Valve Shuts Down LMAOBox in One Fell Swoop

VACations everywhere! Today the LMAOBox community woke up to find that pretty much all of them have been banned. Read more here. This giant ban wave has hit platinum level comp snipers, high-tier traders with thousands of dollars in their inventories, and the creators of LMAOBox, though at least one transferred his entire inventory the night before so it appears they had something to do with the leak. MaxBox claiming he sent the debug version to Valve reinforces this, but there’s also evidence that he’s simply trying to take credit for something another user did. The LMAOBox creator has since released… [Continue Reading]

Hydro Servers are back!

Valve has added Hydro servers back into Quickplay! You can find them under the new “Alternative” tab, where it shares space with Special Delivery and Player Destruction. tc_hydro has always been the least-loved of the original 6 maps, completely ignored by everybody everywhere, even on console where there are ONLY 6 maps to choose from! Whenever I play (indeed, when I went on and played it today) I found myself turning my brain off and just farming defensive Kritzkrieg Ubers because any serious attempt to end the round is going to be met with frustrating and repetitive failure. I would LOVE if… [Continue Reading]

The Daily Medic

The Daily SPUF is getting a makeover. Now we’re the Daily Medic! Medic articles every single day from now on. There’s no other classes, just Medic. Medic Medic Medic. Starting from today, every single article from now on will be about Medic in some way or form, whether it’s about how awesome I am, how awesome I am in reviving a dead body 12 hours after it died, the best way to get black market exotic animal organs or the most amusing syringe gun kills ever. Tomorrow’s article will be about how awesome I’ve been in small amounts of awesomeness… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate 2

Hello everyone, and first off, happy mothers day to everyone. Particularly my mum. She’s awesome. This happy mothers day wish also includes, Heavy’s mum, Demoman’s mum and Scout’s mum. Maybe not Sniper’s mum though because she’s an alcoholic lunatic who is now sitting in a rocket in low orbit drinking herself to death while having left her son to die in a flooding city. That’s not really what we should be congratulating. Anyway, back to a week of love and hate! Ah, a week of love and hate. Last time round, for Valentines Day last year, we wrote about our… [Continue Reading]

Coming Soon – A Week of Love and Hate 2

Well, we may have missed Valentines Day 2016, but you know what? We don’t need any commercial holidays. Love is eternal. It is everywhere. You can’t escape it. Oh also hate is eternal too. Aaaaanyway, do you remember that Valentines Day thing we did last year, a week of love and hate? I think it’s time to do another week! Last time round, we went over classes, writing about how much we loved or loathed the nine mercenaries of Team Fortress 2. This time though, I think it’s time that we expand. Or at least change the subject. Or something… [Continue Reading]

Announcing the SPUF of Legend!

Wow! We’ve reached the quadruple digits! Back when we started things in 2013, adapting SPUF threads into articles and relying mostly on Gen. DeGroot’s loadout thread for pictures, I had no idea we’d ever reach this far. And we didn’t just reach it, we kept new articles coming every day! Medic’s already got an article talking about how awesome this is, so my focus here is to showcase some cool new additions to our content-creating repertoire. As mentioned, we’ve created a Youtube channel, The SPUF of Legend, and my goal is to create new videos for said channel on a regular basis. I’m aiming… [Continue Reading]

Celebrating 1000 articles with the Daily SPUF!

Wow. Just wow. 1000 articles. The big one zero zero zero. One. Thousand. Articles. All over 250 words. An article, sometimes two, every day since the 18th of August, 2013. It’s now 2016. Our very first article was complaining about the Half Zatoichi, which is a fair point. But while the weapons of Team Fortress 2, the classes of Team Fortress 2, even core mechanics, have changed since then, we’re still publishing an article every single day. Okay we’ve probably missed a day, but only because of extreme circumstances. No, really, we’ve only missed one day. September 19th, 2013. And… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress 2 Competitive Beta Sign-Up

Well, who’d have thought it? There’s actually matchmaking things going on for reals! No more will B4nny (bless him) be the only reliable and constant source of information about Team Fortress 2’s official matchmaking. Nope, yesterday, a Valve employee popped by and announced that there is now an official Steam group, as seen here. It’s almost definitely official, since the admins are three Valve employees, and the group also has a selection of Steam Community moderators. The main admin of the group, someone called Jill, has got nearly 4000 hours on Team Fortress 2, which is a sign of, um,… [Continue Reading]

Here’s to 2016!

Well yesterday’s article went over what happened in 2015, and it wasn’t really that impressive. You can’t expect every year that a game is alive for to be as impressive as the last, and 2015 showed that Valve is kinda just throwing things at the wall and hoping they stick, as well as copying and pasting things from other games into TF2, rather than doing it the other way around. 2016 though, what’s in stock for it? What’s going to be different? While the majority of 2015 has been dull, the last few weeks of the year have proved interesting,… [Continue Reading]

A Solution to SPUF’s Gateway Errors

For the last few days, SPUFers have noticed that it’s almost impossible to view SPUF threads. The main page loads slowly enough, as do miscellaneous pages like User CP, but clicking on actual threads often just leads to this after ten minutes of loading: SPUFers, not letting something silly like a lack of actual threads stop them, proceeded to carry on conversations via thread previews and puzzling out why new threads occasionally work for a little bit before succumbing to the 503s. Gyoku was the first to sum up the problem in a way the rest of us could read: As soon… [Continue Reading]
