates was something to track the sizes of Pokemon. Normally, every caught Pokemon has a weight and height, but this update boosted the visibility, adding little ribbons for Pokemon are bigger or smaller. New sizes This update also introduced two more sizes. Your Pokemon can now be extra large or extra small. These do seem to be quite rare though. During the Community Weekend back in December, despite catching tons of Pokemon, I only saw a handful of extra small Pokemon. Didn’t see any extra large ones though. The game does… [Continue Reading]

Reaching Level 44 and the Uselessness of Levels after 40

After a long, slow grind, I finally made my way to level 44 in Pokemon GO. It took me ages, and the last 100k of experience needed felt like wading through treacle, with how slow it felt. But I finally did the four tasks I needed to reach level 44, and I also finally had enough experience to actually level up. Some lucky people got free wins off me, thanks to me needing to play in the GO Battle League 20 times. But the other three challenges, I borrowed my brother’s phone and I did 90 games, 30 in each… [Continue Reading]

The New Winter Setting is Really Nice in Pokemon GO

While all the events and weird ticketed research is going on, there’s one thing that’s somewhat slipped under the radar, despite being obvious. The recent art for Pokemon GO has been really nice. We have a sweet loading screen with a happy Spheal and everything is slightly icy, with piles of snow on the world map and festive Christmas trees on the catch screen. It actually feels somewhat wintery. Like a proper seasonal change. This leads me to one question. Can we have actual seasons please? This year, we’ve actually already seen a few graphic upgrades, such as the changing… [Continue Reading]

More Berries too, Please

The other day, I talked about Pokeballs and how we have very few of them in-game. But the same actually applies to berries too. In the main games, there are tons of berries. A LOT of berries. There are berries for almost everything. They can heal Pokemon, they can remove status effects like confusion and sleepiness, they can buff a Pokemon’s next attack AND they can improve the EVs of Pokemon. That’s a huge amount of things. Meanwhile, Pokemon GO only has 6 berries. Or 5 if you don’t count a Poffin as a berry. Surely we could take some… [Continue Reading]
